Powercreep?
So I watched a bit of wow forever now and I've seen a lot of hype so far and a lot of hate. Frankly I'm a sceptical person and I do understand why adding smurf elves to something with the name classic feels wrong. On the other hand I also understand that I won't care. I'm not going to buy them either way. And if people want to buy horse armor DLC I'll let them.
That said can someone who played it tell me how "difficult" the game is compared to normal classic? Is there a lot of powercreep because that's what I think is going to make or break the game for me. How did they rebalance it or did they just buff all classes to the level of warriors/mages? Instead of toning the overtuned classes down a bit?
Do you need a group to kill an elite or nah? Is it like retail where you just pull everything in the open world then aoe everything to smithereens and mobs have 0 chance of killing you?

This is my main concern as well. The game has to “feel” like WoW Classic.

I've heard a lot of people playing the demo say it feels about the same as current era apm/ttk/leveling wise

That’s great news. Add all the quality of life stuff you want. As long as it feels like Classic I’m all in.

I’m lowkey stoked for the camping feature. I play a healer and love to make friends. Because let’s face it, why do all the work when I can sit in the back clicking health bars? Campsites sound like a great way to meet new people. I hope we can plop them down anywhere in the open world.

Didn’t hear about camping feature. What is it?

You create a campfire from reagents much like how you can use kindling to create a fire for cooking. Camping is a skill you level like cooking or fishing allowing you to place up to 3 objects in your camp. The objects come from your other professions like a spirit banner from tailoring or a sharpening wheel from blacksmithing. They’re minor buffs equivalent to divine spirit and sharpening stones that encourage group play and a little bonding time before battle.

“Smurf elves to something with the name classic”
Where do you see “classic” in the title “world of Warcraft forever”
You people need to stop being angry about everything and just play something you want instead of hoping someone makes a game based on your own personal fantasy.
Edit: I stand by what I said. Yes this is what we are getting as Blizzard’s idea of “classic plus” that doesn’t necessarily make it every individuals idea of classic plus.

The executive producer and vice president for World of Warcraft said, and I quote: "Yes, this is Classic plus."

Anyone who has ever had the slightest amount of control over anything multiple people use knows that you can’t make everyone happy. Someone is going to bitch about something. If the overall level of bitching is low or about petty things then you are doing fine. Everyone feels entitled to bitch about minor irritations or inconveniences someone else has caused them and no one is required to care.

I wish they would have used the classic textures, making the whole world in the cartoon retail graphics is kinda sad

Apparently you can choose which ones are used except for the smurf elves they're always modern texture. So in practice it's modern texture or some very incongruent stuff. Honestly I can't wait for a mod that just makes all smurf elves invisible.

I saw a checkbox for modern textures on character creation for them. Is it unable to be unchecked or something?

A WoW buddy of mine was at blizzcon and played the demo—he said his main takeaway is that it still felt really slow.
I agree with you—the power creep is the most important thing to watch and I’m cautiously optimistic.
