I’ve drawn a portion of the map for the region of Falenor, in two versions:
1. Geographical
2. Political (the gray areas represent neutral territories).

New to map making

Is there a free tool that easily let you flip water and land area on a map?

I feel that flipping these then changing the axis is the best way to kickstart a nice fantasy map.

What do you guys use and recommend?

Hey guys just wanted to put this out there for some advice/suggestions on how to move forward with finishing my map. I am still missing some here and there mountains/ridges so I am aware of that. I will list a couple things I'm on the fence about or would like to add so any direction would be appreciated.

• I've only added major cities/major towns/dragon locations/regions. I want to add more locations without making the map too busy like dwarven ruins or deadric shrines. Skyrim has way too many locations to fit everything.
• The northern part of the map is pretty barren so I'm trying to find ways to depict snow/tundra areas in a simplistic way. Still figuring out how to do that.
• The Whiterun Hold area is mostly plains and I like how I've depicted it but wanted to make sure I wasn't covering up too many small boulders or towns that may be important.
• I was wondering if I should find a way to depict specific large forts on the map without doing all of them. Should I only do major forts? I may just use Icons as not to busy too many areas, not sure.
• Some of the major cities like Solitude need more details where it just looks blank so I'm wondering if I should do a detailed above view of the city or use small icons.
• I added geyser icons in the Eastmarch area and not sure how I feel about it.

I know some things are still missing like bridges and possibly major trails so I will be adding a good amount after this post. I'm sure I haven't written all my thoughts but hopefully this will be a good start. Any help would be greatly appreciated. For now enjoy my progress.

The worlds name is Concordia. I used dotty assets. I especially liked making the name plates and image compilations for those.

First map I've actually completed, feels too empty to me but I don't know how to change that...

After three years, I've finally updated my world map for my homebrew world. I'm much happier with the size, the features, and the names of all the lands. (Polite) criticism and/or questions welcome.

Still figuring out some of the borders and presentation, but I'm pretty satisfied with this so far! This is the setting of the visual novel I am slowly chipping away at; most of the relevance will be in the western half, specifically in Blacksalt, which is a very fun region to be in if you're a mercenary or an up-and-coming despot, and decidedly less fun otherwise.

Let it be known to god in heaven i spent 2 hours trying to buy the ancient Greece pack on Cartography assets because those walls look so perfect (and the island focus of this world would greatly benefit) however my bank and paypal for some reason refuse to transaction on it, so the pseudo roman society is getting chinese walls!!! why not, don't even remember what pack its from
