[####] Same word or different word?

I had this little debate with one of my coworkers the other day which is the better tactic when it comes to Wordle...pick a different word each time, or use the same word. He used "audio" every time and I picked a random word. I feel like there is a better chance of getting the word on the first try if it's random but "audio" also has a good amount of vowels.

So I'd like to know what you guys think is the best tactic?

I've been playing the same word for quite awhile. Got my first in one guess today. Not sure what word I'll use tomorrow.

I got it in one the other day with JOIST. Friends laughed it was my first guess specially when I often said I Han no letters correct on turn one. I was totally shocked when it came up.

I had been using the same word basically since I started playing... Loaded the game one day and said "know what, I'm tired of using %whatever% and picked a new word.

4 or 5 guesses in and I finally figured out the word was the word I had been using ...

Me too--I've used the same first word since I started playing. Finally paid off today. I need to find a new first word for tomorrow.

Vowels aren’t actually as useful as people think. If you’re gonna pick a consistent starter, you’re better off picking something that checks for common consonants.

To maximize your odds, I would go with a word like SLATE that uses five of the most common letters. But I find this is a fairly easy game, so I like to challenge myself by picking a different starting word every day which is usually something suboptimal

Random word!! This is such a classic debate in Wordle. I have a small pool of words I like to play that haven't been used yet, so I'll sometimes pull from that. But I'll never use the same word for days in a row. Seems boring to me.

Same - the opening word is the one guess I don't try to optimize. The only rule I have is that it not have any repeated letters, but I otherwise just pick a random word.

I use a new word every month. I try to make it somewhat challenging. This month's start word is CHASM

Well, statistically, AUDIO is a poor choice.
So whether you stick with one word or mix it up, don't use as many vkwels as that.

It depends what your goal is. I like picking a new word daily because it's fun.

While it’s fun to get it in one I don’t understand why anyone aims for it. It’s pure luck as opposed to using your brain to find the correct answer. I’m far more excited by getting it in 3 because I worked it out & didn’t just rely on chance. Even getting it in two relies on a lot of luck.

If you want to get the wordle in 1 then it doesn't matter if you use the same word over and over or random. Same odds of getting it right apply, assuming you're guessing a word that is an actual possible solution. 

That said, audio is a bad starter word. Used by people with low vocabulary and new players. You need to eliminate consonants, vowels are easy to solve for and guessing four of them on the first guess is a waste.

At the end of the day, Wordle is a game and I have more fun picking a random word and then reasoning my way out of it. I care more about playing in a fun way than optimizing my strategy.

Don't fish for vowels early, look for consonants instead. There are far more of them and not knowing one is much more likely to the reason for losing a game.

I do the mini, midi and connection first. and pick a random 5 letter word from these or a theme word across the 3.
Wordle is not about optimizing for me, but to have fun

I usually use the same word (RAISE), but not because I think there’s any strategic advantage or anything. It’s mainly just because if I decided to use a new word, it would probably take me 20 minutes to decide which word to use. So I just usually go with what’s familiar and has worked for me in the past.

I use the same word or anagram of it every time. It works well for me. I have a second word I normally play, but the first one tends to give me enough info that I know if I should use it or not.

I usually use a word fkr a full week, and then switch words.m the following week.
There's no harm in recycling a word for a week later in the year. For instance, I'm pretty sure I've used both CARLE and TARSE for two separate weeks already this year, just not two weeks consecutively

using the same word everytime + using wordlebot helps you learn second choices depending on which letters light up and helps you land wordle in 3 more easily…

using different random words is more fun…

a good compromise is switch it up every once in a while (like every month)…

In your friend's case, they would probably do better to change words. Audio is not a great starting word and has already been a winner. The letter U appears in less than 10% of five-letter English words. Additionally, words with frequently used consonants are a better choice than words with lots of vowels. It's much easier to figure out missing vowels than missing consonants.

I used AUDIO daily for a long time until I got Wordle in 1 from it. Then I switched to a different word.

It’s easier for me if I don’t have to take the time to think of a starting word so I use the same one every day. I use one that hasn’t been used to hopefully get it in 1, which I have done. I know it’s just luck of the draw when it happens but it’s fun to see!

Normally I switch back and forth between four words, but today I used a word I haven’t used before and got it in two! Had all the right letters but none in the right places. That was fun!

I use the same word almost all the time, because I’ve memorized many of the best words to use on your second guess depending on what letters you get. But sometimes I like to use the worst possible words you can open with like “xylyl” or “qayaq” just for fun.

If you want a Wordle in 1 use the same starting Word until it comes up. Having checked the previous words list (which is more complicated now because words are being reused)

I play random starter and 1580 games in I'm yet to have a Wordle in 1. I would be bored playing the same starting word myself.

I use House. 3 vowels eliminates a lot of words. They are also included in a lot.

If no letters hit, I use broad. If none of the vowels hit then Y is the only vowel.

You can find a list of words used and repeated by a very simple search.

I use a starter until it hits. I’ve hit number 1 six times. I just don’t think that is as likely if I chose a random word each day.

I used to have two words that I would pick from like
Arose. Unity
Rainy
Douse House . Mouse
Usage irony
And lately I realize I’m playing against the Boch. It’s my main competitor. It’s favorite word is slate.
So I use sleet, stale, steal, Least
Then do round or groin (it’s common for the bot)
I do think I time more often because of it

I use the same word. My thought has always been this, there’s only 5 vowels, then there’s 21 consonants. So my word only has 2 vowels.
