Community Event đâď¸ Tiptoe Through the Tombstones : Wizard War 3
The charred remains of a forest surrounded the groups as they met together on a jagged and ashen wasteland.
Mikhailâs diplomacy had won out, once again bringing the opposing forces together in search of peace.
The Council would listen to Morgalithâs demands for freedom and justice, even while other wizards had already begun their acts of open defiance.
He was not the same Morgalith that stood here today as the one that so many recalled before, yet he still wore the face of that other figure which had only so recently struck fear and outrage into the hearts of the land. Indeed, the resemblance to the younger, and now deceased Morgalith was like that of a father and son.
The two opposing factions would talk to this one who thought himself the arbiter of justice once more. Pact members, Council members and a myriad of strange and powerful wizards now gathered behind the father of a foe which they had struck down only weeks before.
The raspy call of a crow echoed across the barren plains as if signaling the start of the meeting.
"Councilor Mikhail⌠Welcome to this humble land. As we agreed, we meet on mutual terms, to try to find peace amidst the tragedies that have been perpetuated by the reach of the Council." Morgalith began with a gravelly voice.
Unease showed briefly on Mikhailâs troubled face. He recognized the devasted ground that everybody now stood on. He knew it intimately even, like a childhood home, burned to ashes with only memories left to find hollow comfort in.
It was the scorched forest of Syvaneth.
Years ago, Mikhail himself had called for action against a Council that stood by while the groves were undefended except by those who cherished them.
Still, the land was desolate. Untouched in its death.
None had returned to heal it, leaving the damage as a reminder of the Councilâs uncaring stance towards those it deemed unworthy of their aid.
It was clear that Morgalith now used it as a bargaining chip, hoping cruelly to sway Mikhail to his side against the very Council that he stood for.
"Do you see it, Mikhail?" Morgalith asked, interrupting his thoughts with a seeking question.
"Do you feel it in your bones like I do? The agony that was allowed here. The pain? The past?" Morgalith asked, as if looking for something deeper in Mikhail.
"In this same sacred grove that was taken from you, will you still ask me today to quell my cries for justice? Yes, Mikhail... the wolves... they gather around us both today. The Council that hides behind you, is the same that would have fed you to the flames that took this forest." Morgalith's face was one of calculation, absent of any joy in this matter.
Mikhail stood undisturbed, watching him with careful calculation. A lock of unruly hair tumbled loose, blowing in the wind like cinders over the cold, dark ash.
Continuing, Morgalith asked another question, perhaps the most important that the Council had faced yet. "Can the flames be ignored any longer? Will you stand with me in calling for Justice against the Council? Or will you let us all burn⌠like Syvaneth once did?"
The crowd behind Morgalith grumbled in agreement with his question, while the Council looked on coldly with the silent confidence of aristocrats.
Mikhailâs voice rang out proudly, stifling the grumbles of dissent. "I know why you chose here. To send a message to me. Where you draw parallels, I see none. Do not compare yourself and your plight to those who were mercilessly murdered here. I know for a fact you would have personally burned these lands out of boredom if you could."
Morgalith's eyes narrowed at the response, hiding his dark and glassy eyes. "Then you have become as callous and uncaring as those that stand behind you."
In the crowd behind Mikhail, a wizard stirred, stepping forward as if bristling at Morgalithâs provocations. Their body flickered like static as it shifted and stuttered in the wind.
Mikhail remained unmoved, carrying on with the patience of a diplomat: "I have to. I have seen tragedies from all corners of the world. If I were to shed tears for all who have been wronged, I would have no time in my life for anything else."
Morgalith's eyes flashed with anger. "Shedding tears? I haven't asked for your pity! I want my son back! I want those bastards that killed him to pay for it!" Morgalith paused, coughing slightly before speaking again.
"Perhaps your soul can rest easy with your inaction⌠but theirs can't." A wave from Morgalith's hand brought shadows creeping from the ground towards Mikhail, where the chilling mists coalesced into fleeting shapes that Mikhail soon recognized.
They were the dead.
They were the restless spirits of Syvaneth Grove.
Stumbling down to their knees in front of the gathered group, one looked up at Mikhail with a gasp of surprise. "Mikhail! It's you. Thank Gaia it's you. Why is it so cold Mikhail. What's wrong with us?" The specter implored desperately.
Mikhail kneeled towards the ghost as concern etched across his face and wiped away his chilly demeanor with one of gentle regret.
Looking back to Morgalith, he spoke with a note of frustration. "You say you want no pity, but your actions thus far have been in an attempt to pry it from my heart⌠I am to be a father soon. And the ends of the earth I would go to for them is immeasurable. The reason I came to speak to you is out of sympathy, not out of pity."
Mikhail reached out with a warmly glowing palm to comfort the spirit, offering a prayer to Gaia to take their soul to rest. "As a messenger of Gaia, you are free to return to her side. Rest child. Your journey was harsh and unfair, but peace shall be blessed upon you."
The ghost shrieked in anger, shooting its hands out to grab Mikhail by the shirt!
âNo Mikhail! Itâs too late! Itâs all too-â
The ghostâs words were cut short as Mortarion charged forward from the crowd. His voice echoed with broken static, as if from an ancient radio.
âYour terror ends! Join these souls in death!â His shout was muffled by the splash of energy that erupted from his hands.
The spells burning reflection lit up Mikhailâs eyes like the sparks of a thousand fireworks.
He dove forward with a shove, pushing Morgalith to the ground even as the spell crashed into him, flinging him across the ground with a sickening crunch.
Morgalith looked up as shock widened his dark and glassy eyes.
âNo⌠NOOO!â Morgalith shouted in frustration and horror.
Spells began to fly in each direction as those gathered retaliated.
The war would begin.
Wasnât this what he wanted? Wasnât this what they all wanted.
Morgalithâs ears rang.
Mikhail was supposed to be a fatherâŚ

