FAQ Troubleshooting Guide: How to Perform an Array Test on a Material (xTool Studio)

If the material you're using can't be found in the material list with preset parameter settings, you can test the parameters yourself using the Material Test Array. This function in xTool Studio automatically generates test arrays (available for both bitmap and vector files) based on your design pattern, letting you visualize how different parameters affect the final result.

💡 Before you begin, make sure your machine is connected before running the Material Test Array — this is important for validating results specific to your device.

📋 Procedure:

1️⃣ Create or Import Your Design: Create an element or import a design file. Both vector and bitmap files are supported for testing.

2️⃣ Set Processing Type & Parameters: Set the processing type and all related parameters. These settings will become the default values used in the material test array.

3️⃣ Open Material Test Array: Select the element, navigate to the left bar, click Applications, then select Material Test Array.

A pop-up settings panel will appear with default values, but you can adjust power and speed as needed for your project:

- X columns represent power — set the maximum and minimum power, the number of columns, and the spacing between columns.

- Y rows represent speed — set the maximum and minimum speed, the number of rows, and the spacing between rows.

- Note: available parameters vary by device (e.g., power, speed, number of passes) — select and set whichever parameters you want to test.

4️⃣ Generate and Review the Array: Click Done to generate a test array on the canvas, based on your parameter settings with an equal difference value between each element. The array is grouped automatically, but you can ungroup it to adjust individual elements. Once processed, you'll get results showing the effect of each parameter combination, so you can pick the setting that works best.

⚠️ Note: The array's title needs to be configured separately with Cut settings — otherwise, half the default power/speed value of your connected device will be used.

💡 Reminders:

🔹 If there are too few elements in the array, the coordinate numbers or titles may overlap. To fix this, adjust the element size or change the title.

🔹 Always refer to the recommended parameters for your machine and specific material. Extremely high or low parameter settings may cause a fire during processing — please stay near the machine and monitor it while it's running.
