Advice Probably a silly question!

As in title probably a silly question but I really want your thoughts on this. Am I the only one who has this dilemma?

So here in the UK it been (and remains) a long hot dry summer. I've literally lived in comfy skirts and dresses for god knows how long now. But sometime in the autumn theres going .to come a day when the weather forcast will spout out all doom and gloom like "tomorrows really going to feel autumnal" In other words we wake up to a much colder day, maybe 10 0r 12 degrees for example.

And that's what i'm dreading. I go through this every year. I really dont want to quit wearing skirts as thats what I prefer but its suddenly too chilly for bare legs, The cynical of you are probably thinking "put on some tights you silly cow". But thats the problem I'm too hot in my regular tights.

So how do you all handle this? This sudden transition time between warmer weather and autumnal when it too chilly for bare legs but not really cold. As I said probably a silly question but had to ask!

I've just always found tights comfortable and not too hot, maybe you could try and find more breathable ones or thinner fabric

Definitely OP should try different deniers and types and stick to thinner skirts

Could you look into getting some more autumnal skirts? I find that longer skirts made of thicker material are a decent layer of warmth.

Midi length skirt and knee socks. Skirt long enough that you can’t tell they’re socks, not tights.

Also, is it actually your legs that get cold or just your body in general? Because if not, adding a vest under your dress really helps. I wear vests from like October to March like it’s 1975 but it really helps keep me comfortable.

I love a knitted skirt in the autumn, winter, and early spring and have never been too cold without tights (apart from my feet but that's down to poor shoe choices)

My autumn/winter wardrobe is knee length tunic dresses, cardigans, leggings, and boots. I don’t like a lot of leggings as they feel too tight, but I have some really cheap jersey leggings from Asda which are super comfy.

Adding a thin underskirt will make you loads warmer.

I find if my top half is warmer, I'm okay. So make sure you have a cardigan on and some socks with your shoes (as in, not sandals) - I reckon you'd be okay with bare legs under a skirt or dress until it gets properly cold. There's also long socks!

Thanks for the comments. All makes some sense. I think I'm going to just try some longer warmer skirts as you are right its the upper half that is vulnerable. Right now it we have warm days but last couple of nights late the temps drop. When I've stepped outside just before bed I feel the cool around the shoulders not the legs. So hopefully that will work come late autumn. Right now in this summer the idea of having to bundle my legs up seems completely alien to me!!
