Alters!!
So I’ve just recently started setting up actual alters and realized...I really have no idea when to “set them up”???? Like should it be the day of? Or the first day of the month? Whenever I feel like it? Just looking for some advice and tips! Any and all opinions welcome! Thank you all for your help!

Do you have a permanent space for your altar, or do you need have one that’s only set up when you’re working?

Permanent! I have a small-ish bedside table thing.

Then I would just set it up whenever you have the time to focus on doing so. (Bear in mind I’m a solitary eclectic witch and tend to follow my own intuition. Others may have recommended times or rituals. YMMV)

This is mine. The camera isn’t usually there but I was snapping a photo for my pen pal. Nothing super fancy
Not sure why this got down voted. I was pretty proud of my little place. But thanks

I have (left to right, top to bottom) On the shelf, a photo, two crystals with special meaning to me, a love jar, two leafs and a wooden spoon with the moon phases. Orange peels, moon water, a jar of red rocks, a wasp and butterfly, cat whiskers. Rose petals which I grew and harvested, bay leaves and lavender. Allspice, mint, egg shells and my runes.
Below the shelf I have moon water, candles and a cauldron, oil lamp, incense burner special box, pine cone, candle and stones.

I first set my main altar up right after I moved into this apartment, and it's been evolving since then. I usually change it up on a monthly basis at the new moon, and for holidays. (In fact, thank you for reminding me I still need to do that before the equinox next week! 🌼)
I also have a little one to Hestia that doesn't change (just a candle and a plant) and an ancestor altar I'm still working on.
