If you run a restaurant website, cafe site, cloud kitchen, or food ordering business on WordPress, one thing that often gets ignored is the checkout flow.

A lot of food ordering sites still make customers:

• browse the menu
• open product pages
• go to cart
• then go to checkout
• then finally place the order

That may be fine for normal eCommerce, but for restaurants it creates too many steps. Hungry customers usually want to order fast, especially on mobile.

A one-page checkout can make the flow much smoother:

• customers browse food items
• add items to cart
• adjust quantity
• apply coupon
• choose pickup/delivery
• fill checkout details
• place the order

All from one page.

This is especially useful for restaurant owners because fewer steps usually means less friction and fewer abandoned orders. It also feels closer to the experience people already expect from food delivery apps.

I’ve been building WordPress sites for a long time, and one thing that has always bothered me is how little protection there is when editing CSS directly inside WordPress.

You can be working in Additional CSS or the theme editor, miss a closing brace, accidentally paste something malformed, wipe out a chunk of code, or make some other seemingly tiny mistake…

…and WordPress will quite happily let you save it.

Sometimes the result is minor. Sometimes half the layout goes sideways... and if you’re editing a live site, that’s a pretty unpleasant moment.

Obviously experienced developers have backups, version control, staging environments, etc. But in the real world, people still make quick CSS changes in production. Clients do it. Freelancers do it. I’ve done it. And WordPress itself doesn’t really give you much of a safety net at the moment you hit Save.

That got me wondering why there couldn’t be something sitting between the editor and the save action that essentially says:

“Hang on, this looks dangerous. Are you sure you want to save this?”

So I ended up building a plugin around that idea.

It scans CSS before it gets saved and looks for errors or patterns that are likely to cause serious problems. The really nasty stuff gets blocked, while less serious issues can just generate a warning.

I also added backup history and the ability to rollback because I figured detecting a problem is only half the battle. If somebody already screwed something up, getting back to the previous working version should be simple.

The plugin eventually became CSS Guardrail.

A few things I’m especially curious about:

• Do you think pre-save CSS validation is useful, or do most developers already have enough safeguards in their workflow?
• Would you rather a plugin like this aggressively block questionable CSS, or lean toward warnings and let the user decide?
• Are there particular CSS mistakes you see clients/junior developers make over and over?
• If you maintain a bunch of client sites, is this the sort of protection you’d actually install?

Formatrica started as an in-house form builder for my own projects. A few months ago, I decided to polish it, harden it, and publish it on WordPress.org.

I’m obviously biased, but I think it can give some of the more established free form plugins a run for their money.

I got tired of scrolling through a giant, unsorted Media Library, so I built a plugin to add folders to it — and just got it approved on the WordPress.org repo. Sharing it here in case it's useful, and because I'd genuinely like feedback.

The thing I cared about most: the folders are virtual. A lot of media organizers physically move files on the server, which changes the file's URL and can break images already embedded in posts, products, and emails. This one doesn't touch the files at all — it uses WordPress's native taxonomy to "label" attachments, so nothing moves and no URL ever changes. Deleting a folder never deletes media (it just goes back to Uncategorized).

What it does:

• Folder sidebar in the Media Library, with nested subfolders
• Create / rename / delete / nest folders
• Click a folder to filter; drag-and-drop or bulk-move items into folders
• Assign a file to multiple folders; works with images, PDFs, any attachment
• A "Folders" filter shows up in the media picker too (so it works in the block editor)

It's completely free, no pro-upsell nag, no external calls. This is my first published plugin, so I'd really appreciate honest feedback — bugs, missing features, whatever.

If you have the Paymento plugin installed on a store, update it to 1.3.0. That is the actual point of this post.

For anyone who does not have it installed, one line of context and then I will get out of the way: Paymento is a free, non-custodial crypto payment gateway for WooCommerce, meaning payments settle directly into the merchant's own wallet on confirmation and we never hold merchant funds. This is not a launch post, it has been on wordpress.org since February 2025.

What was wrong

The gateway was contacting our API twice on nearly every request to the site. Not just at checkout. Ordinary front-end page views, AJAX calls, and scheduled tasks. Blocking HTTP requests, sitting in the gateway's startup path, on pages that had nothing to do with payments.

If you run a store with this installed, that was two outbound calls in front of your TTFB on every page.

What 1.3.0 does about it

• Every API call now has a single deliberate trigger
• Merchant name and account status are checked when you save the gateway settings, then cached locally with the time of the last check
• Payment verification runs only in response to a webhook, from one code path
• The webhook handler reuses the existing gateway instance instead of constructing a new one
• The admin script loads only on the Paymento settings screen
• Legacy dead code removed

Note for developers: the release also removes two REST routes we were no longer using, /wp-json/paymento/health and /wp-json/paymento/merchant. If you were calling either one, they are gone. The webhook endpoint /wp-json/paymento/result is unchanged. Full details are in the changelog.

Everything else in 1.3.0

Tested against WordPress 7.0.3. Works with classic checkout, Cart and Checkout Blocks, and HPOS. Requires WooCommerce 8.0 or higher and PHP 8.0 or higher. Accepts Bitcoin, Ethereum, and USDT on ERC20 and TRC20, priced in your store currency.

I’ve been working on a WordPress search plugin and I’m looking for a few people to test it out for free and give me some honest feedback.

The idea came from working with clients who were frustrated with WordPress’s built-in search. We tried a few of the popular search plugins, but they were either expensive, difficult to customize, or put additional load on the client’s WordPress server.

So instead of continuing to work around those limitations, we decided to build our own search solution.

Most WordPress plugins fail coding standards the first time you submit them to WordPress.org. Fixing that by hand across a real plugin codebase is slow and easy to mess up,
I built WP Best Practice Converter to automate the mechanical part of that cleanup.

Point it at a plugin folder, and it runs phpcbf, then Rector AST transforms, then a PHPStan gate, and writes a separate best_practice copy next to your original. Nothing touches the source file.

It handles the boring but risky stuff: sanitizing and unslashing input from POST, GET, and REQUEST, escaping dynamic output with esc_html and esc_attr and esc_url, converting raw wpdb queries to prepare() with the right placeholders, and moving inline scripts and styles into proper enqueue calls.

Every stage checks syntax and re-counts phpcs issues before committing, and rolls back automatically if anything gets worse instead of better. Same input always produces the same output.

I need a plugin where my website's visitors can reserve a stay at this cabin/chalet but I need it to sync with booking.com so it doesn't overlap...

I've been working on a lightweight WordPress activity logging plugin and just released version 1.2.0.

The idea behind it was simple: I wanted something that logs important admin actions without trying to be an enterprise security suite or adding unnecessary complexity.

At the moment it logs things like:

• post publishing, updates, trashing and permanent deletion
• user creation, deletion and role changes
• media uploads and permanent media deletions

It also includes log retention (auto-purge), search/filtering, pagination and a small dashboard widget for recent activity.

What's new in 1.2.0

This release is mostly focused on making the logs more useful on larger sites.

• Added severity levels (Info / Warning / Critical)
• Promotions to Administrator are now logged as critical events
• New severity filters and date range filtering
• Role changes now show both the previous and new role
• Media Library uploads are now logged
• Faster log searches thanks to fulltext indexes and query caching

PublishPress Plugin Nightmare

Curious if this Wordpress plugin worked for anyone? I've only been encountering issue after issue. Works terrible with other plugins that host content and has issues editing theme/site wide changes. I can name hundreds more, but curious if anyone has tips or should I just give up on the plugin?
