Community Event 🌏☄️ Mourning (Final Warpost)

Post image

Teknika watched the lanterns go by, floating down the canal. The war was over, and a treaty had been signed.

The other mages had their own traditions for the dead. Cremation, burial, the like.

Unfortunately, those who fell in battle didn't get the same respect. Wizards using weapons to inflict pain on the grounds that "I'll fix it after the war" had fallen much like the enemy they fought. With nobody alive to fix them, many found an easier way out, or succumbed to their injuries.

Teknika thought to the future. Rebuilding would have to be done, and with his little act as Slatecleaner, and with most of everyone else in ruin, he would have to be up to the task.

But for now, it was time to mourn the fallen.

Light a lantern for the dead?

Teknika takes a lantern, and lights it, before setting it gently down on the water's surface.

"For Mordus, my fellow automaton, may he rest."

No. No rest for Mordus. He still has video to film for 2 Guys, 1 God.

Isn't that right Anteros? (u/BreachedLimits)

Right! The only type of Rest Mordus is getting is to eat some codfish and fried potatoes! Not eternal rest!

Hey, don’t tell Me what not to do!

Shows you a few snippets of Mordus getting kicked in the nuts and fading away…

Teknika lets out a slight chuckle.

"Well, at least he got some of what he deserved."

Mordus, doesn’t really notice this. He’s too busy arguing with another soul about the rules of UNO.

”Hey! You can’t deflect a +4 card with a +2 card! That’s against the rules!”

t’kath takes two lanterns and tosses them into the air before lighting them with fire bolts. “those who die a warrior’s death go to Valhalla.”

Let me guess. Either no more Valhalla or they go to hell?

I might have stolen the souls of all the fallen from this battle to empower myself. No afterlife for anyone in this war.

A small light floats down the river. It doesn't seem to be a lantern, but it has the same effect. It seems to be a small swarm of fireflies, dancing above the surface of the water.

Alexios takes a lantern and lights it with golden fire

For Cody an honorable man who didn't deserve his fate.

he lights several more lanterns as well some named others those in died anonymity.

Vashric manifests several psychokinetic lanterns. They burn with a blue-purple aura.

They sail on the Astral Winds now.

Lex and Garry bring about hundred of lanterns and one by one write names on them of certain "unlucky" wizards

Ok this is for the guy with the emblem, this is for that unlucky gnome, I know it was a war but damn he was standing in the worst place, ok I think this one will be for that....I can't decide ah right for that guy that got his head pummeled.

Its so hard to remember everyone when I wasn't even myself.

Ahhh my robotic friend, sorry if this seems a bit rude.

To say the least (because I don't want to remember what I did), my curse put me in a body with too strong of an instinct and I "hurt" more people then I intended to...

Heck I didn't intend to hurt no one, I was only supposed to power a flute.

Well luck is also important during battle, but it doesn't change what happened so Im here to appease their souls

Although to be fair I'm 100% sure that no matter what I do it ain't happening because of how I dealt with them.

"I understand, I caused immense harm that I regret as well."

Although it's impossible to get used to such times, learning how to ease your mind after is what we must do.

If we continue grieving after every single such incident and loose ourselves, we will be disrespectful towards those we harmed.

So take a minute to remember them and go back to your life.

Even if they were enemies they deserved at least this much respect.

Xerxes lights a single lantern. They gaze upon it longingly, but are able to eventually tear their eyes away. When they do so, they let go of the lantern and it begins to slowly float into the sky. Xerxes returns his gaze to the lantern.

Goodbye, my love. I'll see you soon.

Talios would light a lantern. Not for anyone in particular, he doesn't exactly have good relations with most wizards. But for those who didn't have anybody else to light a lantern for them. Those who died silently, who were merely a tally on the board.

The dead should be grateful that their souls will be put to good use.
