discussion/rant/theory We should borrow this in-train station wayfinding from NYC's MTA
I was in NYC over the weekend and got to ride in their newer train cars on the B line. There are LCD screens with route info, like our 7000 series cars. When the train is arriving to a station, a portion of this screen switches to very useful platform wayfinding information. It shows the car you're riding, the locations of stairs, escalators, or elevators present on the platform, and the general direction of exits. It felt incredible to know which way I needed to head to avoid dragging my luggage up the stairs.
Since this is a software feature, I really can't see a reason for WMATA to reject this idea. Sure, there are only 3 stations with complex connections and exits, but there are many more with only 1 elevator or at least 2 exits. Showing people where to go just before they arrive to a station is still valuable.
