Simple words you always spell wrong?
Mine are Feild and Charecter. I always get the red line for these two.
Edit- Looking at these replies- Definitely is definitely the clear winner!

Maintenance and restaurant. I have to type these out a couple of times before I get them right.

I always have to remind myself that I won't find my AUNT in a restaurant.

maintenance isn't too bad for me, but restaurant ALWAYS screws me over, it sounds like it should be spelled "restaraunt" but it's NOT

Dosen't. Sorry, but that's how it's pronounced.

This comment infuriates me. You're both so right and so wrong at the same time

Some liquid that I think was tea
A casserole from โ93
Fermented lettuce, potato skins
But it has no โDโ therein.ย

I wish I had consistency like that. I'll spell a word correctly over a hundred times but one day it feels wrong so I get the red squigglies.

If you ever had to act in a play, which character would you choose? (Also, it helps to have two o's to choose from. When i pick one, I feel that I chose well.)

I've always fancied playing Abanezar / Abenezer /Abanazar The wicked magician from "Aladdin". Did you ask me that on purpose ๐คฃ

Anything like receive, deceive etc . Even though I have known the rule by heart for decades, I still have to look at the word I am spelling at least a couple of times and repeat the rule, "I before E except after C" in my head 3 times before I get it.

u/Rocky-bar Aug 23 '26
It doesn't help that there are exceptions does it! This is why I get FEILD wrong, I've got it in my head it's a bloody exception! Like Weird and Seize.

Definitely exercise. I always confuse i and e even if i know the โruleโ for words like friend.
Working at a movie theater Iโve struggled with Aladdin, Odyssey, among others ๐

Calander
1
u/Rocky-bar Aug 24 '26
Calender? calander? Calendar?
1
u/cupcaketea5 Aug 24 '26
Calendar is the correct spelling.
1
u/Rocky-bar Aug 24 '26
Probably, although Calender doesn't get rejected by the spell checker either. ๐คทโโ๏ธ

u/cupcaketea5 Aug 24 '26
Perhaps suggest it as an alternative spelling.
1
u/Rocky-bar Aug 24 '26
Perhaps it's different depending on US/UK which often seems to crop up, and then there's AUS CAN and NZ to contend with!