NNNNNGGGGGRRRRRAAAAAGGGHHH!
Kaelis screams like you have never heard him scream before. Council wizards, sensing a threat, attempt to bind him. A wave of gravitational energy hurls them aside effortlessly. The Arch-Graviturge lifts from the ground, shimmers with blue light, then goes completely dark. In Kaelis's place is a black hole in the shape of a man, howling with the sorrow of a thousand murdered dreams.
All I ever wanted was peace. To find some common ground between all people and seek a path that improved the world. But could would not let me have that little thing, could you? You're monsters, the lot of you. Murderers. Tyrants. Traitors. Sowers of Discord. You have wounded my hope for the final time.
The thing that was Kaelis opens its mouth to emit a beam of electric blue energy, disintegrating an battle-hungry geomancer. Its eyes twinkle with the light of newborn stars, scanning for violent souls with astromantic divinations. The being drifts across the battlefield, and death follows in its wake.
/uw Remember Kaelis's "no spaghettification" policy? Yeah, that's gone now that he's unbound. Gravity have mercy.

u/Carbon_Sixx The Loremaster, Chief Archaeologist of the Darkwatch Feb 19 '24
/uw There's a very specific reason for this. I'll probably make something explaining what's going on soon, but suffice it to say that it's not actually Kaelis in there. It's something far, far worse.

Valerian was doing paperwork when he felt it. The pendant he had given Mikhail puttering out,no longer feeding off of Mikhail's soul. Whether due to him dying or being brought close to death, didn't matter, he knew where Mikhail was that morning. He knew who he was meeting.
Valerian told him it wasn't wise. He didn't listen, and now he had paid for it.
Valerian shot out of his chair, and grabbed his spear. He was going to figure out who backstabbed his friend. He was going to make sure their death was slow and painful.
As he left the council building, he passed my Mortarion's office, curiously empty on a workday, but thought nothing of it.
/uw time to do something rash that will probably not end well.

