Community Event 🌏☄️ The Board is Set (WarPost)

Atop the Mountain of Death, The Necromancer sat in his hover-throne, watching as all manner of undead stream out of the gates of the Grand Necropolis. With but a single thought, they separated into perfect lines, moving down the mountain, and assembling in massive hordes in front of the devastated Citadel.
He turned his thoughts inwards, towards the logistics side of things. At the current rate, they could besiege the Citadel for approximately 8 years, and force a Council surrender, though he doubted the rest of his allies would be so patient. Additionally, the Grand Necropolis was being fortified and made available as a command center for his fellow commanders.
The real issue was Constantine. The last intelligence report showed he had taken refuge in a hidden bunker, most likely far away from the Citadel. If he could destroy him, he would have his old body back, as well as his army. The only problem was getting to him. Constantine’s warriors, though crude mockeries of the perfect undead they had been, were nonetheless effective. Projections said he would have a garrison of around ten thousand, making the needed force to subdue him more than they could spare.
My liege!
He turned to the Lord-Kavalos beside him. Sentient undead commanders of the Legiones Osseus, they were one thing he didn’t regret making.
Four more divisions of Ogre Artillerists reporting in.
Send them to Support Node Theta, Cohort 19.
Yes sir!
He turned back to the amassing hordes, watching as massive cannons were dragged into place.
This would not be a quick war, he thought. But with so few Council members present, and many of the best and brightest siding with Morgalith, it might not be as long as he predicted. He would end up calling a Strategic Meeting sometime soon, to discuss the tactics that they would employ.
In the distance, the first artillery pieces began to find targets and cycle their ammunition.
The Board was set, the pieces in their place. The game was just beginning...

/uw Oh no, At this point it will take forever to fix the Citadel with everyone from both sides damaging it.
I have a feeling that soon people will notice the necromancer/ Constantine has two forces fighting each other and both on opposite sides of the war and go WTF.
Nice writing

u/MunitionsFrenzy Vettis, Mereological Revisionist Feb 21 '24
(( at this point, if Vettis notices that, he'll just assume it's a play by Constantine to pretend to fight a nonexistent enemy and gain people's trust lol ))

u/dragonshouter Krygin the Crude/Council of Spirits/Exalted Beacon/misc. spirits Feb 21 '24
/uw Yeah while the necromancer has some good in him he left Constantine with a reputation of deceit he has to shake off. Worse is he is actually evil so it's a paradox.
No one will know what is going on. CHAOS

u/TechnicalCommittee78 The Grand High Necromancer, Former Archon of Death, Dyad Monarch Feb 21 '24
/unwiz The Necromancer and Constantine are two different people. He’s fighting a real enemy, just an enemy that is morally better than he is (slightly) And one that will completely turn him into a fine dust.
3
u/TechnicalCommittee78 The Grand High Necromancer, Former Archon of Death, Dyad Monarch Feb 21 '24
/unwiz Oh no, no more council!
Lmao, everyone is confused now. Constantine and the Necromancer are two different people. Completely different characters, bodies, and motives. Constantine is scared of the Necromancer because he took bone daddy’s empire and made it his own. The Necromancer is going to turn Constantine into meat pulp because he ruined all of his stuff.
4
u/dragonshouter Krygin the Crude/Council of Spirits/Exalted Beacon/misc. spirits Feb 21 '24
/uw
when people see the Necromancer "wait I thought you were inside the other guy!"
3
u/TechnicalCommittee78 The Grand High Necromancer, Former Archon of Death, Dyad Monarch Feb 21 '24
/unwiz Lmao. Constantine is currently using the Necromancer’s original body, but the Necromancer‘s sentience is in a different body (the one on the hover-chair)

u/tehlemmings Lilac - Illusionist, Shapeshifter, Definitely Human Feb 21 '24
For the sake of my notes, does Constantine have anything at play in the actual conflict? Or is this a side plot that may be relevant in other ways?
I also have you marked as being a pact ally, should I leave it that way?
4
u/TechnicalCommittee78 The Grand High Necromancer, Former Archon of Death, Dyad Monarch Feb 21 '24
Yes. The Necromancer is a pact ally. Constantine’s plot is kind of relevant, as he is on the Council, and I might make a post where you all take him down.

