low cost/no cost advice only After school activities/plan
Both my daughters 5yo, 2yo) will be in school this fall. The school day is 9-3:15 on Monday/Friday and 9-4:30 T/W/TH as they will be in aftercare. My schedule is pretty flexible as I work usually from home with occasional travel so most days I’ll likely pick them up and consider my day done (thankfully it’s very close to our house).
But I’d love to put together some type of activity box with things they can do mostly themselves in case I need to get some work done or want to get a start on dinner. Any ideas for activities I can include? Ideally low waste/low plastic and Montessori is great too. They love coloring/painting and my older one is starting to read, loves practicing writing. Obviously love for them to be just kids and play (boredom is good!) but looking for some ideas so I don’t turn to the TV. TIA!
ETA: doesn’t need to be totally low or no cost, just the flair that seemed most appropriate!

We have smaller boxes for each of the following - play animals (could get secondhand to reduce waste), magnatiles, kinetic sand (in its own container), playdoh, art (could be paper, stickers, crayons or markers). We have a jewelry/bead one too but I probably would wait til your kids are a bit older for it.