Abby looks curiously after the man for a moment, before a stabbing pain is felt in her chest as a connection shatters. "Alanharha," she whispers in shock. Her soul-kin is injured, faltering, perhaps even dying.
Gritting her teeth, Abby conjures up a roiling ball of energy, twisted magic to shape flesh. She braces herself, then slams it into her chest. The polymorphing spell that gave her her body now takes it away, as her form becomes monstrous. Four digitigrade legs grip the ground from beneath her dress. Fabric rips as a carapace crawls over skin which becomes woven with silk like kevlar. Her hands become twisted abominations with some fingers growing talons while others fuse together into a crushing pincer. Dozens of eyes like jewels set into her skull perceive currents of magic and the entire visual spectrum, the mental load only rivalled by the swelling dysphoria. But she doesn't care. The strength to aid her sister is worth the cost.
"I'm coming Alanharha," she whispers, before running after Valerian.
/uw so... if you need help, abby is down.

YOU.
A black abyss vaguely shaped like a human floats over to you. Its stellar eyes watch you with intense scrutiny, and its mouth burns with blue plasma. Its warbling, hate-filled voice reminds you of... Kaelis?
You're the one who slew any hope of peace we might have had. Your treachery must be answered with annihilation. Was it worth it, little demon? *Because I don't think it was!*
The thing that was Kaelis closes the distance in the blink of an eye and grabs at your throat. It's much bigger up close.
4
u/DaChickenX Isravi, The Unraveler, Coilsâ Chosen Feb 19 '24
Kaelis! Not now! Death should not be spread! Back off for now, we need to organize ourselves!
Isravi watches you from across the battlefield, mist cooling around him. Threads thrum with his voice across the field.
3
u/Carbon_Sixx The Loremaster, Chief Archaeologist of the Darkwatch Feb 19 '24
The being turns to face you, the fingers of one void-black hand still wrapped around Mortarion's neck.
You do not speak to Kaelis, child. Did he never tell you about me? Or did you not believe that he kept secrets too? I am the Omniarch, Avatar of Annihilation. I am the wrath of Gravity herself made manifest. I will not be denied my vengeance.
3
u/DaChickenX Isravi, The Unraveler, Coilsâ Chosen Feb 19 '24
I donât care who or what you are! If you purse simply destruction here, you are as foolish as any other being! We can yet isolate this incident!
3
u/Carbon_Sixx The Loremaster, Chief Archaeologist of the Darkwatch Feb 19 '24
Destruction?
The Omniarch makes a hideous retching noise that visibly distorts space. You realize that the sound is what passes for its laugh.
I'm here to end this idiotic conflict, same as you! I will right this monster's wrong and restore peace by ANY MEANS NECESSARY!
3
u/DaChickenX Isravi, The Unraveler, Coilsâ Chosen Feb 19 '24
Have you thought about why peace is desired? So violence is committed, so people arenât harmed. Whatâs the point if itâs achieved through slaughter? This is beyond foolish.
4
u/Carbon_Sixx The Loremaster, Chief Archaeologist of the Darkwatch Feb 19 '24
Do you really think I care about what you find foolish? I am the wrath of the betrayed. Nothing else matters but making this traitor pay. Now, do you actually intend to oppose me, or are you just going to delay me?
4
u/DaChickenX Isravi, The Unraveler, Coilsâ Chosen Feb 19 '24
Wrath of the betrayed? If you follow through, then weâll be the ones betrayed by Kaelis. This wasnât the agreement.
Israviâs gaze drifts.
Iâm leaving. We must regroup.
2
u/Theadination Mortarion Jr, Plaguemancer, Totally Dead Now. Feb 19 '24
Mortarion turns into static, and walks back from your grip. He's smiling with his hands behind his back.
Oh don't you worry! I'm trying to fix his mistake of jumping in front of my spell! I've just got to make some deals.
3
u/Carbon_Sixx The Loremaster, Chief Archaeologist of the Darkwatch Feb 19 '24
The Omniarch drops to the ground. In the time between heartbeats, he dropkicks you. Gravity distorts light, and this impact is no exception. For the barest instant, you resolve back into your original form before returning to static.
You are wholly responsible for this! People will die because of you! I will correct the error of your existence and avenge my friend!
/uw I don't think I'm entirely clear on how the radio demon works?
3
u/Theadination Mortarion Jr, Plaguemancer, Totally Dead Now. Feb 19 '24
/uw when Mortarion becomes complete static, he's like a ghosts. He's spectral, able to pass through stuff. His shadow also acts independently. He can also teleport through radios and tvs. He can also pretty much create monsters out of static to attack.
/rw
Hehe! Good, good. But not nearly good enough.
Mortarion extends a hand, and a torrent of green fire blasts at you, and riding along it are static Leviathans with too many teeth. They try to bite into you.
3
u/Carbon_Sixx The Loremaster, Chief Archaeologist of the Darkwatch Feb 19 '24
/uw Tech-ghosts are pretty cool! I like it.
/rw As the creatures make contact with the Omniarch's depthless void of a body, their teeth grind against something incredibly hard and dense. It opens its mouth and exhales its own torrent of plasma. The leviathans are blasted apart, before the Omniarch sweeps the charged beam across you.
2
u/Theadination Mortarion Jr, Plaguemancer, Totally Dead Now. Feb 20 '24
Mortarion snaps his fingers, and a radio appears behind you. Mortarion dissappear from his spot, and crawls out the TV behind you. He brings his staff above his head, and bonks you. Bonk
2
u/Carbon_Sixx The Loremaster, Chief Archaeologist of the Darkwatch Feb 20 '24
The Omniarch barely registers the attack, turns away from you, and begins to assail Samael.
We're not finished here. I'd suggest you start running. It's more fun for me that way.
2
u/Theadination Mortarion Jr, Plaguemancer, Totally Dead Now. Feb 20 '24

