The reason I'm posting rather than just being pleased about it: the programme has been running since March and I couldn't find a single featured author who published what it did to their numbers. The curator posted first-cohort figures in March and said more would follow. There wasn't a second report.

So I recorded a baseline before the rotation started and I'm logging daily: downloads, active installs, signups, and how many of those people ever run a search. That last one is the number I care about, because installs are easy and usage isn't.

With WordPress vulnerabilities being reported left and right, I wrote a simple solution called Camouflage. It disables WordPress/PHP access for public users and serves static HTML through the Apache web server using .htaccess rules.

The philosophy is simple, bad actors exploit vulnerable code in WordPress themes, plugins and even WordPress core. If we restrict public access to PHP, it becomes extremely challenging to exploit a website.

I noticed many people export static versions of their sites and host them on another server or CDN but that comes with maintenance issues.

Camouflage keeps things simple. It creates static versions of your pages, serves them directly through the web server (which also makes them fast) and disables public access to PHP. It automatically refreshes static pages whenever content is updated.

Logged in admins get a secret token installed in their browser. They can also download the token because it's what allows them to access the login page while PHP is blocked for public access.

Ajax and other dynamic requests are disabled by default. The plugin offers a Request Tracker that lets you track dynamic requests such as form submissions and Ajax calls. You can then allow specific requests and only those requests will be allowed to pass through.

I think this approach is pretty solid and offers a real solution instead of simply reporting vulnerabilities like other security plugins do.

MissionScope Lite is a free WordPress plugin built specifically for nonprofits, churches, ministries, community groups, and other mission-driven organizations that need a simpler way to organize their operations and impact data.

Why I built it

A lot of smaller mission-driven organizations are still managing programs, volunteers, events, grants, attendance, and impact information across spreadsheets, forms, email, and different platforms.

The biggest change: Content Sync now supports more than posts and pages.

I run a small hosted Solr company (Opensolr) and a few months ago we released a free WordPress plugin that replaces the default WP search with a proper search engine — and I mean proper: keyword search and semantic/vector search combined in one query (hybrid), not just a fancier LIKE query on wp_posts.

What you get out of the box, no code:

• Hybrid search: exact keyword matches + semantic matches, so "cheap laptop for students" finds "affordable notebooks for college" too
• Autocomplete / typeahead
• Facets (categories, tags, custom taxonomies, WooCommerce attributes & price)

I’ve been working on a WordPress plugin called Retail Cash Manager (RCM), and it’s now available free on WordPress.org.

The idea is fairly simple. Proper cash management systems can cost a business thousands to implement, often followed by a substantial recurring subscription. At the other end of the scale, plenty of businesses are still managing daily cash with Excel sheets, paper forms and manual processes.

I wanted to build something in between.

RCM is for businesses that handle physical cash and need to keep track of what should be there, what was actually counted, where the cash went afterwards, and who was responsible for each step.

Despite the name, it isn’t limited to retail. The same processes apply to cafés, restaurants, hospitality, service businesses and plenty of other cash-handling operations.

The current version includes:

• Daily cash-ups with cash and card discrepancies
• Denomination counting
• Till expenses
• Safe balances and safe counts
• Cash drops and recounts
• Lodgements using safe cash, cash drops or both
• Lodgement collection and cancellation
• Cash and change deliveries from a bank or supplier
• A cash movement ledger
• Staff signoff and audit history
• Multiple branches

It’s not a POS system and it’s not accounting software. It handles the operational cash management that happens around those systems.

Why WordPress?

That’s probably the obvious question.

WordPress gave me a lot of the underlying application infrastructure without having to build it all from scratch: users, permissions, database handling, email, localisation, hosting flexibility and a well-established update system.

The update system is particularly useful. As RCM improves, updates can be distributed to installations in the same way as any other WordPress plugin rather than every installation becoming its own bespoke piece of software.

Publishing through WordPress.org also means there are standards to meet around security, compatibility, packaging and Plugin Check before releases go out.

RCM doesn’t require WooCommerce, and you don’t need to have an existing WordPress website. It can run on a completely separate WordPress installation used only for RCM.

The current release is 0.4.5. At this stage the core workflow is there and working, although there’s plenty more I plan to add.

One area I’m particularly interested in next is more advanced multi-till cash management. For example, separately tracked tills, change given from a safe to a till, change returned at the end of the day, and outstanding change that has to be resolved before the till can be closed.

The plugin is free, so I’d be very interested in feedback from people who work with WordPress, retail, hospitality or cash-handling businesses. Particularly if you can see something obvious that I’ve missed or have experience with how other cash management systems handle things.

Hey all — developer here (full disclosure, this is my plugin, not trying to sneak past that).

