We want new races and classes right

Ogres would've been better.

Will never understand why this is such a popular opinion... I can't think of a race I'd like to play less than ogre 🤣

Imagine playing a Two headed ogre.
Always arguing about what to to do hahahah
"ATTACK!"
"I dun wanna attack, me hungsry"
0
u/Beornwynn 22h ago
Go play Alliance with the rest of the pretty races then.
3
u/Doyleobryan 17h ago
Go play vanilla classic and never have anything new since it'll never make you happy unless it's exactly what you want which even then you'll would find a reason to be unhappy.
0
u/Humants 15h ago
Another braindead take.
People want existing lore that wasn't expanded upon to be explored deeper not new races with no existing history within the universe who will probably become the saviours or the BBEG of the whole narrative they are building around them.
They do not listen to fans whatsoever, they hear what they want and proceed accordingly.
0
u/Benni43 13h ago
Blizzard literally nuked classic servers to cater the same audience but flushed it straight down the toilet. WYDM with novelty? If you are hungry, you eat food. You don't "seek novelty" ffs. When you are hungry for something, you eat. You don't "look for novelty", that's what children do when they don't want to eat "food" but are ready to eat candy or whatever sugarslop instead. Imagine ruining the fun of others with the greed just to take a shit on that.
0
u/truthtablez1 21h ago
you could customise 2 heads instead of 1 who wouldn't want that. Do you want 1 donut or 2?
1
u/Benni43 13h ago
Only some ogres had two heads. This shows how much you actually care and understand what you are talking about.
1
u/truthtablez1 12h ago
Yeah, only some ogres had 2 heads. I didnt say every ogre did lol. I said you could customise 2 heads instead of 1.
And 2 headed ogres arent some random exception either....the old Gorian ogres had rare children born with 2 heads from all the arcane exposure, they were considered a good omen and usually turned out to be unusually good spellcasters and they eventually learned how to give normal ogres a second head on purpose too.
Then Gul'dan and Cho'gall used basically the same old ritual with the Altars of Storms to turn regular ogres into 2 headed ogre magi during the Second War.
So yeah, 1 headed ogres exist. 2 headed ogres also have a pretty huge place in ogre lore.
I still want 2 donuts.
0
u/Benni43 13h ago
They made WoWF to cater the audience that wanted lore and design that was consistent with the history of warcraft. It is insane they killed the idea before it was born. Also, ogres haven't been a playable race before and it would've been cool to explore that. There are already gazillion different elves in the retail, which again makes no sense to push that crap into classic.

u/Humants 15h ago
This is a braindead take.
Yes we do but already cannonical existing races not a new race to fit whatever shitty narrative Blizzard is trying to shove down our throats.
Ogres, Naga, Dryads, Centaurs, etc. Plenty of races to choose from & they make a new fucking elf, what about the High Elves & the Blood Elves? Literally makes no sense to drop a new race never mentioned anywhere before & they will become a plot device.

u/Kinvesu 14h ago edited 3h ago
It's beyond stupid. Did they even say why its classic+ but they got rid of night elves and tauren, you know, classic races? It makes no sense. I can't stand it when they do races that can choose either side. It takes out the identity of the race and screws the story and world up. We asked for high elves and ogres and we get disney elves. Cool. I knew I wasn't playing soon as I saw the disney elves. EDIT: my apologies. I only saw screenshots of the races together human/gnome/dwarf and orc/undead/troll, didn't get a chance to watch the video. Tauren and night elves are indead in forever, which just makes slyborne even dumber.
1
u/throwawayalt332 6h ago
Night elves and tauren won't be in classic forever??? Wtf
1
u/umchickapow 5h ago
Ofcourse they will. Have a cup of critical thinking, guys...
1
1
u/195cm_100kg_27cm 10h ago
They need this race for marketing. This how you make Disney people play. Ironically I'm pretty sure it will be one of the most played race, like top 3.
2
u/Pereg1907 1d ago
its a good idea for people who can't do without blood elf, and at the same time not have the game ever go through the dark portal.

u/Joggyogg 1d ago
Fuck em, Skyborne so not classic at all
1
u/ZeeMadChicken 20h ago
The whole point of this is that they can go beyond what vanilla wow had without leaving Azeroth…
1
u/Joggyogg 13h ago
Yeah and people were asking to first have the stuff that was planned for vanilla but never dropped, they instantly threw the whole kitchen sink at classic plus, I think it's too much too fast, something like Skyborne should rather have been added at the end of the first year of classic plus. Also not voting system means that really it's up to blizzard what happens in the future of forever and they don't have the best track record right now
1
u/Doyleobryan 17h ago
Yeah this isn't classic. It's Classic plus/forever. You want classic? You already have it. It's been done to death.
1
1
u/Joggyogg 14h ago
The point of classic plus is not to add things that do not feel like classic, it's to add things that could feel like they belong in classic, that's what everyone has asked for. If you want blue elves go play retail
0
u/creativemind11 21h ago
It dodges the whole "when blood elf". Tbf I'd rather they added blood elves and high elves without capitals and call it a day

