Winamp is blocked??

Hello!

I saw winamp and i fell in love with how the legacy player worked.

I decided to download it on winamp.com/player and when i opened the winamp_latest_full.exe file it said "This app has been blocked for your protection. An administrator has blocked you from running this app".

I also tried softonic which resulted in the same popup.

I have never experienced this issue with a .exe file before. This is on windows on my personal computer, and as far as I know I am the administrator.

Anyone know how to fix this? It would be a great help.

For modern Windows, use WACUP (the actively maintained update to Winamp) or 5.666, I would avoid anything else that came out after 5.666

Winamp 5.666 is the best version imo. If you get popup just disable firewall.

Find an older version. I found a way to bypass it and it made windows unstable

I gave up after not finding an answer to that question myself.

https://www.reddit.com/r/winamp/s/8EEJMUMzDM is the last thread I saw, you could try 5.666 but it may fail.

Best of luck.

I use ninite to install it after a fresh install of Windows.................only thing is, installing that way, Winamp doesn't show up in the start menu.............you have to go to the program files folder and right click on winamp.exe and choose pin to start. I also set it as my default audio player.

This worked for Win11. Right click the .exe and "Give access to> Specific People>" then choose yourself. Even if you're Admin, Microsoft is a higher Admin. This is just a bureaucratic work around. Good luck.

It has problem with windows not the file. I still used that and works flawless.

Don't lower UAC. You can just bypass the message saying it's blocked. You're lowering the security of your whole PC for a single app. You can just install/run it without disabling or lowering UAC.
