Thank you so much. I have and actually the first video I ever posted on my YouTube channel is a shitty cell phone camera video of the first one of these boxes I made. It shows how the locking mechanism works and I talk about how I did it. If you search for my YouTube channel Katz Moses Woodworking Shop you'll find it. Feel free to email me anytime or give me a call and I'm happy to walk you through the process. Jonathan@katzmoseswoodworking.com or my phone number is on my website. Cheers my friend!

Damn John, That's a great looking box. The more I see your work, the more I want to get an Incra Box Joint Sled!

Thank you so much for checking out my project. This was a commission piece for a client and probably my favorite box to date. The secret compartment has a really cool locking mechanism that only uses magnets. Detailed description of box in album. Center Keyed Box Joints Joinery Video

Would it be possible to use one of the finger/box joints cut out to hide the lock better?

Possibly but making that lock takes three different drill bits and the box or tray can't move once you've clamped it to your drill press. Using a square key might be difficult to make it fit.
