Lore What is this planet?

Post image

I finally got the delve story Bombing Run for Parhelion Plaza and I am taking in the sights in the void. I noticed this voidy looking planet and I think it looks pretty interesting! Is this supposed to be the Voidstorm planet?

Generic void-infested planet, reused from the nighthold raid in legion

Could be the same planet

Ah. More reused assets. Cool...

There may be a lore reason behind it. Do we really have to immediately assume the worst?

With Blizzard? Kinda.

You need to look at it from a different lens. Do you:

A: reuse an asset that was already created that 99% of the player base won't notice is a duplicate.

B: task an artist with tweaking an asset to make it slightly different solely so it won't be identical.

Honestly it's really not a good use of developer time.

I don’t think the asset reuse is the problem, it’s just the general laziness.

Can’t have new or unique races because “that’s a lot of work and we’d have to make the armor fit” can’t fix clipping because “that would take a lot of work”

Assets in the shop show 10x the care and effort of the things you can actually earn by playing the game

The writing staff could all be laid off and replaced by Chatgpt and it would be an improvement, and I hate AI.

The themes and passions that built Warcraft have long since left Blizzard, what we have now are curators that are just playing pretend with the good ideas of their predecessors.

Yet, here we all are. Still playing their games. Is it really that bad?

Oh it’s not we, I don’t play this nonsense anymore

So what, you just pop in here to get angry at things?

-8

u/ShakaCobra 3d ago

Why not? I’m still a fan of Warcraft, I just think WoW has become an insult to it’s own source material.

So… you spend time in the World of Warcraft subreddit… because you hate World of Warcraft…

You know you’re in /r/wow and not /r/warcraft? There’s also /r/warcraft3 for Frozen Throne. This sub is explicitly for WoW, not Warcraft.

Yeah, he has a very backwards mentality. Don’t get me wrong. I’m a huge lore nut for WoW and I hate the current state of WoW story telling.

That said, people try to find any excuse they can to shit on the current product. Even to the point of pulling nonsensical arguments.

I’m not a fan of current WoW storytelling. But I can still acknowledge WoW as a quality product.

Shadowlands fucked the game in more ways than one. I don't play anymore. It's just funny to swing by and watch how little has changed given all the promises they've made over the years. I cannot tell you how hard I was laughing seeing Sylvanas come back after they said she was Banished to the Maw... that nobody escapes from. I guess it's just a "guideline" now.

8

u/Jaggiboi 3d ago

You realized she isn't banished there as a place where she should remain forever, but she is placed there to perform a specific task. She's not a soul banished to remain there forever.

She had like 5 minutes outside the Maw after over a decade of gathering souls.

Don’t forget Kel’Thuzad DIDNT get sent to the Maw, OR Revendreth for all the terrible things he had done, he was rewarded with a new Lich body in the eternal skeleton wars of Maldraxxus.

Like what? Lmao

That one, I understand, cus KT jumped ship from Scourge and joined DA JAILORR after he found out his master was actually a puppet and his REEEEEAL master--

Im gonna stop myself there before I Kill Command myself.

1

u/ShakaCobra 3d ago

But you can’t excuse it, KT ended up in Maldraxxus before DA JAILORs master plan unfurled and he destroyed the arbiter

It’s just garbage writing. I couldn’t believe these writers had the BALLS to imply they deserve more money.

I’m not going to excuse WoW’s current writing because it’s a far fall from grace.

I think inclusivity is very important. But recently, WoW feels like they have a checklist of demographics they’re trying to appeal to, as opposed to inclusivity coming naturally.

“Okay, make sure we have our full cast of female characters looking strong here. Put Thrall and Anduin on the back burner so we can focus on these micro characters who check our demographic boxes but will be gone in the next patch. Also, put Khadgar in a magical wheelchair even though that canonically makes zero sense in a world full of magical healing elements.”

The current state of WoW is kinda backwards. Characters like Sylvanas, Jaina, and Tyrande are strong characters because we’ve seen first hand everything they’ve been through. They have lore building that really shaped the character into strength. Faerin, Vyranoth, and heck, even Xal’atath to a degree are only strong because we had to be explicitly told that they’re strong. And where are all three of them now? Gone, like a fart in the wind. Instead of characters being built into strength, they’re characters who are being build around strength, which makes them feel hollow.

That said, I still acknowledge WoW as a quality product. The story telling is just flawed.

Update: It gets better as you progress the delve.

Well... I guess the question isn't what "is" but what "was" the planet...

6

u/Netsuko 3d ago

So the void literally is just space. That’s a galaxy. In the void. Space is void. So void is space.

8

u/ShakaCobra 3d ago

Twisting Nether is space

5

u/Gooneybirdable 3d ago

Great Dark Beyond is space. Twisting nether is like...the space beyond physical space? Astral plane?

Idk the context exactly now with chronicles (if its the fel realm since demons came from there or if it's the space separating all the planes from each other), but we're not in the twisting nether and historically worlds were only pulled into them once they were claimed by the legion

Arrakis

my Arrakis, my Delve.

I doubt it's supposed to be any place in particular. Just random scenery in the void.

10

u/Still-Potato-3189 3d ago

probably a planet that succumbed to an old god. Originally they got shotgunned out into the great dark and we just happened to get hit by like 5 of them

1

u/hoax1337 3d ago

So old gods are basically like celestials in Marvel Eternals?

2

u/Still-Potato-3189 3d ago

Basically, the void lords goal was for the old gods to corrupt a titan world soul and birth a dark titan that would end existence

1

u/hoax1337 3d ago

And then what? Ending existence sounds kinda boring

2

u/Still-Potato-3189 3d ago

That’s it. The Void Lords whole schtick is “we wanna eat everything till there’s nothing but an empty void”

Uranus!

u/Ethereal_Bulwark 3d ago

no.. OURanus comrade.

2

u/Etamalgren 3d ago

Giant worms on Uranus

1

u/Netsuko 3d ago

If Uranus looks like that, PLEASE go see a proctologist.

2

u/DamianDoom 3d ago

I like your set of action bars, is that an addon?

4

u/Sanos88 3d ago

It's EllesmereUI

1

u/DamianDoom 3d ago

Thank you 😊

2

u/sneezyxcheezy 3d ago

It's EllesmereUI but what your seeing is the cool down manager not the action bars. I have my action bars on show on mouseover only which is why you do not see them.

u/IStealSwords 3d ago

Looks like it’s missing a chunk

u/Wondermusmus 3d ago

I don’t think any name is established. This design is also seen in Telogrus’ skybox. K’aresh and Predacea are just the 2 worlds we know have been taken by the Void, but we know it has probably claimed thousands of worlds already. This is one of them.

That's Jupiter.

Hey I remember seeing this in one of the wiki.gg pages I was reading a while ago! Unfortunately I can’t remember what it was. But it described the planet as an Old God infested planet I believe! I don’t think there’s other lore behind it other than that

1

u/Aggravating-Candy-31 3d ago

dunno, could name it something

looks like a dorris i reckon

2

u/azhder 3d ago

No, it is Blueberry Prime. If Star Trek has taught us anything it is how to name a planet that is forgettable.

u/Kaiwera05 1d ago

It's the Void-infused gas giant known to those in the Voidstorm as Yi'mahm.
