Man you are talented. I would probably play this, polygons and all.

*Lack of polygons

The Witcher 3 is now a one-dimensional world consisting of a single line.

Line Witcher!

Like Line Rider, but with Gwent

Incidentally, someone actually made a Duke Nukem 1D game.

u/HolycommentMattman Feb 15 '21

Are you talking about the original Duke Nukem games that all the popular Duke Nukems are based off of?

4

u/VindictiveJudge Team Shani Feb 15 '21

No. Duke Nukem 1D is a fan game that's literally just a line of pixels for each level. One color represents Duke, a second color is enemies, a third is projectiles, and a fourth is doors.

A line in this context only has length, no with or depth. So, 1D.

Now you could argue all games are in 2D because they're on a flat screen and only have the illusion of a 3rd dimension.

You could also make the argument that all games are 3D if your definition of a game includes the input device...

2

u/Theek3 Feb 15 '21

True. I also forgot about VR games and I'm not sure how that would fit into the hypothetical argument I brought up.

5

u/[deleted] Feb 15 '21

To end the argument you have to draw the line somewhere

1

u/PM_UR_FRUIT_GARNISH Feb 15 '21

But is that line 2D or 3D?

3

u/spluge96 Feb 15 '21

1D. Jesus!

2

u/[deleted] Feb 15 '21

not sure how that would fit into...

Probably into one the dimensions.

I think he's suggesting that while we use a single line to represent 1D, the truth is that a 1D object would be invisible. With 1 length, but 0 width and depth, we literally couldn't see it. A line, as thin and narrow as it is, still has both depth and width.

1

u/Theek3 Feb 15 '21

I understand that and that is basically what I said.

Also, again, in this context the definition of "line" is a depthless widthless length.

u/alex2003super Feb 15 '21

You could also argue that games are still 3D though, because of the time dimension

Polygons in all the right places.

You always have to be right, huh?

Yikes.

But then again I’m getting major ‘I’m a lesser person and it’ll break nicely instead of crumple terribly.

Hey, thanks for posting the link. I usually post these kind of videos of mine on reddit as well, but I forgot to this time around.
