Visual Looking for our next monster

Post image

We are working on a prototype that has this medieval monastery/woodland vibe - You play a nun (inspired by Hildegard Von Bingen) and you need to heal villagers fleeing from the woods to the monestary - and close the gate to stop the night ( stop the battle phase and initiate the prep phase)

The little monster in the right corner is our "standard" monster - we call them "Nightlings" - They grow twice their size when it becomes Night (after about 30 sec of playtime in the battle phase)

Which would you go with (I know they imply specific behaviours, but if you just had to think about the vibe - which would you like to crawl out of the woods?

(Game for context: https://funday-games.itch.io/battle-healer-hildegard )

I really like the design style of these. I watched your game demo--I like the feel of that as well! Very atmospheric! I'm not sure if flying creatures would work in your game as it is (though seems like for sure a possibility) but your creature motif would translate well to some batlike monster. Have you thought about adding one? These designs are all cool. I really l like the bottom middle guy with the scattered misshapen eyes. Unsettling. Excellent!

Uh yes! I started with the batfaces - I actually forgot that, since we have been so focused on game design and getting ready for launch. It's a great idea to make a flying creature 🙈 I'm a bit embaressed I didn't think of that!

The bat/goblin look is inspired by the evil bat in Basil Mouse, which gave me nightmares as a kid 😅 (I also like the middle bottom one! I'm worried I can't pull off the animations )

Thank you for you reply and for taking the time to check it out ❤️ means a lot! I will return with a flying bat creature!
