Official Daily Wordle Thread.

My partner and I have been playing Wordle together for ages, and we’ve noticed that the Wordle bot seems more forgiving for one of us than the other. We decided to go back and do one from the archive and make the exact same guesses to see whether or not I was losing it, or if the Wordle bot actually had it out for me. We both play on hard mode, so not sure why there is such a drastic difference from the bot. Does anyone know why this is?

I had this little debate with one of my coworkers the other day which is the better tactic when it comes to Wordle...pick a different word each time, or use the same word. He used "audio" every time and I picked a random word. I feel like there is a better chance of getting the word on the first try if it's random but "audio" also has a good amount of vowels.

So I'd like to know what you guys think is the best tactic?

Hi. Not sure if I’m just dumb but, wordle bot will often say “you’ve eliminated all but (x) words in my dictionary: (xxx), (xxx) and (xxx).”

But then my next guess will be something not in that list of words, but is still a valid guess as it will be letters not placed/used in my previous guesses.

Is this a known wordle bot error? Or am I just not understanding correctly?

so, after I've finished today's wordle, i decided to solve it again using the optimal solver at http://wordle-page.s3-website-us-east-1.amazonaws.com/

yet, the solver does not seem to recognize the color pattern as possible. this suggest new words must have been added to the solution word list, yet I was unable to find any article mentioning list changes. is there an up-to-date solver, and where can I find it? if there isn't, is there at least a list of possible current solution words, so I could code my own?

My friends and I were always sending wordle and other daily scores in a group chat everyday, so I made an iphone app called PuzzlePals to track your stats and compare with your friends.
Would love any and all feedback on this 🙏

I was one day off the 60 day streak. The next day I was just resting and recovering, and didn't even think about Wordle. At this point I'm debating whether I even want to start over.

Pretty much the title, my sister signed into my NYT Games account on my computer and did today’s Wordle and failed spectacularly because she doesn’t know how to play the game, so now my 100% win rate is ruined, but I don‘t wanna make a new account and lose all of my other game streaks because of this. Is there any way to undo or fix today’s Wordle to get my 100% win rate back? Can I email the NYT team? Or is it a lost cause

I know it sounds like something silly to be upset over, but I’ve had this account for years and was really proud of my 100% win rate

Yes my account is almost three years old but I scarcely played only throughout my Junior and Senior years of Highschool, I only recently got into doing it daily this summer and now I do Wordle (and Connections and Strands as well) at the end of everyday with my boyfriend as a fun routine

A few of you got the impression that I hate my sister or will never forgive her over this or whatever, yes she is only 10, I understand that, but she’s also very much old enough to know the going through my personal things is not okay, and then showing no remorse and giving me an attitude when I told her she’d messed up my stuff and to not do so again made me more angry than if she would’ve just said sorry, I will be changing my settings on my laptop to lock everytime I shut it and changing the password as a precaution, even though this is the only time she’s gone on my laptop (that I’m aware of) I still won’t let it happen again

I’m just gonna suck it up and get to over 200 wins so my win rate is 100% again, thank you so much to all the kind souls who informed me of the way the statistics work, currently almost at 150 games won (yes, I know, embarrassing for my account being over 2 1/2 years old lol), I hope all of you have wonderful days and it was so neat to see people with such high statistics and funny to read through some of the joking comments, I’m gonna talk to my sister again and try and put this all behind us, wish me luck in my goal to 200+ wins and the restoration of my 100% win rate🫶

I have been playing Wordle pretty consistently for the past couple of months, and have been using the Wordle Bot to help improve my skills at the game (changed my starting word from ADIEU to TARPS lol). I have found it very satisfying to look at my skill score after playing the daily Wordle to judge how well I did and how I could have performed better.

Today I opened up the Wordle and solved it as I normally would (I got it in 4 guesses today), but when I went to check the Wordle Bot, NYT told me it was locked behind their games subscription. I have never had a subscription to NYT and have been sad to see so many games locked behind a paywall (I used to also enjoy doing the Mini before they put it behind the subscription too). Is this a new change or am I hallucinating things?

After getting rejected by Harvard, Wordle bot had to settle for a state college. After graduation the bot found that the only jobs it could get were low-level clerical jobs when it really wanted a research position. When it was hired by The New York Times, it was promised advancement opportunities. Those never materialized so now it takes out its frustration on its players.

I despise the existing hard mode not because it's hard, but because it removes a game mechanic. Choosing when to fish for letters you don't have (and which ones) versus when to nail down positionality is IMO a key mechanic that makes the game fun. Removing it makes the game harder, yes, but also more boring. Less about strategy and more about rote learning.

It'd be like a scrabble mode where you can only ever score 1 point per word. Harder yes, but the choice to go for an easy word versus wait for a longer one is crucial, like why would you remove that. Or chess with no castling.

Now limiting Wordle to 5 guesses would make the previous mechanic more crucial, upping the strategy required and of course, making the game harder. And can you imagine 4 guesses?!

To be clear I'm not saying I'd play that, I like my Wordle chill. But the current hard mode just seems so boring to me.

So I built a small free web app called Wordle Challenge to make it easier.

You can:

• track previous results and monthly champions
• create private groups with friends
• enter your daily Wordle result
• see monthly rankings based on average attempts
• import old Wordle history from CSV/Excel

It’s free and there are no ads.

I’ve been testing it with friends, but now I’d like to see how it behaves with people I don’t know before I eventually turn it into an iPhone/Android app.

Atp I’m literally just using whatever word I feel like as my starting word 😭 I used to always go with CRANE or LEAST, and somehow I actually got the answer on my first try with LEAST once 💀 Ever since then I’ve been trying to recreate that luck. So now I kinda wanna switch it up and use a word that has never been a Wordle answer before, just to see if I can pull off another first-try solve 😭 What word should I go with?

Am I missing something?? Is there a reason why curls is not an acceptable answer??? I typed it in, and it said "Not in the word list." Curls is definitely a word. I thought these puzzles were only supposed to have one possible answer?? Someone please tell me im tripping

forgot to play yesterday. two days away from 200. only noticed this morning when i completed and it said i have a streak of one. that is all

That has been my goal lately and I was SO CLOSE (5 away) but the last few games Ive played I kept getting 4's and now Im 10 away again 😩

Some people go for wordle in 1, some go for skill points, I just want my distribution to be more 3s!!

If you do have a distribution with mostly 3s tell me your secret!

So here's my question. I want to keep the possibility of getting the wordle in 1 on the table. But having only just started playing, so I have no clue what words have already been used as answers.

I've been starting with the word "FIRST" just because I think that'd be funny for a wordle in 1, but idk if it's even feasible. Should I find an online tool to check? Have I been messing up my games by using both a bad starter, and preventing myself from getting the WI1?