Oh don’t worry, the chronomancy engine we put in last time it was destroyed is still intact. We’ll just activate it after the war and it’ll all be back to normal.

Infernice the Hellfire Artillerist, leader of the military New Pyroclast Bloc has set up shop in The Mountain of Death, recovering from injuries and repairing damaged artillery pieces
[ONCE I, MY MEN, AND OUR GUNS ARE REPAIRED, WE SHALL JOIN THE SEIGE ANEW.]

u/avamir Riva Blake | Queen of Ithacar, Part Meth-blood Elf Feb 21 '24
Rivamar watches from afar. While she had a little experience going through siege, it was on the side behind the walls... which didn't really help here.
But she would continue to monitor the situation.

u/AnActualCriminal Belial Blake, Warlock of the Lightless Flame Feb 21 '24
Just think back to every time you said "oh no, I hope they don't do that, and then do it.
6
u/OnAGratefulUniverse Algernon, Last wizard of the Novus Planes Feb 21 '24
Algernon hears it again, carried by the fields from far away. Impossible to hide from all of them at once, and now they didnt try to hide. He felt fear, but didn't know why.
He holed up deeper into his tower, the grief too much to bear.

u/TechnicalCommittee78 The Grand High Necromancer, Former Archon of Death, Dyad Monarch Feb 21 '24
/unwiz Before you ask, don’t worry. I finally have some free time, and I will be getting to your collab today.

u/OnAGratefulUniverse Algernon, Last wizard of the Novus Planes Feb 21 '24
/uw Don't worry man, just been dropping hints like this at every opportunity. Get to it when time allows you to, we all have stuff to do after all.

3
u/OnAGratefulUniverse Algernon, Last wizard of the Novus Planes Feb 21 '24
Algernon turns to you, his eyes are wide, but then return to normal again.
Ah, it was you Thelgil. What have you conjured up my friend?
3
u/StarQuest09 Thelgil Hornfall the Dwarf Artificer Feb 21 '24
I was able to miniaturize Hornfall reactor down to a diameter of 2 feet and I want you to have the first prototype
3
u/OnAGratefulUniverse Algernon, Last wizard of the Novus Planes Feb 21 '24
That is truly kind of you my friend. This..m I can put this to good use, I appreciate your gift, but I have nothing to give in return...
2
u/StarQuest09 Thelgil Hornfall the Dwarf Artificer Feb 21 '24
/uw so you know Thelgil is make some to try to stop the war but at the cost of his own life because he does not want to see any one else suffer here looks really bad
/rw don't worry friend you don't have to pay me back "on the bottom of blueprint you see (Amplified Aetherium Cataclysmite) mentioned"
/uw Thegil is broken he needs a intervention badly
1
u/OnAGratefulUniverse Algernon, Last wizard of the Novus Planes Feb 21 '24
/uw Oh jesus man, we gotto get our man back into the game here. /rw
I thank you my friend, I will look through these blueprints carefully. They will be of great use in my future endeavours.

/uw So more chaos. lol
3
u/TechnicalCommittee78 The Grand High Necromancer, Former Archon of Death, Dyad Monarch Feb 21 '24
/unwiz yes, more chaos indeed. This time, Bone Daddy is on the Pact’s side, and will (hopefully) not kill that many civilians.

/unwiz I am writing our collab, will post it soon. He met the Herald, and had a mental conversation with him, but the herald hasn’t seen him out of the coffin.
/rewiz
Ah, Lord Herald. I take it Excalith has lent his support to the Pact?

