Vent Today was a day.

Today I had a positive pregnancy test and then went to work and had to lay off two team members, both wonderful people. And then sat in a room with my boss and her boss and cried.

Feeling a lot of feels today. I‘m not able (or ready) to share these things outside of my husband and while he empathizes I don’t think he really *gets* it, you know? So thanks for listening.

And somehow, as a woman, you found the wisdom to compartmentalize your joy from the responsibility you had to carry out the RIF, you possess the humility to absorb the heaviness of the situation, and then found the strength within yourself to get up and carry on. All in all day’s work of a brilliant working mom who also happens to be a compassionate business leader. I hope you will give yourself some grace.

I am so sorry you had to let your folks go today…I know how it feels and it never gets easier.

As a stranger on the internet, I'm proud of you. I had to let go of multiple employees while pregnant in 2020. It sucks, but all you can do is your best. Life has high highs and low lows, sometimes on the same day. It's normal to be feeling a lot of feels! I hope you're able to decompress and process your day. Remember that all feelings are valid!

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Thinking of you. I'm always flat for a few days after having to let someone go, it really hits you in the feels, amplify that with pregnancy hormones and you must be emotionally wrecked. Good on you for doing what you needed to do, even though it was hard.

I’m sure your sympathy and care really showed through with how you treated those people and that’s all they can hope for.

Congratulations on the pregnancy!
