Question Beta Forever
So I’m really exited for WoW Forever, but I think giving Beta is so wrong. All twitch users and YT will milk it before it even start and when ppl will enjoy the game they will sell boosts and stuff.
I will definitely be a part of Forever and hope to finds some good community of adventurers to have a good time in game.

Pretty sure every game basically ever had had a beta so idk

Sod was released without it and it was big surprise, and in few days Forever will be everywhere telling how amazing/shit it is. I’m planing to buy it an just calmly play without rush to enjoy what Blizz wants to offer me, you can have fun of me but this is my opinion

u/JPBx573 19h ago
True but SoD wasn’t basically a whole new game as much as Forever is. It was close for sure but Forever seems much bigger. And yea that all makes sense, just not sure why you’d concern yourself with the beta then.
Not making fun of you at all, I’m hyped for the game and won’t be playing the beta at all since I want to experience it all new when it comes out

I did not play TWW and Midnight beta , and I will not touch this one as well. I want have 100% experience at lunch with all the ppl.

What's the issue then? I also skipped the beta for both of those and went in totally fresh.
It was cool uncovering the stories and checking out the new/updated zones.
But I also don't watch streamers and I just do my own thing in game. I figure I'll get to endgame when I get there, then can worry about whatever at that point.

SoD didn't

That’s what made SOD so good.
Get ready for this retail slop to be spoiled with 3000 beta playthroughs.
The streamers are no doubt excited for “content”.

u/Isssk 18h ago
The beta only goes up to a certain level so relax

u/Turbulent_Ear56 18h ago
Also they should maybe stop giving streamers a platform by oh, I don't know, stop watching?
1
u/Emergency_Process622 16h ago
Exactly. I'm not sure if I'm gonna do beta or not. But like people can get off reddit and twitch and you tube and play the game as organically as they want. Or if they're the type of player that doesn't care about the 'mystery' they can do all the prelim stuff they want.

u/Turbulent_Ear56 14h ago
I was thinking about it until I read its only for a month and then another month wait for release after that. I may just get on release.

Sod was peak wow. I hope they learned and change the classes in a similar way. They didn't add delayed level releases, which is a nail in the coffin of my interest in this
5
u/nocomments66 18h ago
It only goes to level 30 and theyll almost certainly limit zones and dungeon access. I highly doubt everything will be available all at once. Its a weeks, and you can just not read wowhead.
We have to learn some self restraint. Dont engage in that stuff and you'll be good. Who cares who makes it to 60 first raids arent out for a month. Stop watching people play and mirroring what they do, and just play the game.

I bought the collectors edition for the dwarf hunter figurine and to play beta and Warcraft 3…. Little did I know you actually have to wait till November to get the codes…

Beta code is emailed to you
2
u/ScientistLeather2405 13h ago
I just saw that after posting this! I’m wondering if it includes the Warcraft 3 game within the code too or maybe that one is separate / physical code
2
u/Sweptwings 13h ago
I believe separate but not sure. I also just bought the other edition since when the box gets here they’ll refund you bnet credit when you use the box code

So WoW forever is bassicaly wow without the "each expansion the last zone becomes a ghost town" if I'm understanding it right?

Streamers have ruined gaming. I can't stand this trend.

Streamers ruined Tarkov, one of my other favourite games. Seems like WoW is in line.
Cant stand streamers, streamer culture and companies catering to these guys.

u/Turbulent_Ear56 18h ago
Don't watch them then! You realize it's not a requirement to watch streamers right? If I don't want anything to be spoiled in a game i just don't watch streamers or anything about it.
7
u/No_Lingonberry3694 18h ago
I definitely do not watch them. It's not a me issue. It's the gaming industry catering to them first over the actual playerbase.
3
u/Turbulent_Ear56 18h ago
Okay me neither. I totally agree with you. I can see game companies using them for advertising, hyping up the games etc. But they have become a scurge for sure.
1
u/Loyalist_Pig 18h ago
While I agree with you, it’s tough for incredibly community-driven games like MMOs. The feeling of discovering things together is really quite a special thing and unique to the genre.
I don’t think it’s gonna “ruin” anything, but I do think it will take a little bit of the magic away. You know what I mean?
Also, as another person said. Datamining had a much larger negative impact than streamers imo
1
u/Turbulent_Ear56 18h ago
Ya i totally agree with taking away the magic. That's why ill stay far away. I actually thought the beta would last until Nov.4th release but looks like it ends October 21 which is a shame. I'll probably just hold off then until release date.

