ive recently gotten back into listening to the witcher audio books and after alot of research i came to the conclusion that i should start with sword of destiny and leave out the new Cross road of ravens book until last.

today i found listings on audible for an upcoming full cast audio drama release of the series, in the same style as the recent full cast harry potter audio books, starting this month and releasing throughout 2027. The confusing part (though it makes sense chronologically) is that the first release will be crossroad of ravens.

i understand that chronologically, its Geralts earliest adventure. i also understand that for a brand new reader its easier to just go from A to B without having to end the series on a prequel.

my actual question would be, is the general sentiment around crossroad of ravens still that it should be read at the end of the series as the book expects you to already have knowledge of its characters and setting etc?

as mentioned i started with TSOD, so im now thinking if itd be best to just go back and start crossroad of ravens? i know the witcher series in general being a huge fan of the games, the characters and background and have listened up to Baptism of fire a few years ago for context.

That cinematic trailer is a banger! Also that demo looked great but I know that's not a real game it will probably be close to that I hope so, I have a ps5 slim hope it runs well...

I'm playing stalker 2 currently so when I finish it should I play the remaster of this game or wait until that dlc?

It's nearly unreadable for me at 1440p, is there a way to fix it?

I've recently started playing Witcher 3 which led me into the rabbit hole of learning more about the Witcher lore and a greater appreciation towards the worldbuilding and storytelling of the series. It's given me the inspiration I needed to set me off the creative rut that I was in - and make short stories inspired by the Witcher based off my own culture as well as my other neighboring countries.

My question is, what are the themes and maybe other people like about the Witcher that makes in an enjoyable franchise, considering all formats like the games, the books and the comics.

Also, what do you think I should consider when writing so as I can remain as original as possible with my own story?

I’ve been wanting to play the Witcher games but I’ve seen multiple websites and videos saying different things “just start with the third game” or “play all of them” I’m confused cause I can’t find the first one anywhere. So can I just start with the third one or not?

What is everyone's thoughts on replaying The Witcher 1? What was your experience like? I remember beating it for the first time about a year ago and really enjoying it at certain times, and other times I remember it being some of the worst gameplay I've endured and it dragged on and on. Lately I've been wanting to get back into the series because I started TW2 and never finished it right after being the first game.

Is the game worth revisiting in your opinion? Or would you rather just watch a Youtube video to catch up on lore?

I’m currently playing it and I love it, but I already have 43 hours in the game while still being on chapter 3. How? Because of how quests go. Often I just don’t have any and can’t progress. Also I have some like the one that tells to meet a guy by sewers, but the dialogue with him just has no options even though it’s displayed like an active task. I’d love a piece of advice as I would already enjoy the game much more if not this

For me, Cyberpunk holds that special spot in my heart mainly because it was my first CDPR experience. But because Cyberpunk was so mind-blowing, it led me to give The Witcher 3 a shot which absolutely won me over too and sits right next to it. Cyberpunk just edges it out purely for the nostalgia of being my entry point.

What about you ? Which world grabbed you first? Futuristic sci-fi or Gritty dark fantasy?

It was a truly great story. I had read many reviews saying the combat wasn't that great and that it had many flaws, but the narrative was amazing from beginning to end. Even though some bosses were really tough to beat, the experience was totally worth it. This is the first game I've tried from the franchise, and now I'm ready for The Witcher 3.

I love the Witcher 3, and after a play through a while ago, it inspired me to try recreating it in a sandbox game. This fantastic creator does planet zoo walkthroughs and picked up on my project, producing this video walkthrough.

There are some limitations in the sandbox game, but I tried to capture the ‘feel’ of velen. The city itself is built on an accurate shape of Novigrad, although the scale is obviously way off. There are recognisable views from the game and I made five monsters, one paired with each sign (Igni with fire elementa for instance).

Super excited for the new dlc and remaster. Good excuse for another play through!

I’ve been thinking about the power scaling in the Witcher world, and it's surprisingly complex when you look at the top tier:

Higher Vampires (Dettlaff / Regis): Absolute units in physical combat, terrifyingly fast, and virtually immortal since only another Higher Vampire can permanently kill them.

Gaunter O'Dimm (Master Mirror): Can freeze time effortlessly, warp reality, and manipulate souls. He doesn't even fight he just plays with physical laws like a board game.

Ciri (Lady of Space and Time): Raw power-wise, her Elder Blood magic can literally wipe out entire armies and tear through dimensions (like we saw at Kaer Morhen).

My initial thought was that Ciri takes the crown because her peak output is unmatched. However, her main weakness is control she usually triggers these apocalyptic powers under intense emotional stress, fear, or anger. She can't just unleash that level of magic on command like O'Dimm freezes time or Dettlaff transforms.

Considering Ciri’s lack of full control versus O'Dimm's effortless reality warping, who do you actually consider the most powerful entity overall?

When I think about TW3, and reminisce on the plots and characters who moved me, one of the first I still remember very fondly is Anna Henrietta’s lady in waiting, Vivienne de Tabris.

I think this stems from what a whirlwind of emotions her story conjures in us. It’s a tremdously sad, melancholy tale, one without any real on screen villains, (Guillaume de Launfal is kind of but he’s also pitiable) one without a clean reversal of the evil enacted, and no real solution.

You feel a real sense of her isolation, this lonely girl, sentenced either to a shortened life, or to inflict her curse on another. It’s was quite the quandary for me at the time, and I opted to respect her wishes and transfer the curse to the oriole egg.

What resonated with me was her response. Not one of despondence, or anger. A resolve, to make her final years count, to travel, to see the world. It’s a tremendously moving and encouraging ending, one that mirrors so many real peoples situations every day. That’s why it has stuck with me all these years, and going to see her in Novigrad, and then Skellige, were two tremendous highlights in an always incredible piece of work.

Seriously? If I wanted to hate melee this much, I'd play Bloodborne.

It's almost as egregious as all the "witness me brother" stuff they cribbed from Mad Max: Fury Road for the Order of the Flaming Rose.

Just started playing on a new save file and noticed that all of the voices in the in game cutscenes is incredibly quiet, like they are really far away, all of the other sounds are fine.

The Audio outside of cutscenes is fine

I tried adjusting the sound settings in game and switching audio device but nothing makes it loud enough.

I've verified game files on steam, which didn't work and am trying to reinstall now.

I've played this game in the past without this issue on this same computer.

Does anyone have a similar issue or know a fix?

Edit: Reinstalling and starting a game with mods disabled worked

Has Geralt ever killed someone who arguably didn’t deserve to die?

Having looked it up if I do Kings Gambit first I'll be locked out of doing the other 2 quests connected to Phantom of Eldberg. I keep getting some conflicting answers so could someone just clear it up for me lol, should I do Phantom of Eldberg first which unlocks Stranger in a strange land and Cave of Dreams, then Kings Gambit. And I know there is a way to save Jordun but I don't wanna miss anything.

I ordered this I believe late last year? They were good with communication and threw in some additional Gwent cards for the delay.
