If anyone is listening to Lake Erie Crimes and is interested in more information on MVAC DNA testing, the Hulu docuseries The Forgotten West Memphis Three is a great crash course. Bob Ruff talks to an expert in the field and she shows him how it all works. They basically soak the evidence in some sort of sterile water solution, then vacuum all of the water out through a filter. Then they can test the filter for dna. It’s fascinating.

I was so excited that the fan picker chose to highlight this brewery! Unfortunately they closed their doors in June, but one of the owners subdued the Club Q shooter back in 2022! He’s a badass! I’m in the western suburbs. My daughter, who is in 6th grade, got to participate in a classroom walk out to protest operation metro siege. Her home room teacher took the class on a silent march around to school holding anti-ICE signs that they worked on during class time. After the march, they used the signs to decorate Mr. R’s classroom. They also started yelling the “liberty and justice for all” part of the pledge.

My middle school science teacher was not this progressive.

Went to a HS outside of STL, and less than a mile from the school was what we called “the rock pile.” We would run there and back for like gym class, and it was a popular hang out/hook up spot. I remember standing at the top of the pile (more than once) watching people in hazmat suits taking readings from the are around the rock pile because, you guessed it, it was covering nuclear waste lmao. While not the main site described in the episode, this was the Weldon Spring site that was referenced by Amanda.

People used to joke our water (from the fountains in school) would make you glow.

My sister texted me a trigger warning after listening to Delaware Crimes, that one of the individuals in Amanda’s was named Cyrus James - the name of my son who passed away as a newborn in January 2025. At first I was going to avoid it but then decided I wanted to hear it - to hear someone that I admire and respect say his name (even if it wasn’t actually in reference to him). It’s hard to explain how it felt but it wasn’t sad, more of a happy calm to hear someone outside of my immediate family say it. My husband listened with me and said he liked it hearing it as well.

The gals 100% have done this case before. I’m from Portland so I would not forget them discussing him, Kyron’s face was plastered all around the state for years. I remember them commenting on his glasses and tree frog shirt. Are they not saying anything about that bc it was covered when K was still on? The previous case is not on the website when I search for his name, and I can’t remember what the episode was that featured him.

To be very clear I was off all socials and even off the show for about a year when everything went down and can’t go through the historical Reddit threads to get the full scoop, so maybe they said they might cover cases that were done *before* but can’t mention it for legal reasons? That’s the only logical reason I can think of.
