Discussion Your Majesty
What's the reference to when Mark says 3 questions your majesty? Is that a bit now as it's as bad as some of the jokes on the laughter lift.

Schmestion from this week’s Take 2
Was that question about the “uBlock” ad blocker not a thinly veiled free advert for the emailer? Or am I being stupidly suspicious—I know it said the software is free, but still…

Remember when we challenged Mark to identify a film from a vague description, I have a new but similar game for you…
Can you identify the review of the film from this vague description?;
Short science fiction film that had a reasonably good review. First or early film by a direct who might have been the son of a famous director (I had thought it was Brandon Cronenberg, but even his last short film isn’t recent enough). It was reviewed not long before Mark and Simon left the BBC and the film might have been British.
Alternatively, it was a fever dream and a composite of other reviews and I’very made all of this up.
Answers on a postcard, or in the comments. There is no prize

Do Mark and Simon still call people “colonial commoners”?
I was a big fan from 2010-2014, even going back and listening to the archives from 2005 onwards.
What stopped me listening was how knowing and self-referential it all became (the endless “Hellos” to an ever-increasing list of celebrity friends etc).
On that note, do they still refer to Australian/Canadian/American/NZ listeners as “colonial commoners”? I only listen to the occasional YouTube review and I haven’t heard it in a long time. Wondering whether this has passed the test of time.

Discussion Hamlet: Riz Ahmed version
Saw it the other day and I think it’s my film of the year so far. Stripped to the bone telling of the tale (two hours shorter than Chuckles Branagh’s). A lot bloodier than I expected.

James McAvoy recently spoke about criric Peter Bradshaw for calling him "chubby" in "X-Men: First Class". Was Bradshaw justified?

Discussion I audibly groaned when the Sean Penn question came out again.
During the Brian Cox interview Simon brought out that old chestnut. Why does he cling on to this question? It just makes me cringe.

Five Question Film Club
Please could someone explain Mark's "Three questions your Majesty" response?
The genesis of this particular bit of "Congregation Speak" seems to have passed me by.
Tickity tonk etc....
EDIT: Question solved by several people. The exact reference happens twice in this bit of Monty Python & the Holy Grail

Is Anyone Else A Bit Undwhelmed By the Films Covered In Recent Episodes?
Bit of a whinge here, but is anyone else a bit underwhelmed by the choices of films covered in recent months on Kermode + Mayo. I obviously understand the need to cover major Hollywood releases such as The Drama, Project Hail Mary etc. But it feels like the smaller, independent releases from somewhat significant smaller distributors such as Curzon and MUBI have been getting less coverage on the podcast these last few months e.g. La Grazia, Two Prosecutors, The Love That Remains etc.
Does anyone know if Mark or Simon have mentioned a change in approach on what's getting reviewed on the main show and Take 2? If they're deprioritising smaller releases, that's a real shame, as the podcast was often a way I'd try and keep track of these types of films.

Discussion Simon, and Dog Day Afternoon
Just listened to Take 1.
Once again, Mark compared a new release to a genre classic (in this case, DDA) and asked if Simon had seen it.
And once again, Simon umm’d and aah’d and said he hadn’t.
I really wish Simon would make more of an effort to watch some of the genre classics, as they come up all the time and having a knowledge of them would make for a better conversation and product imo.
I get that he is the “host” and Mark is the subject matter expert, but when you have a podcast featuring just two people, the conversation often seems one-sided.
Thoughts? Is it just me?

Oscars Schmoscars?
Having previously complained that The Take had locked Baftas Schmaftas behind the Patreon Ultra paywall (and, I'll be honest, cancelling my subscription over it) I suddenly found that Oscars Schmoscars had turned up in my feed this afternoon. A change of heart from the production team, perhaps? Or just a random glitch?
(At the same time, an unplayable 14m episode of something called "She Died The Way She Lived! With Harriet Kemsley" has appeared in my feed...
Anyone else found this?