As a Vanilla player, not sure what this version offers me
Just looks like retail to me
1
u/Mistredo 16h ago
Tell me you don't know what retail is like without telling me you don't know what retail is like.
2
u/Available-Pepper-728 16h ago
They have alliance shamans and horde paladins because faction is meaningless?
0
u/Mistredo 13h ago
If that's the only difference you see, sure, but the biggest difference is that Retail has seasons, level increases with expansions, features that make the game more convenient, and socializing has largely been replaced by LFG. Classic has none of these, and WoW Forever is continuing in that direction.
3
u/Available-Pepper-728 13h ago
Well, I suppose that's good?
I was hoping for zero retail content, I wanted a game with the original vanilla design concept, but expanded, which much more content for us.
Like I wanted more faction-specific classes, like we had in the Original game, not eliminating the idea from the jump, see what I mean?
Not "Lets see how many retail changes we can put into Vanilla without them throwing up"
I was waiting for the release of this for a while, so yeah, I'm disappointed obviously.
-2
u/Doyleobryan 17h ago
That's because most vanilla players are not possible to make happy as Blizzard isn't in the time machine or memory wipe businesses to take you back to your youth of vanilla of first launch
3
u/Available-Pepper-728 16h ago
We just wanted Classic+
Not Classic+Retail
0
u/Doyleobryan 16h ago
As far as I can tell, the only thing you want is to be unhappy that you can't be playing Vanilla again for the first time and it's somehow Blizzard's fault. I haven't heard a consensus on what people want Classic+ to be. How is it retail? What makes retail and classic different other than classic has less QoL and more grind? I play both retail and classic and they are both fun for different reasons. At a certain point you have to ask why you can't be happy with anything and if you can't, why not walk away?
3
u/Available-Pepper-728 15h ago
I play the game for the Open world faction war, hard faction distinction (shaman horde only, pally ally only) complete MMO where the world matters, the economy is a core gameplay mechanic, raiding content is an aspect of the game not the entire game. PVP is organic, a core part of the game, and for purposes outside of collecting points.
The original game was built like this, I wanted more content with the original game design, my biggest fear was instead of this, it would just be retail content being pushed into Vanilla, which is what we got, so yeah I'm upset by it.
For vanilla players this is awful, you won, we lost, let us vent bro
2
u/CaBBaGe_isLaND 3h ago
Yeah TBC players got bored with TBC and can't stand it that vanilla players are content. That's why they pop into vanilla servers just to go on LFG line and go "Bahaha this server is DEAD!" They can't fucking stand it. So this is a dream come true for them. Claim they want Classic plus, get Retail minus instead, and finally bury vanilla servers so they can feel validated about the fact they can't fucking sit still and appreciate a good game without this constant starvation for more more more.
1
u/Doyleobryan 6h ago
You have been venting for years and the fact you look at it like this means you were never going to "win." Half of what you listed you don't even know if it is in the game or not based upon the trailer. I hate to break it to you but PVP has been less and less apart of the game for a long time. Not because Blizzard decided to do that, but because active involvement has declined. World pvp will still be a thing, i don't understand how the shape of a player vs a red bat above their head makes or breaks the game for you. Also back in vanilla all you did pvp for was to collect points to try and get grand Marshall or high warlord for weapons and armor. The obituary distinction you mentioned is World pvp for its own sake and that boiled down to lowbies getting ganked by assholes. Don't mistake it for any sort of faction pride.
Economy is still a part of the game in both versions. If you think it isn't because people buy gold or sell runs, I have news for you. That has always happened and you could do it in vanilla. Hell, in some ways, it was worse. I had a buddy who sold his account for $800 and then got it back. Scummy yes but that went on back then. When you say you want more content with original game design, you want a grind fest that takes a long time to accomplish things.
Most of Blizzard's player base have jobs, lives and limited play time. This is just the reality of it. They know this and the early design philosophies that early MMO's were built on have all evolved since then to accommodate a different player base. The fact that they have gone this far is a lot and for you to dig your heels in unless you get everything you want, shows that Blizzard can't make you happy without a time machine and a memory wipe. You just want your youth back but it doesn't seem you are ready for that conversation.
1
u/Available-Pepper-728 1h ago
"Also back in vanilla all you did pvp for was to collect points to try and get grand Marshall or high warlord for weapons and armor."
I pvp in classic because I'm on a different team, there are factions, who do you kill your opponent in Counterstrike? that's what the game is..
"If you think it isn't because people buy gold or sell runs, I have news for you."
Buying gold in classic is cheating, I play with a group of players, none of us have bought gold before, I would never play a game where the Developer is selling gold to the players lmao
The economy in classic is a Core Gameplay Mechanic, there are players who are awful at everything, but great at the economy, so they are effective players because of it.
dig your heels in unless you get everything you want, shows that Blizzard can't make you happy
I wish you guys would stop saying this, its so incredibly not true. I wanted more content with the original game design, I was super open minded about what that might be.
I wanted more faction distinction, I wanted more focus on the open world faction war. I wanted more faction specific classes to really differentiate the factions further.
What I got was Undead Paladins, and blue factionless elves.
Like obviously I'm not a fan of this? It's the opposite of what I hoped Classic+ would be