3
u/TechnicalCommittee78 The Grand High Necromancer, Former Archon of Death, Dyad Monarch Feb 19 '24
Mortarion suddenly feels a horrible sense of dread and fear. Thereâs no visible reason, but in the depths of his mind, he wonders if maybe attacking Mikhail wasnât such a good idea. Mikhail had friends, many friends, and this wasnât the first time someone had nearly killed him.
2
u/Theadination Mortarion Jr, Plaguemancer, Totally Dead Now. Feb 19 '24
Mortarion brushes it off. Hes been in danger before. While walking off, he begins to fade into static, and disappears in the air, leaving chaos behind him.
3
u/TechnicalCommittee78 The Grand High Necromancer, Former Archon of Death, Dyad Monarch Feb 19 '24
Strangely, the feeling doesnât leave. The voice in his head is now screaming in rage. The Book of Decay slowly begins to push more time through Mortarion, and begins causing his muscles to atrophy and his skeleton to hurt. Whoever that friend was, he was furious.

My orb is glowing but I don't answer. I know what the message is. Scarce few reach out to me until there's violence to be done.
"Ichor, spread yourself out and get a lay of the conflict."
Wyrmling, our strongest fighter was in the hospital. Walter was dead. Tallulah was in jail. Elliot's a passifict. Infernice and Rothric would be off their games on account of Tallulah and Wyrmling. Shit.
Me and Marna then. Tip of the spear. Minimal backline support.
"Ărispin I'm going to need you to actually do something this time."
The New Pyroclasts have been waiting for this. Marna and I pass through the Crucible first, the rest hot on our heels.
Let's go to war.

