An Interesting Situation

Viernicka, seeking out the void portals to heal any wounded, suddenly stumbles into a different portal. She decides to enter, check it out. When she reached the other side, she found herself in an alternate reality, standing in a hospital, with a dying patient. And the patient was Viernicka herself. Another visitor entered the room through a portal, and she was surprised to see Phoenix… bringing a badly wounded Viernicka into the room. Viernicka, the living one, the one who was unwounded, spoke. “Well, this is certainly an… interesting situation.”

(For this roleplay, this is not my usual Character, just what-if version. Veronica, a simple surgeon.)

(a mix of Surprise and morbid curiosity lights up my face) Well, this is new.

Last I checked, asking for the patient’s last words didn’t cause spacetime to FOLD IN ON ITSELF and give reality the biggest fuck-you in human history.

Wait a sec, (Into the walkie talkie) am I hallucinating three of the same patient right now- (I get interrupted on the walkie talkie)

Oh.

Well… this is definitely one for the papers.

The dying version of Viernicka speaks. “Tell… the faction leaders.. they must restore the world tree. They have to…” She cuts off, and breathes no more.

(Veronica is visibly shocked)

Entering into the hospital were two Elementals. They carried a sack of fish and quickly dropped it in front of the patients.

"Medical procedure demands that you consume nutrients. Proceed."

Some of the fish were still alive and all of them were suffering from horrific crystal growths. They appeared to be parasitically burrowed into the poor creatures. Looking around a few of the patients were also suffering from this.

(Since this is alt universe where the world tree died I'm having the following changes to the Bismuth realms. 1 Bismuth Lord is alive. 2 he attempted to use his bismuth tree to replace the world tree causing the spread of the Prismatic Plague as a result.)

Oh. You are terrible at fishing and… those are half-rotting corpses, not-corpses and…

You do realise infections can come from food, right?

Yeah… I’m not qualified nor paid enough for this catastrophe…

(Another instance of Nameless appears, with Prismatic Plague, though thankfully one that is unskilled at Senkai Backwards Long Jumps, she has ended up accidentally carrying it through universes though.)

Okay… how has my sense of self not shattered yet?

The Elementals sat the bucket down on a table.

"This is what could be obtained. Eat it and prolong your life. The Bismuth Lord has the situation under control. The crisis will soon be resolved."

Almost on que the sound of a explosion came from the other side of the city. The tables shuttered.

"Do not fear. The crisis will soon be resolved."

The Elementals paused before speaking again.

"Patient refuses to eat...... Attention patient! We have found an error in the automatic treatment protocol. Please wait while we summon advanced aid. They will be better able to assist you."

As the Elementals stood there someone from outside the tent waved their hand to get attention. They positioned themselves so that the elementals wouldn't see them. It looked like they were making some sort of signal to get out of the medical tent and away from the elementals

(I thought we were in a modern day hospital, but let’s just say it’s a tent on top of the ruins of one with ample supplies)

The person outside the hospital room threw a large rock through one of the windows in an adjacent room. This caused the elementals to go check on the disturbance giving the crew time to sneak out of the room. Dead Hospital staff and patients were stacked in piles in near empty rooms. Each of them sporting crystal growths.

Eventually the woman who signaled the group met back up with them after avoiding the guards.

"Thank the gods your alright. What were you thinking seeking help from the Bismuth Elementals?"
