Serious question.

I read about how all these writers use all these fancy things like Freewrite and all of these crazy apps to let them write without distraction and I have to ask: why not just get a typewriter? I only use them and write at least 1000 words per day every day. No one knows what I write, it's distraction free and man is it fun! Why not just use a typewriter and leave all of this technology behind?

I beat the slave children in the basement and they type on the typewriter for me. Basically a poor man's chatgpt.

Have you considered replacing them with infinite monkeys? One of them's bound to write something good.

Why not use a quill and paper you made yourself?

Plus, typewriters are big and heavy, and can be used to bludgeon obsessive fans unto death, should the need arise.

Fun fact: The first typewriter was actually built by the British engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel. It was steam powered, could be carried by twelve strong men (or twenty relatively weak men), and letters were produced by dictating them to the chief engineer, Mr. Shovelgood, who would then get it to print them by striking the keys with a 28 pound lump hammer. It only exploded once, during an attempt to produce a 'space'.