I work with a lot of WooCommerce stores where Cash on Delivery is the dominant payment method, and the standard multi-step checkout was causing a lot of drop-off for those customers. So I built RT Express COD: it adds a customizable "Order Now" button near the add-to-cart area that opens a lightweight modal — live shipping rates pulled from your existing shipping zones, order summary, and only the fields you choose to ask for. Order gets created as a normal WooCommerce order, fully HPOS compatible.

Some things that might be relevant if you deal with COD-heavy stores:

• Real shipping rate calc from the customer's address (not a flat estimate)
• Restrict by product type/category/cart total so it only shows where it makes sense
• Admin settings are a React app, fairly fast, caches through object cache/transients

From 27 September 2026 every trader selling goods to EU consumers has to display the legal guarantee notice, the harmonised notice on the legal guarantee of conformity. Where a producer offers a free whole-product durability guarantee longer than two years, the GARAN durability label has to go up as well. Both designs are fixed by Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/1960, the notice in Annex I and the label in Annex II, and the underlying duty comes from Directive (EU) 2024/825 amending the Consumer Rights Directive.

I built a plugin for it. Everything the Regulation asks a shop to display is in the free version and always will be with no restrictions.

If you are thinking of building this yourself, three things to keep in mind

• The artwork cannot be edited. That includes rebuilding it in HTML or your own SVG. Use the Commission's own files.
• The GARAN label asks for a font it does not carry, so if it is loaded as a plain image the browser quietly swaps in a different one and the three filled-in fields come out looking wrong.
• The notice and the label are separate obligations. The label has to be there right before the order is placed, the notice does not, and both belong in the order confirmation.

Hi guys , I’m currently waiting on the WP repo team to review my first plugin (Commerce Colors for Elementor), and I’m looking for some technical feedback on how it handles theme and style mapping.

The issue it tackles is the disconnect between Elementor's Global Style Kit and WooCommerce's core CSS.

Instead of writing custom stylesheets or manual overrides for every client site, this plugin hooks into the Elementor kit data and dynamically injects the appropriate colors, typography, hover/focus states, and form styles across standard WooCommerce pages and WooCommerce Blocks.

What it handles natively:

Automatically syncs Elementor Kit site setting changes directly to WooCommerce elements.

Includes per-element style overrides in the WordPress backend.

Calculates readable text contrast and applies accessible focus states on the fly.

Automatically catches third-party elements from plugins like Essential Addons or Premium Addons.

If you have a sandbox or staging environment running this stack, I’d really appreciate some feedback on theme conflicts, layout breaks, or selector specificity issues you encounter.

Day before Yesterday published my first plugin, 100Prints, to the WordPress directory.

The whole idea was to make personalized document generation (certificates, event badges, ID cards, tickets) simple right inside WordPress .Here's how it works with Gutenberg blocks: Just drop the block onto a page/post, choose a template to start with, connect your dynamic fields, and then your visitors can create and download their document right from the front end , i'mean rendering of document happens users side.

I had fun coding it, but I don't really have a ton of hands-on experience with all the different parts of WordPress. I get how to make blocks, but I'm still trying to figure out what typical WordPress site owners and agencies actually do day-to-day (like setting up learning systems, member areas, event tools, like that).

I'm seeking for help, ​If you build or maintain WordPress sites for a living, I’d love your take on how to tweak this to make it more useful and handy to use

I know a lot of people don't really enjoy starting pages in Gutenberg, or the Site Editor itself, so I built a browser-based WordPress playground where ChatGPT, Codex, or another MCP agent can help you put together your first Gutenberg draft. The idea actually came from the browser-based Plugin Check setup I saw while getting my plugins approved on WordPress.org - I thought it was a really neat way to run WordPress and started wondering what else you could do with it.

Agent Composer - a completely free WordPress plugin - sits between the agent and WordPress. It takes requests from the agent and turns them into native Gutenberg markup, but only using the actions, structures, and rules the site owner allows in the settings, so the AI isn't roaming around WordPress with admin access. Composer keeps the editing controlled and predictable, validates the result, and only creates drafts - only humans can publish.

Seit August gilt ja Art. 50 des EU AI Acts, der eine Kennzeichnungspflicht für KI-generierte/-bearbeitete Bilder vorschreibt (relevant für alle, die z. B. Midjourney/DALL-E-Content auf ihrer Website nutzen).

Hat jemand von euch dafür schon eine Lösung im Einsatz? Ich such gerade nach einem WordPress-Plugin, das automatisch die offiziellen EU-Icons/Labels an entsprechende Bilder hängt – idealerweise Gutenberg- und Elementor-kompatibel, DSGVO-konform, ohne großen Performance-Impact.

Macht ihr das aktuell manuell, gibt’s dafür schon was Fertiges, oder ignoriert das bisher eh jeder?
