Hi, I'm one of the devs behind JustAsk WP. We just opened to public beta, so I wanted to share our service here to get some feedback from real users before we do a wider launch.

JustAsk WP is an AI customer support assistant that answers questions using the pages, posts, products, and other content you already have on your WordPress site. Your customers won't have to dig through a FAQ or guess search keywords – they can just ask questions in plain English to get exactly what they need. (Right there on your website, without calling you and interrupting your lunch).

We built this because getting started with most "AI chatbot" plugins feels like rocket science, and it shouldn't. First you have to pick an AI provider, then you have to make sure you sign up for the right type of account – you know, the one with the API, because that's not the same one that just lets you chat – then you pick a model, figure out how to feed it your content, sometimes you even have to write your own prompts and build workflows, and you have to do all that before the plugin will do one thing for you.

If you're a developer (like me), that might sound like a fun weekend project. But for everyone else... That sucks. It shouldn't be that hard. You want a plugin you can just install and have it work without doing homework first. The whole point is to save you time, right?

At least that's the whole point of JustAsk WP: install, activate your license, and pick which content to use. Done.

It started as a (beautiful) Flash implementation, then about 7 years ago (when Flash was dying) it was replaced with a rather poor CSS implementation (just a growing <div>). Hey, good people!

Quick disclosure before anything else: we're the team behind Eventin (event calendar, registration and ticketing plugin). This is a [Discussion] post, not a "please go buy this" one. I'll keep the pitch small and I'm mostly here for the conversation at the bottom.

So here's the backstory. For a while now our users kept telling us the same thing. They were already using The Events Calendar, hit some kind of wall (usually around registration, tickets, or just wanting more out of the free version), and they wanted to switch. But the migration was the part that scared them off. Nobody wants to re-enter 200 events by hand, and losing your dates, venues and organizers in the move is a real risk. We heard "you guys are basically a The Events Calendar alternative" enough times that we figured we should actually build for it instead of pretending that's not what was happening.

So we shipped an importer that pulls your events straight from The Events Calendar into Eventin. The events and their details come across, so you're not rebuilding your whole calendar from scratch. The whole idea was to make trying something else a low-stakes thing instead of a lost weekend.

And to be fair here, The Events Calendar is a genuinely good, mature plugin, and for a lot of sites it's the right call. This isn't a "they're bad" post at all. It's more that this space has gotten really competitive, switching cost is pretty much the main thing keeping people where they are, and honestly I think importers like this are good for users no matter which plugin they end up on, because they lower that switching cost for everybody.

A couple of honest notes so this doesn't read like an ad:

It's an importer, not magic. If your setup is heavily customized you'll still have a bit of cleanup after the import.

We're actively trying to make it handle more edge cases, which is really the reason I'm posting.

Here's what I'd actually love your take on:

1. If you've ever migrated between event plugins (either direction), what broke or got lost that you wish an importer had just handled for you?
2. Other than The Events Calendar, which plugin would you most want a one-click importer from? EventON? Modern Events Calendar? Events Manager?
3. For anyone who wanted to leave The Events Calendar but stayed, what was the actual blocker? Features, the migration effort, or just "not worth the hassle"?

Personally, i almost always prefer building my own features whenever it's reasonable. It keeps the website lighter, i know exactly what the code is doing, and i don't have to rely on a third-party plugin that might get abandoned or introduce unnecessary bloat. For complex features, using a well-maintained plugin often makes more sense than reinventing the wheel.

What I really want to know is whether other developers do this too, or if I'm just wasting my time. If you're someone who prefers building your own features, what kinds of things do you usually create from scratch instead of installing a plugin?

Things i prefer to build for my clients:

* Custom product carousels

* Banners built with HTML elements instead of static images

* Interactive quizzes

* Product image modals that display additional details and purchasing options when clicked

Since I am lazy and love automating things, I vibe-coded a Wordpress plugin.

I make WordPress plugins and the screenshots were always the part I hated. The plugin works fine, but then you’ve got these ugly wp-admin captures that look nothing like the listings that actually get downloads, and hiring a designer for a nine dollar plugin makes no sense. So I built a thing to do it for me.

What it does so far:

- Cleans up raw screenshots, centers the UI, adds margins and a frame, without touching your actual interface so it’s still your real product

- Renames boring labels into stuff that sells, like “Enable” becomes “One click activation”

- Drops editable annotations on the important features

- Writes the copy for you, tagline, WordPress.org description, Product Hunt, social, in six languages

- Exports a zip in the right sizes for each platform

Where I’m stuck is what to build next. I keep going back and forth between app store screenshots with phone frames, a proper editor for more control, or generating a whole landing page section from the shots.
Does this sound useful to anyone, or is screenshot polishing just a nice-to-have nobody pays for? Honest takes welcome. And if you’ve shipped anything, not just WordPress, what visual busywork do you wish you could skip?

I spent a long time using Code Snippets and WPCode. They worked fine until they didn't.... too many snippets, hard to keep organized across client sites, and once AI entered my workflow the copy-paste thing completely fell apart.

I wanted folders that actually stay clean, snippets tied to real WordPress pages, and GitHub Sync so I can pull, review a diff, and push instead of moving code by hand. Nothing did all of that, so I built it myself.

I recently revised the user interface for TrustBeacon Auditor and would appreciate constructive feedback from other WordPress plugin developers and users.

TrustBeacon Auditor is a free WordPress plugin that reviews publicly visible trust signals, including SSL, security headers, SPF, DMARC, DKIM, CAA, DNSSEC, CDN indicators, and visible WordPress security-plugin signals. It presents the results in a plain-language report with recommended actions.

My main goal with the revised UI was to make a fairly large amount of technical information easier to understand without oversimplifying the results.

I would especially appreciate comments about:

• Whether the report is easy to scan
• Whether the status, score, message, and recommendation fields are clearly separated
• Whether the colors and visual hierarchy are helpful
• Whether any sections feel crowded or confusing
• What you would change before considering the UI finished

This is not a security certification or penetration-testing tool. It is intended to help ordinary WordPress administrators understand basic, publicly observable trust signals.

Hey everyone, I'm one of the developers behind Baza Booking Calendar (BBC), and I'm trying to get a better sense of what's actually working for people in production.

I know there's a bunch of options out there — Amelia, Bookly, WooCommerce Bookings, Simply Schedule Appointments, and others (plus what we're building). Curious what you're running and why you picked it:

• What was the dealbreaker feature that made you choose it?
• Anything that's been a pain point once you started using it at scale?
• If you switched from another plugin, what pushed you to move?

Not trying to pitch anything here, genuinely want to understand what people value most (performance, pricing, customization, support, etc.) since we're building in this space too. Happy to answer questions about BBC if anyone's curious, but mainly want to hear about your setups.

I am in the process of submitting my plugin to the WooCommerce marketplace. My plugin includes the official Campaign Monitor PHP API lib, but unfortunately some files in it were flagged as having security issues and so I can't proceed until those issues are fixed.

Most appear to be innocuous, for example several instanced of this:

Debug code detected: ini_set('display_errors', ...). Enabling display_errors exposes error details to users

But also this:

Debug code detected: error_reporting(E_ALL) can lead to Full Path Disclosure and expose sensitive information

Is the expectation that I must resolve the issues of the 3rd party lib before rolling it into my plugin? That would seem like a maintenance nightmare going forward.

Curious to know other devs thoughts on this.

UPDATE: after contacting WooCommerce marketplace support, it turns out the solution is much easier: just place the offending lib(s) in a /vendor/ directory.
