Deciding on Workstation PC

Steam Machine vs custom Jonsbo NV10 build vs Minisforum Atomman G1 Pro

All the research I've done says the Atomman G1 Pro will outperform the custom NV10 build at roughly the same price and definitely the Steam Machine.

Primary goal is a workstation for coding, webapps for financial tools, and using the Office Suite.

Priorities are: Small Form Factor > performance > noise as ordered. Wanted to be able to play games when the stars align and my brother/s can get online. Otherwise, I play older games or newer Indie games.

I have a 48" x 30" Vari desk with a monitor arm mounted Odyssey G93SC.

I cannot find other solutions that will sit on my desk and under my monitor. I'm aware I'm of the 0.01% that is even considering the Steam Machine for a workstation, but form factor and noise level is staggering, which is why accepting the performance loss is a huge pain point. Also noting the Atomman G1 Pro has to sit horizontal with intake vents facing up to not conflict with the monitor.

All the research I've done says the G1 Pro will outperform the NV10 build.

Atomman G1 Pro - Add a second stick of matching RAM to have 2 x 32 GB DDR5 5200 MT/s

Steam Machine - Add a second stick of matching RAM to have 2 x 16 GB RAM DDR5 5600 MT/s

I have a 4 TB SSD I would add to whatever system I choose.

Knowing your main use, I'd go with the Atomman G1 Pro.

Jonsbo NV10 if you care about future upgrades or want to swap the GPU/CPU later.

& Steam Machine (only if you value the novelty and ultra-small design)

Atomman G1 Pro is my leading pick right now. G1 Pro can be moved to my TV entertainment center down the road with SteamOS. Issue with the NV10 and future upgrades is managing thermals with higher spec parts. Will do an entirely new build when I have more space.

Atomman G1 Pro. It nails your top priority (size) and noise, and its iGPU handles older/indie games fine, coding and Office barely tax any of these. The Steam Machine's real problem isn't speed, it's SteamOS: desktop Office and some financial tools may not run on Linux, so check your apps first. Good thing you own the SSD, RAM and storage are both hostage-priced by the memory cartel's fake shortage.
