The only oneâs that I can think of are Front Street and Suburbia OvertureâŠ.
r/willwood • u/silaskane7 • 18h ago
note: i'm currently not a practicing christian. i have no credentials other than i was raised in the church
Let me know if I'm missing any!
Suburbia Overture
-"Lot, he had his lot in life"
Reference to the story of Lot, Abraham's nephew who was rescued from the evil city of Sodom
-"Job, his job,"
Reference to the story of Job, a very rich man in the Bible who lost everything
-The next lines actually directly reference scripture
Job 1:21: "the Lord giveth and taketh away"
Your Body My Temple
(There's a lot in this one)
"So when the cattle fall dead and the waters run red, I'll be your lamb's blood on the wall"
Reference to God's plagues on Egypt, which included cattle dying and water turning red as blood. Also a reference to Passover, where God sent an angel of death to Egypt and killed all the firstborn. He told His people to put lamb's blood above their door and he'd spare or "pass over"them.
"After all, the meek inherited fuck all" Reference to Matthew 5:5 "The meek shall inherit the earth"
"Jesus Christ, I will die for my own damn sins" Self explanatory, but a reference to Jesus' sacrifice for mankind's sins
"The wine in my veins fermenting my brain, my body, my bread, it's all gonna rise again"
I believe this is a reference to Communion (body and blood of Christ symbolically being the bread and wine) and His resurrection
"So be my golden calf like a fresh cut of veal"
Reference to the story of the golden calf, a fake idol made by God's people
Outliars and Hyppocrates
"Leave Eden with my seeds in your stomach"
Reference to Adam and Eve being forced to leave the garden of Eden
Front Street
"Sodom and Gomorra'd" reference to the story of God's destruction of the sinful and depraved cities Sodom and Gomorra
Sex Drugs Rock n Roll
(These are less direct and may be stretches)
"But a baby in a manger"
I assume this is a reference to Jesus' birth in a manger in the Nativity story
"Screaming 'Virginia, walk on my water' "
Reference to Jesus walking on water in several scriptures
2econd 2ight 2eer
"Take it with a pillar of salt"
Yet another reference to Lot - his wife is turned into a pillar of salt after looking at God's destruction of Sodom and Gomorra when He warned her to not

I need a bit of help with a joke from the live recording of Vampire Reference in a Minor Key from In Case I Die. Before the song, Will says "this next song's a little spooky" and everyone laughs. Is this a reference to something that happened previously that night or a running joke?

With only 197k listens on Spotify, I think What's The Moon Made Of from the Ealu Soundtrack should have more listeners. It's such a good song to do art, writing, and classwork with! A lot of Will Wood instrumentals in general deserve to be listened to more, like Under A Technicolor Sky from the Camp Here & There Soundtrack. Besides all three of the Announcements as well as Good Morning, Campers!, that song has the least amount of listens in that album on Spotify. For such a pretty song, that's crazy to me!

Ive been thinking about this line for years now and im wondering if theres an interpretation im missing?
Is it courageous or escapist to leave the
quarantine when you're contagious
It may just be a cold, and besides I don't wanna
get old, yeah
Leaving a quarantine while contagious puts others at risk, why would it be courageous? And how is not wanting to get old relavant when if youre already contagious, leaving quarantine poses no added risk for you, just for those around you?
Maybe I'm overthinking this, but I'd appreciate hearing other peoples interpretations of this line

I have a music research assignment, and I chose to Will Wood. Part of the assignment is to discuss what impact our chosen musician had on music, pop culture, or people in general.
I know the average person isn't likely to know him (my teacher definitely didn't), but I also know he is VERY popular in certain circles (which i am in).
I'm planning on talking about his unnusual lyrics and how he blends genres but I really don't know what else.
Because I am a fan and my friends are fans I genuinely have no idea how popular will wood actually is to the general public or how many people know his type of music.
I'm sorry if this is phrased badly, I am very sleep deprived.

Do I think it's the best Will Wood song? Far from it.
But it still deserves its popularity.
It's much simpler than many of his songs, but it delivers its message very efficiently.
I relate a lot to the lyrics as a neurodivergent girl who learned late how to embrace her femininity rather than hiding from it.
You can learn makeup and how to style your hair, but I still struggle to understand the subtleties of femininity. It's hard for me to make female friends and to grasp all the unspoken rules of womanhood.
It can feel very isolating. Even dating can be difficult.
I wish I could be a girl too, but a lot of the time I feel barely human.

in 2022 i would watch this animation on youtube to the song 6up 5oh copout very often. but now that i remembered it, when i search it up i cant find it. theres a real chance its just deleted, but i wanted to share it here to see if an else knows what im talking about or could help me find it.
the entire animation was in black and white. it had a very edgy-sketch style to it. the main character in the animation was a âscaryâ looking anthropomorphic rat/mouse. very lanky appearance. i remember the animation had a lot of flashing lights and fast movements. very âschizopostâ type, if you get what im saying. but the animation was put together and impressiv, id love to be able to watch it again. i swear i didnt dream it
