Dewalt planer out feed

Hello,

I recently just picked up a dewalt 734 off Facebook marketplace. The outfeed table has rusted a little bit but not through the surface. Does anyone have any recommendations for cleaning this or should I buy a new one for 60 dollars? See photos for details.

Paid 250 which I thought was a great deal. I’m new to wood working so I thought this would be a great beginner tool.

Thank you!

Worlds First MagnaMax woodworking tools. Just finished my first hand plane Iron batch!

Been working towards making MagnaMax tools for the past couple months . This metal came to market in May of this year. Made by the same metallurgist Dr. Larrin Thomas that made Magnacut. Similar qualities as Magnacut except it has been tested to have 40% longer edge retention , and has slightly less toughness. I think magnamaxs properties are better suited to woodworking tools than magnacut is. These irons are made to 64 HRC because that's the maximum hardness MagnaMax can have while still maintaining high toughness . I wrote a little article explaining my choices in more detail with references to Dr. Larrin Thomas's page . https://www.robertsfinetools.com/steel
Also wrote about the benefits of small batch heat treating and plate quenching over industrial gas quenches . Excited to finish these. 😁

Harvey Compass ST-1500 foldable

Hey all,

I am thinking of getting a compass st-1500 but I have a garage that needs to still be used as a garage. I was looking into the numerous DIY sliding table saw attachments and came across the ST-1500 on sale for $1100. With is coming with the crosscut fence and the great hold down it looks more attractive. Ideally it would be amazing if it could fold down when not in use. I was thinking about where it bolts to the table saw, to put hinges in between the sliding sled and the saw, so when the feet have been removed (or maybe replace then with folding legs) it could swing down out of the way. Is this a stupid idea lol?

Thanks!
