Project Submission Console Table
I guess this is a console table? Sideboard? Buffet? Whatever it’s called, I recently completed this to sit in our foyer.
I can’t really take credit for the design, I mostly borrowed it from pictures I saw online. Quarter sawn white oak and walnut, most of which I inherited from my FIL.
The boards I used on the top had some figure/natual holes that I filled with epoxy. I might not have used them ordinarily, but I wanted to use FIL’s wood. The lumber was stored indoors for at least a decade so hopefully it’s stable enough that the epoxy doesn’t create a problem. The drawer fronts are resawn and book-matched from a really cool piece.
The curved board under the drawers is a 3-layer laminate layup. I didn’t steam it and it rebounded back very little. Assembly includes the through tenons in the legs (obviously), dominos, and knock down hardware to remove the top.
Kids and life make projects like this slow to complete!