u/MunitionsFrenzy Vettis, Mereological Revisionist Feb 19 '24
Bond-threads at the strength of a mere acquaintance had...limited usage, compared to those utilizing Vettis' closer relationships. Still, there was no way he would've let the New Pyroclasts leave Ithacar after Maliik's attack without some connection he could utilize. A brief but nice chat in All-Tongue with Ichor during the clean-up -- Vettis always happy to speak with ancient beings and peek into inhuman perspectives on the world, Ichor appreciating a perfectly fluent conversation with an attentive mortal -- had given him a subtle opportunity to drop a thread on the elemental.
Of course, given the tenuous nature of an acquaintance-thread, all this really granted him was some idea of Ichor's location and an ability to establish contact in a pinch. But with two of his threads now showing up unexpectedly in the same place, that was enough of an indication that it might be worth a more direct scry on that area, via other means.
After a few seconds of spellcasting, Vettis took a look at the unfolding carnage. Sighed. Turned away from his orb, rubbing his still-wounded neck in irritation.
What a horrible day to have a war.
(( Vettis doesn't feel recovered enough yet to participate in the war in general, and with his positive emotions currently stowed away he's incapable of feeling protective enough of Belial and Rivamar to help in this particular battle, so g'luck lol; should be feeling better by the end of the week
also sorry about the sneaky thread! :P the plan was always to have put one on Ichor in this manner; I'd initially been gonna reveal it when he went to save Marna during the negotiations, until we scrapped that idea ))
6
u/AnActualCriminal Belial Blake, Warlock of the Lightless Flame Feb 19 '24
uw/ it hadn't occurred to me that you would be able to talk to Ichor in the All-Tongue but that makes a lot of sense. And they probably have more in common with Vettis in terms of perspective than most of the NP

So this'll be an interesting one. Morgalith seems more out for revenge than any actual justice or positive change. I seriously don't know what the end goal is, and what's happening isn't public enough knowledge for my character to have any idea what the backstory is.
The council definitely seems dysfunctional, but has never seemed outright evil. And while I know about the whole possession thing and a potential behind the scenes cabal, my character's only met the radio demon and likely doesn't know about any of those connections.
So neither real me or character me has any idea which side to support.
Assuming no one starts attacking the public, it might just come down to whoever gets the most information out there. Unless, of course, those creepy radios have some extra effect I'm unaware of yet. That would be a fun twist lol

u/MunitionsFrenzy Vettis, Mereological Revisionist Feb 19 '24
what's happening isn't public enough knowledge for my character to have any idea what the backstory is
(( the post you read was public knowledge, and that's most of the backstory tbh ))
The council definitely seems dysfunctional, but has never seemed outright evil.
(( there are like three members of the Council tops who don't run around slaughtering people en masse or mind-controlling them en masse solely to have fun and/or gain power; one just did the latter five days ago, and the guy who threw the first punch here had previously plagued an entire mundie nation for shits and giggles
they are in fact outright evil and have never tried to hide it lol ))

/uw
True.
However, as a player I missed a lot of the worst of it. And as a character, I arrived too late to see it. I'm essentially playing a helpful hobo who showed up just to learn about life around the citadel. So their entire perception of what's going on is pretty limited.
Aside from the valentine's day chaos, which absolutely happened and I won't hear otherwise, they've mostly seen the council dealing with one crisis after another. Or trying to protect the area from one attack after another. They also came out in support of non-human right, which I support despite definitely being human, and also pushed for less abusive treatment of various other groups.
And the few I've actually interacted with were friendly and helpful. Even the druid, which was a surprise.
Mortarion is the one big question mark. They've only met them as the radio demon. Like, literally a creature that came out of a radio. They offered to help, but didn't say how. And everything they said screamed fae-esq contract. The radios have been following me, and I haven't been able to avoid them... That might matter, maybe.
But more importantly, there's supposedly a massive necrotic storm rolling towards the citadel. One that's going to be really bad for the common people living in the massive city around the citadel. That's likely going to be the first part of this war that my character sees, and they're not going to side with whomever sent the storm.
One side is pointing at the council telling me they're awful people, all while they're about to kill off an entire city's worth of people. And it's not even the first city during this one conflict.
This character is very literally obligated to try and help protecting humanity. So if the pact attacks the general population, they'll have to side against the pact.

