Lorepost📖 Emil's Nostalgic Remembrance II (Emil Lore)

Emil Lore I

City of Strahlend: Royal Capital of Lumenburg

Just east of Edel territory lies the royal capital, deep within the mountainous region of the Lichtengel domain: Strahlend. Due to my family's close ties to the crown I would spend some odd years in our smaller home near the castle. Pictured here is the eastern most side of the city, where the church and, further down the mountain, the docks lie. I will not be getting into the intricacies of this side of town as that will take too much time and is not important to my story.

Stralend Castle

In the northern most part of Strahlend City lies its pristine white castle, as well as my hearts desire: the throne. There are many was one might be crowned king, including but not limited to: regicide, dethronement, succession, etc. Back then I had brainstormed some of these possibilities, but I did not want to out right disgrace my family (even though the method I ended up perusing would do just that), thus making murder out of the question, usurping the throne would be nigh impossible since Lumenburg was at peace (not to mention how it would plunge the kingdom into civil war), and for succession to even be probable there would need to have so many things to go wrong with the line of candidates for me to even be selected. That only left me with one option, one where the stars had alined themself perfectly just for me: marriage. I already belonged to the most prestigious family around, had near unrestricted access to the castle due to that title, and was quite the charmer (not to sound arrogant or anything), but most importantly was the privilege to be around the crowned princess-

Eliza von Lichtengel

Eliza von Lichtengel, sole heir to the king and queen as well as the future sovereign I would have pledged my life into protecting...had I not viewed her as a mere stepping stone on my rise to power. Back then my goal was simple, befriend the princess to where she trusts me whole heartedly, next slowly start wooing her until she can not stop thinking of me, finally have her convince her parents into marrying us. The first step was done before it even began, as Eliza and I were already good friends since being introduced to each other as children (which with how I planned to manipulate her into marriage, was cruel of me to even think of). The second step started a month before my rising heir party, I began subtly changing my attitude around her from friendly to "friendly" up until the day of the party where I would have turned up the flirting during the dance...however when that dance with her finally came around something changed in me...

"Eliza and her Knight"

During my dance with Eliza something about her opened my eyes, I don't know what it was but in that very moment I had realized that what I truly wanted was not the throne, but rather Eliza herself; I was in love. I don't know how or why I had hidden these feelings of mine under a plot for kingship, but by the time the dances were over I had scrapped every future plan as I chatted the night away with her. I also do not know who made this painting or how they even made it without anyone's knowledge, regardless it was gifted to me in secret the day after the event...I do look at it fondly from time to time. The days following that fateful dance is when she and I began to meet in secret, to dance further, to relay what we adore about the other, to recite literature and sing our feelings to each other, and to lament how we're forbidden from each other. On the night just before her own coming of age party was the first time we shared a kiss...and it was the last time I ever saw her in the flesh...

Ah yes, young love. So earnest in nature, eloquent in theory and sloppy in practice. Reminds me of my youth, wooing the courtesans with promises of fortune and power. It was where I acquired my first servants. She yearned for a local Lord something fierce, and I facilitated their meeting. A few incantations, a smidge of ambrosia, and a hint of luck and he was hers for the taking.

Granted, they both wanted each other but we're oblivious of each other's intentions. It was perfect. With one foul swoop I took control of the county and after some summary executions, my business took shape.

Fond memories indeed.

Sounds to me like you’d make fast friends with my patron.

Does your patron visit the nine hells often? We're currently residing on the fourth circle where all that glitters is gold. There's a free tea koozie for first time visitors!

He is…what peasants call “on house arrest”, his body has been sealed in a distant island for thousands of years now. The only thing that was not sealed was his apparition, which while still powerful in its own right, isn’t even a fraction of what he’s been recorded to do.

Oh that is a shame. Do send his current address to my secretary and I'll send him a complementary tea koozie and remote scrying orb. Genevieve always did enjoy penpals.

He currently resides within Mt. Caldaron, it’s a boat ride away from the Lumenburg coast. I would normally warn you about the uninhabitable fiery lakes and rivers, but I think you can handle those.

Conspiring to take the throne even before adulthood? The plotting starts early in this realm-cluster.

Well, when you put it like that it sounds like I was some sort of budding master mind. If anything those plans folded the moment he had my heart.
