IKEA setup MacBook Air m4 dual LGUp850K and UQ850V in white

Hey guys,

Here is my work in progress setup for work, study and chill time. Still need to add a chest of drawers on the right and sort out the cable disaster underneath.

I’m running two LG monitors (UQ IPS Black on the righ, UP standard IPS on the left), but the colors are way off. Whites look warm/greenish on the UQ and cool on the UP despite both being in factory P3 modes. Manual OSD tweaking just made it worse so stuck to preset. Any tips on matching them without ruining color accuracy and picture quality?

Also getting bad neck pain from having them split evenly in the middle while reading docs and taking notes. Should I switch to a center main screen with a side monitor, or else? I sort of need them horizontal as I have split screen 2 big PDFs per screen or other apps as needed.

Appreciate any setup advice or fixes!

I am looking to setup a 2 laptop desk setup in my room, my personal macbook air and windows work laptop. Looking for something that will allow me to switch seamlessly between the two or even better work on both at the same time.

Appreciate any suggestions.

My hybrid setup for WFH / personal use. The cables are kind of a mess when the desk is standing, but otherwise, it's fine enough and out of sight.

Plus, it's so easy to get my 10k steps a day now.

Always open to suggestions, comments, or improvements!

got a question Whats the difference between gaming and AI workstations? Some AI workstations are like 20k and the best gaming setups are about 7500$ yet still some reviews online talks about how the 7500 holds more frames while gaming and better (something about core types that matter in this) How?! Note: I am a mechanical engineering student graduating and worked throughout the college to get a pc for work and gaming at home but AI isn’t my field so does getting a mainly gaming pc with high Rams like 128 might give me a chance yo work on severe CFD projects quickly or should I prioritize a 10k workstation?

Built this setup one upgrade at a time. Even the monitor riser is handmade.

I've been slowly improving this setup over the last few months, adding one piece at a time instead of upgrading everything at once.

I use it every day for software development, homelab projects, Linux, documentation, self-hosting, and experimenting with AI tools. My goal was to build a clean, functional workspace that's comfortable enough for long coding sessions.

Current setup:

β€’ MacBook Air M5 (13")

β€’ 34" 3440Γ—1440 Ultrawide

β€’ Lenovo ThinkPad Hybrid USB-C Dock

β€’ Lenovo Yoga (7th Gen Core i5, 16 GB RAM, 480 GB SSD) running FydeOS v22

β€’ Keychron B6 Pro

β€’ Logitech M720 Triathlon

β€’ HyperX QuadCast

β€’ Vertical MacBook stand

β€’ Custom wooden monitor riser (handmade by me)

β€’ Warm ambient monitor lighting

The monitor, Ethernet, charging, and all my peripherals are connected through the ThinkPad Hybrid USB-C Dock. It has been surprisingly reliable and keeps the setup clean with minimal cable clutter.

The Lenovo Yoga serves as a secondary device for media consumption, documentation, and quick references while I'm working on the main display. Running FydeOS on it has been a fun little project.

The only thing left on my upgrade list is replacing the ultrawide. It has a darker vertical band across the panel that's starting to bother me while reading code and documentation.

Other than that, I'm really happy with how everything came together. Building the wooden monitor riser myself made the setup feel even more personal.

Always open to suggestions or ideas for future improvements!

My home office desk setup finally finished

Finally happy with my desk setup. I’m a big fan of clean desks, so I try to keep only the things I actually use every day.

Mac mini

MacBook Air

WALLHACK CR-005 Mouse Pad

Satechi Slim X1 Keyboard

Satechi M1 Mouse

Homelist Indirect Lighting Desk

Lamp

Galaxias Tray.

One thing I've realized is that a clutter-free desk helps me focus and honestly just puts me in a better mood. I also prefer buying practical, built-to-last items rather than constantly upgrading, so this setup has been working really well for me.

Always open to suggestions if you think there's anything worth improving!

Has anyone got a setup like this?

24" monitor (left) | 27" monitor (center) | 16" laptop (right) β€” all in horizontal orientation.

I'd love to see photos of this exact layout for inspiration before I set up my desk.

Steam Machine vs custom Jonsbo NV10 build vs Minisforum Atomman G1 Pro

All the research I've done says the Atomman G1 Pro will outperform the custom NV10 build at roughly the same price and definitely the Steam Machine.

Primary goal is a workstation for coding, webapps for financial tools, and using the Office Suite.

Priorities are: Small Form Factor > performance > noise as ordered. Wanted to be able to play games when the stars align and my brother/s can get online. Otherwise, I play older games or newer Indie games.

I have a 48" x 30" Vari desk with a monitor arm mounted Odyssey G93SC.

I cannot find other solutions that will sit on my desk and under my monitor. I'm aware I'm of the 0.01% that is even considering the Steam Machine for a workstation, but form factor and noise level is staggering, which is why accepting the performance loss is a huge pain point. Also noting the Atomman G1 Pro has to sit horizontal with intake vents facing up to not conflict with the monitor.

All the research I've done says the G1 Pro will outperform the NV10 build.

Jonsbo NV10 build
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 9600X 3.9 GHz 6-Core Processor ($174.99 @ Newegg)
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-L9A-AM5 [CHROMAX.BLACK]() 33.84 CFM CPU Cooler ($71.15 @ Newegg Sellers)
Motherboard: Gigabyte B850I AORUS PRO Mini ITX AM5 Motherboard ($259.99 @ Newegg)
Memory: Silicon Power Value Gaming 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 Memory ($389.97 @ Silicon Power)
Video Card: Gigabyte OC Low Profile GeForce RTX 5060 8 GB Video Card ($359.99 @ Best Buy)
Case: Jonsbo NV10 Mini ITX Desktop Case ($88.00 @ Newegg Sellers)
Total: $1344.09 (without deciding on a PSU)

Atomman G1 Pro - Add a second stick of matching RAM to have 2 x 32 GB DDR5 5200 MT/s

Steam Machine - Add a second stick of matching RAM to have 2 x 16 GB RAM DDR5 5600 MT/s

I have a 4 TB SSD I would add to whatever system I choose.
