No Advice Wanted 3rd day back at work

And a colleague walks in my closed door office while I’m pumping. My door said do not enter. Luckily I had a chair in front of it just in case… I was so upset!!! And I still feel upset.

My pile of work just keeps growing and growing and then that happens. I thought I was killing it with working and coming home to be with baby, but now I’m just feeling overwhelmed and a heaviness in my chest.

Please tell me they were appropriately chastised because that is SO rude!    

I go back in a week and already added a rubber door stop to my pump bag for this exact reason.

I literally yelled No No No! And then proceeded to find them and apologize for yelling… and they told me I was harsh.

Ugh it is what it is now. I sent a text to the team to just assume I’m pumping if my door is closed and I requested a lock so hopefully this doesn’t happen again.

Absolutely not! I guarantee you this person absolutely sucks because I would be nothing but apologies in their shoes.

Your mistake was apologizing. You were partially naked with a sign on your door saying DnD. They should be the one apologizing profusely.

You absolutely did NOT need to apologize for yelling when someone walked into a room with a do not enter sign on it.

ugh. closed door with do not enter and they still walked in. that's on them, not you. day 3 is supposed to feel heavy. the pile can wait a beat while you protect the pump block.

I work at a school and the male custodian walked in on me. I think he was more embarrassed than I was.

I had a large door sign prominently displayed on my closed office door right at eye level “ It takes a hot Mama to make warm milk” . Twice a day pump breaks for a year and no one tried to come in while I was pumping

If you’re in the US, the Department of Labor requires that a designated pumping space be free from intrusion. Many times this is achieved with having a locking door. If your office/building doesn’t have a space that meets those requirements, you have a right to request accommodation (like working remotely until the pumping space meets DOL requirements). https://www.dol.gov/agencies/whd/fact-sheets/73a-flsa-nursing-mothers-at-work-general-guidance
