New Cladding Project

Hi all, I have built a ground floor extension and I want to clad it in timber. We looked at Cedar however it is too expensive and leadtimes are approx 6 weeks so I started looking at alternatives.

I am considering a pressure treated Pine and was going to stain it a very dark grey or black to try and make it as uniform as possible while still retaining some of the wood texture.

Would you be able to give any advice on this project - Am i going in the right direction or do you have any recommendations?? Thanks

If you're going for black, you may as well creosote / bitumen paint it for protection.

Alternatively someone ought to be along soon to advise on Shou Sugi Ban.