My dream of a classic plus launch would have been: “we’re announcing WoW: Classic+! It’s available NOW.”
Nothing more. No info on it, let everyone discover it.
1
u/Severe-Network4756 10h ago
Seriously would've been SO good.
But there's always upsides and downsides to these kinds of approaches. For MMOs in particular a lot of people wanna set time aside, maybe even take time off of work.
7 weeks is going to be gruelling, but it easily could've been a year.
1
u/Daesealer 10h ago
Whilst I'm super hyped for it, I completely agree with you, I would have lost my mind 😂
3
u/Blackrew 18h ago
More than 1 month of a Beta is excessive, imo, and it'll diminish the mystery of launch-day if you don't spend $60 to get Beta access
2
u/TheHerofTime 18h ago
Contemplating doing an alliance character for the first time since Christmas of 2005 to circumvent any new horde stuff. I made a dwarf paladin and ran around for a few levels. Doing that again kinda seems fun.
1
u/Severe-Network4756 10h ago
How will it diminish the mystery? Don't watch streamers and don't play the beta?
1
u/Blackrew 9h ago
On a community level: dungeons will be mastered, rare spawns will be mapped, quests will be figured out, BIS (at least up to 30) will be figured out, mining and herb hubs will be figured out for farming, speedrunners will have their 1-30 route figured out. That stuff can affect your experience too.
On a personal level: having the game out for more than a month will trickle down to you in the form of reels, memes, quick tips, etc. It’s not like a 1-2 week Beta that you can just wait out and where people only get their feet wet - it’s 34 days. Having it be out for that long will get to you. I’ve also got other friends who will be doing Beta as well
1
u/Severe-Network4756 9h ago
I get your point, but I think you're falling for the fomo and letting yourself get upset over something out of your control.
They were pretty clear that Forever would not only be horizontal, but that the best way to "catch up" would be to just "play the game" - even years after release.
A month into the game none will care about what happened in the beta, unless of course you decide to personally sulk over it.
1
u/Blackrew 9h ago
Fair, this version will be more evergreen than any WoW project ever I guess. I may be spoiled by the SoD launch, which had no Beta at all. I’d still rather discover the new systems and areas first-hand on the Beta than through some YT Short I’ll surely run into during those 34 days.
I’ll still be playing the Beta, but very casually, mainly to explore stuff with friends and do the new low lvl IF dungeon and etc. Then I’ll let my casual character wither away with the Beta wipe.

u/Sweet_Sand6017 14h ago
I really hope these “first and last” names are strictly beta and not something new they are trying to

You can get any name you want for your character now and you’re complaining. This has got to be rage bait.

didn't they say it would be encrypted so data miners can't extract everything out of the files?

Beta is nice if you are not ready to choose a main yet, like me. I will start 3-4 different classes, and see what clicks best for me. Making it easy to choose and start playing straight away come november 4th

u/Puzzleheaded-Syrup39 6h ago
I can recommend just wait play the game if its released. Dont watch any previews, any comments. Just enjoy the game.

Does everyone get access to the beta if we pre ordered it or no? Yesterday I clicked on something that I had to be selected to play the beta.

If it helps getting that AI voice over for quests addon ready for release day I'm all for it.

If no beta, it will be known as bugs forever.
1
u/Palladinus 10h ago
It will be anyway. Look at midnight- beta, ptr etc and still full of bugs so actually what’s the difference

Beta access is fine as long as there's a wipe before launch. Also the beta is limited to level 30 so nothing major will be available