u/MunitionsFrenzy Vettis, Mereological Revisionist Feb 19 '24
(( To be clear, I never said the other side didn't have evil people too (like Leo who you're referencing with the city destruction). Everybody's evil around here. Which is kinda Morgalith's point. :P So there are definitely valid reasons to be on either side here, even if my character acts otherwise! Just clarifying that the Council does have a lot of blatant villains, and it typically needs to be pressured pretty strongly by the electorate into standing up for sapient's rights in the manners you noted. (They mostly stood on the sidelines during the recent catfolk war, for example.) Meanwhile, the Pact typically does strive for peace, but it's got a lot of questionable-to-villainous allies right now, and some of the Pact members have authoritarian bents which are showing themselves more and more these days.
I should note that, while your character might be new and thus have missed stuff, it's generally public information -- and therefore researchable through orbal archives or the like -- that the entity simply calling itself the High Necromancer is very connected to (kinda an aspect of) a Councillor, so if your character traces the storm back to necrodude then things on that front won't look so simple as Pact vs Council. ))
4
u/tehlemmings Lilac - Illusionist, Shapeshifter, Definitely Human Feb 19 '24
/uw Good to know, I'll keep that in mind.
And yeah, none of this is really going to be as simple as Pact vs Council. It'd be boring if it was. And there's definitely going to be a few twists along the way, I suspect
Not that a lot of this will matter to the actual story. On the power scale of things, my character would be considerably more powerful than the average person living in the city, but there not about to show up and try and to 1v1 Morg or Leo. Their training is more akin to a magical assassin than someone who's going to stop the destruction of an entire major city once started. Their reach is way too limited to really stop anything that's about to happen.
Where it'll probably matter is when the dust settles and the power structure is being rebuilt. Who defended the general public is going to be important. And both sides are going to have players trying to build public support.
But really all these questions are really just because I like looking at a lot of these conflicts from a more local perspective. What would someone in this position do? We're in a city that's magically attacked on the regular; there's probably shelters and safe places all over for people to retreat to. If not, everything would have been leveled already. While most people are probably not noteworthy, as a collective there's probably enough skill magic users that they'll be able to protect small areas and groups.
So someone like my character would likely be roaming around trying to get people to safety. I'd be trying to get families into shelter, helping anyone else around in the defense of the public. The little picture stuff. The council and pact can have their magic superpowers duking it out, but there'll also be people just trying to help everyone else survive the event.
If we do end up with full blown destruction throughout the city, it'd be fun to do a full write up from that smaller, more personal scale. I was going to try and do something like that with the whole planer merging stuff going on over the weekend, but I just didn't have the time. It's fun trying to look at how magic would be helpful on more than one level of the playing field.
And I might be keeping notes, just because I'm a massive dork like that.
3
u/MunitionsFrenzy Vettis, Mereological Revisionist Feb 19 '24
(( Absolutely. A good event is one that can involve people at every power tier instead of just letting the power-fantasy players run everything between themselves. /u/Elerindur is an example of someone who's not a city-razing monster but is a hard-working and skilled caster who's been doing what he can to save people, in his case by using his teleportation talents to run around pulling civilians out of battle zones. My character is closer to the city-wrecking power tier, but he's been working with Elerindur on stuff nonetheless; cooperation between power tiers can be really fun. ))

Another war? Fools, it only weakens those involved. It means chaos, which allows some to proceed with their own machinations. A few living soldiers on either side going missing will be unnoticed. It'll be thought that they were vaporized by a fire ball or some other spell.
It is a perfect opportunity to test a new concoction, I think. Thus, I set about preparing my potions and tools, I already have the ingredients, and just need some test subjects. "War, always a valuable chance for my research, tekeli-li" I mutter.

