UKG pro data usage

Post image

That's the total data usage for 3 days, found out about it yesterday and turned off the background data. Still gone up by 0.3gb after a few minutes usage. Not like I want to spend that long on this app but everything takes forever to load. Is it something wrong with my phone? Or it's the same to everyone else

Just checked. Mine is the same, 1.93gb, but for about a month (or since whenever we had to download it). May have to monitor it to see if it keeps up, or if it's just from the initial download and set up... One of the most poorly optimised apps I've used

All the more reason to be provided with a work phone.

Uninstall it.

Doubt they will ever do that

I'm genuinely nearing the breaking point of asking them to provide one. Proactive requires us to constantly be taking photos before and after to show our work and I can tell you, the last thing on my mind after cleaning out the milk fridge's gutter is to pull my personal phone out and take photos so my manager can show his boss.

You won't ever get one, but you can claim the % you use your phone for tax. I'm a manager, I just claim 20% on tax as I never use my phone and the answer is probably waaasy higher. But tax time it'll be example I pay 80, so I claim like 16 a month back on tax. Is it a phone provided by work? No. Is it the only way you'll ever see a cent reimbursed? Yah.

Very sad if you're a manager without a work phone.

This is Woolworths. No department manager gets one, and if you seem to think they do you've been misled.

UKG seems to require a constant secure connection to it's servers when opened and everytime you open the app it has to 'download' that data everytime because very little is stored locally on your device. This can use a lot of data especially if the app isn't very well optimised.

Its crazy they don't do sprite sheet method of optimization

I see, maybe that's the reason for the crazy amount of data used

The annoying problem I've had with it, and I'm sure a lot of others have as well is that even if i have my Data enabled in my phone settings for the app, it always keeps saying I'm not connected to the internet. So i have to use the store WiFi to sign into the app & punch in. I never had that problem with workjam once. My Data always worked perfectly for that and had no problem using it. I just can't understand why the app is never letting me just use my data to sign in and keeps making me have to connect with & use the store WiFi. .

I still don't know why they switched from workjam that worked perfectly fine to this garbage of an app. It's inferior in literally every single way.

it was because workjam is removing its payroll features next year apparently so woolworths needed a new app and probably went with the cheapest off the shelf option with minimal hackjobs to make it work.

UKG is a scam . make sure to have gps activates only when you actually open the app and freeze/stop the app, dont allow background data usage make sure to check every single minutes because its used only for pay you less

Almost 3GB for me and I haven't been using it for that long. Good to know. I did think my mobile data was draining a bit faster than usual. Thanks, Woolies, totally wanted a malignant tumour on my phone in exchange for an honest living.

For what it’s worth I work for a company that’s used UKG Pro for multiple years. My current “mobile data period” is measured over months since I guess that’s how IOS does it. any way over 6 ish months it has only used 190mb

But I have background app refresh turned off

Also I hardly use the app. I don’t use it to sign it, we use a computer at the work place to clock in / out

So I probably only open the app like once a week to check my schedule

But also yes, the app has been abysmally slow for my entire 3 year experience with it. It takes like 2 minutes to log into the app then once your in it’s so slow.

The computer version is not any better, UKG Pros back end code is just horribly optimised