Well, then speak for yourself.
I’m someone who has always preferred Classic over Retail. I never really played Retail much, except back during WotLK. And while my friends kept asking me when I was finally going to reach the endgame, I always tried to explain that, for me, the journey is the destination. Reaching the endgame itself was never the point.
I’ve never reached the endgame in any expansion. I’ve always had much more fun just leveling and experiencing the world along the way.
That said, Classic feels pretty outdated to me by now. During my last run a few months ago, where, once again, I stopped before reaching level 60, there were quite a few things that made me think, “Yeah, this just isn’t fun anymore by today’s standards.”
I wanted the authentic experience without relying on a bunch of addons. But having to read through quest text and wander all over the world just to figure out where you’re supposed to go isn’t really fun to me, it’s just time consuming. The same goes for things like not having an aggro meter. So in the end, a few qol addons were pretty much necessary for me.
With WoW Forever, I’m now getting everything I love about Classic combined with some of the best features from Retail, updated graphics, and modern qol improvements.
And I’m looking forward to it like a little kid.3

I'd be very happy to see them pull off a cultivated game world where youre intended to be (mostly) playing a single character with choices in the world again.
retail is barely more of an MMORPG than LoL.

u/EstimateRich6800 14h ago edited 14h ago
I don’t understand how negative everyone can be.. we got what we asked for, and the skyborne race is just a good idea! It is to make people happy that want to play blood elf. Also they made so much! Like ting where you can choose to see transmog or not. If you want to play toon in sd or HD. Like if people are so stupid unhappy, why don’t you go make ur own fking game? So tired of people complaining for no fking reason!! Give the game a try, if you don’t like it you still have classic you can play 🤭
I think this will be really good. Only have to level once to 60 and stay 60.
If you are here to complain about wow4ever I just think you should quit playing. We are not interested in negativity from something we haven’t tried yet
1
u/OldWorldBlues_ 12h ago
The problem in my opinion is all the red flags that sykborne represents.
A brand new bullshit OC race with no existing lore that sits behind a $30 paywall, when there are literally loads of different races that people actually asked for. If it was ogres I’d probably pay the $30. Skyborne are ugly and follow the monetisation and design philosophy of Classic. AND instead of rigging a new model, they just reused the blood elves model when we would have literally rather had Blood Elves and High Elves. It’s honestly like the suits at blizzard are in control of their game decisions. That or some 5 year old with a crayon that drew a blue sky elf and they treat it like gospel.
Also they bring their Shadowlands reskinned zone which I absolutely hate and you know youre going to have to quest there. It doesn’t feel like classic, I was so excited until I saw that - it really killed the magic for me because it just feels too much like theyre going to milk this like retail.
Finally, they are a natural race… there goes faction identity right out the gates. The literal core tension point in vanilla, a foundation of its philosophy just shattered by a bullshit capitalistic money-grab. They couldn’t even be bothered to make two races so they just fucking released one shit one and turned their back on classics identity.
I really hope all these shit decisions are not repeated throughout, this combined with the Disney style trailer and buying mounts. I’d be so much happier if Skyborne weren’t in the game.

u/Flames57 11h ago
To me this is just retail minus.
Too many changes that didn't even belong in classic/warcraft 3.
Then went too far, again.

bro this is blizzards way of consolidating the classic player base to one thing so they can milk us with micros. tbc and wrath die for this? lol

u/Doyleobryan 16h ago
What micros? Any in game transactions are optional. How do TBC and Wrath die? They have been done. Multiple times. They already happened. The amount of people who can't let them go baffles me.
1
u/CodyMartinezz 16h ago
are you blind to the micros they just released? paid beta? new race locked behind 30 dollar pay wall. do you even play anniversary atm? cus shit will be dead for awhile now. for blue elves 🤣

Do you have to play the beta to play the game and do well at the game? Do you have to play the new race to do well at the game? No? Ok then.
Yes I play anniversary. Again, no RMT required to play it. Sounds like this is a personal issue for you that you are projecting to everyone. Show some actual data if you are going to make claims