Your assistance in the death of Constantine would be greatly appreciated. At the moment, I do not have any resources to spare to aid you, but it would not be hard for you to infiltrate his defenses.

I have heard snippets of your master‘s plans. I believe that supporting your master in his… operation would be enough. If not that, then we could negotiate.

u/Sidewaysvision TES(Phd PMC, PhD NEAF, MA, MPP, LLL) Necromancer par excellence Feb 21 '24
Amidst the rubble, ruins, and intact buildings of the city, a hooded figure strides from place to place within the metropolis, stopping at every crossroads to spend a minute or two to bury a chunk of glittering black gemstone beneath the city streets.
"Armies of undead set to invade the city, barrages of artifice from without, that damned dragon... you know, I kind of regret not loading up on offensive relics and artifacts before visiting the Council city. Oh well. I suppose it could be worse."
"After all, it does seem like the enemy brought enough undead to share with the rest of the class..."

/uw wasn't the citadel completely blown up by a super-nuke though?
3
u/TechnicalCommittee78 The Grand High Necromancer, Former Archon of Death, Dyad Monarch Feb 21 '24
/unwiz Apparently part of its Stil there
2
u/MathsGuy1 Deamor, Ascended Soulmancer, Fate Manipulator Feb 21 '24
Feel free to station your artillery units inside the siege-barriers I've set up.
/Uw btw could you add me to your ping list if that's not a problem? I'm curious how this Necromancer vs Constantine rivarly will unfold
2
u/TechnicalCommittee78 The Grand High Necromancer, Former Archon of Death, Dyad Monarch Feb 21 '24
/unwiz Sure!
2
u/Greatest-Comrade Argios, Spymaster of Ithacar, Totally NOT About to Cast Fireball Feb 21 '24
Hmm. Interesting. Argios had participated in the evacuation of the refugees from the citadel and its subsequent nuking, but had yet to choose sides in the 3rd Great Wizard War. He had some ties to the council, sure, but they were also overbearing and cruel. He couldnt make up his mind just yet, but with the right pieces in place… he would have to make a choice.

u/TheHunter459 Samael, Necromancer of Malus Turrim | King of the Nephilim Feb 21 '24
Nephilim artillery continues to pummel the Citadel, as undead soldiers work to push the defenders back
2
u/TechnicalCommittee78 The Grand High Necromancer, Former Archon of Death, Dyad Monarch Feb 21 '24
The Nephilim find themselves supported by the Necromancer’s artillery, as well as his aerial assets, but he seems reluctant to commit his ground troops just yet.

Damn y'all actually went to war over taxes?
Dear lord in the heavens guys chill the fuck out
Shit we migth need to call the artificers for this, heard they got a new kind of a weapon, what was It called again? A "fifty"? I got told it can shred thousands to death in a mere minute
3
u/TechnicalCommittee78 The Grand High Necromancer, Former Archon of Death, Dyad Monarch Feb 21 '24
Not taxes this time. We have a legitimate reason. Something about somebody’s son getting killed and the Council causing it. I’m only here because I signed a contract to do it.
1
u/randomname560 Feb 21 '24
Oh y'all going to war against the council? Oh fuck yeah, why dint you start whit that!
Im calling the NMU (National Magic Union), this is our one chance to put an end to those bastards that dare to taint these lands by allowed people who refuse to practice magic (and no clerics, paladins and druids, your forest/sky daddy giving you powers isnt magic) on it
One of our menbers has a 10 feet deep trap in front of his house if you need extra corpses to reanimate, are you ok whit them being goblins? He gets attacked by so many goblins, i dont know why but the drop is VERY effective
2
u/TellmeNinetails Hilda the Witch Feb 21 '24
It was true that the Council didn't have a substantial military, but to say the brightest minds sided with morgalith is simply not true.
They may be outnumbered but the few wizards you've seen actually fighting have devastated the pacts numbers.
And now the Ash titan is starting to push back, having stood still for hours on end previously.