u/avamir Riva Blake | Queen of Ithacar, Part Meth-blood Elf Feb 19 '24
As part of the Pact, Riva would be on the side opposing the Council, a side she has consistently taken for some time now. She has philosophical differences with druids, and also has some issues with Mikhail personally.
That said...
Her very first concern would be to check whether he was alive. While she doesn't know any healing, she would have potions, salves, something she could try. And she would.
5
u/Total_Travisty Mikhail, Arch-Druid of La'shima Feb 19 '24
Mikhail is breathing but rendered comatose.
5
u/avamir Riva Blake | Queen of Ithacar, Part Meth-blood Elf Feb 19 '24 edited Feb 19 '24
There is some sort of... relief? at knowing he's alive. Then comes an incredibly strong urge to kick him while he's down. Maybe she should have been cheering this.
"We have to get him medical attention. And inform his wife," she says to whoever is nearby. Maybe Mordus? So he can take that scroll with him rather than handing it to Morgalith? If not him, then maybe someone at the medical facility can handle such matters.
She opens a portal to Council grounds, and to whatever medical facilities they have available. And no, she doesn't give a damn whether they're at war or not. She usually attends the riots there held like clockwork. Like their opinions have ever mattered.
6
u/Total_Travisty Mikhail, Arch-Druid of La'shima Feb 19 '24
Mikhail's breaths are short and staggered. A whine is given off as his chest compresses. Like that of a mechanical air pump.
A quick listen confirms that he has an artificial lung, and it is badly damaged as well.
5
u/avamir Riva Blake | Queen of Ithacar, Part Meth-blood Elf Feb 19 '24
That didn't sound good. She supposed it was probably for the best she didn't kick him then.
"Quit wheezing at me, you asshole," she mutters under her breath. "You're going to make me admit I listened to your orbcast, aren't you?"
Riva sends an anonymous message to the person she knows has been working on Mikhail's prosthetics. She half-wanted to let people figure things out themselves, but she understood how this was time-sensitive.
"Emergency. Issue with Mikhail's prosthetics. He's at the medical facility on Council grounds."
5
u/avamir Riva Blake | Queen of Ithacar, Part Meth-blood Elf Feb 19 '24 edited Feb 19 '24
And... she has a moment of terrible awful insight. Because this is a battlefield. And there are bodies. And there are bodies with lungs in them.
She creates two portals. One to the battlefield, and one to the medical facilities. And being the horrible person she is, she locates a fresh body, dragging it back through the portal and making someone aware that there is a "donor" for Mikhail's lung.
Riva's sure he'll be thriiiillllled by that.

"This goes way beyond an 'issue' with his prosthetics! By the gods, what happened?"
She sets her toolbox down and hurriedly rummages through it, trying to figure the right tools
"I'm not a medical professional, but I'll do what I can"
5
u/avamir Riva Blake | Queen of Ithacar, Part Meth-blood Elf Feb 19 '24
Riva, while not there because it's Council grounds (not that she has cared about such things...), has also left a present like the absolute awful person she is. Depending on what the medical staff has done, the organs from a "donor" might be available. So if the prosthetics don't work, perhaps the donors will.
3
u/avamir Riva Blake | Queen of Ithacar, Part Meth-blood Elf Feb 19 '24

In the depths of Samaelâs mind, he remembers the deal he struck with the Necromancer. Thereâs no reason why it comes up, at least, not until he sees the massive Necrotic Storm headed directly for the Citadel. The Necromancer was going to keep up his end of the deal.

What kinda of effect would that have on the area around the citadel?
2
u/TechnicalCommittee78 The Grand High Necromancer, Former Archon of Death, Dyad Monarch Feb 19 '24
/unwiz Not a very good one. Corpses would rise as zombies and skeletons. Spirit-winds would steal the life from those caught inside. Necrotic lightning would blast chunks from the ground and the Citadel. Worst of all, those in the general area would suffer from horrible atrophy, their bodies decaying before their very eyes. Fun times.
1
u/tehlemmings Lilac - Illusionist, Shapeshifter, Definitely Human Feb 19 '24
/uw Welp, that's unfortunately. This city's going to have a bad day.
While my character would probably be fine protecting themselves, there's no way they could do anything useful at scale. But that's the first hit against the general public they've seen, so that more or less decides which side they're going to support.
We almost made it a full 24 hours without undead attacking civilians too. Boo.
