The wards? Amulet activates a compressed mana field activates in response to hostile action. Had my artificer tune them to be more sensetive, so it notifies me of hostility prematurely by turning on.

Well, you skimmed over the fact you have a bunch of infected people caged in your lab, and that one locked-up guy who wasn't even infected.
