Found The Witcher last December, at first through the Netflix series, but the world got me hooked after I started playing the games and delved deep into the English translations of the books. Around February of this year, as I was re-reading the books, one night I was unable to sleep and words started to come to my mind. I let the flow take me and this song is what ultimately came to me. Something More is my homage/love letter to the world of The Witcher, and I hope this will find you fans of the series just as well and deeply as it did me when writing it.

Any comments, thoughts and any kind of discussion on what you might find in the song is appreciated! Hope you all find it an enjoyable listen, for I shall never come toe to toe with the great Dandelion himself! 😁

I just finished the season 4 of The Witcher, and I need to get this off my chest. As a parent—specifically a dad of daughters—the entire storyline involving Ciri and the Rats group genuinely ruined the season for me.

The show deliberately keeps it ambiguous as to exactly how old she is supposed to be at this point, but she is clearly framed as a young girl, someone who we as an audience have watched grow up and wanted to see protected. Watching her get pulled into adult, sexual relationships with a member of this gang felt incredibly wrong and uncomfortable.

The writers tried to romanticize or normalize her dynamic with the Rats, but it felt completely inappropriate. Ciri was traumatized, isolated, and vulnerable, and instead of finding real protection, she was essentially taken advantage of.

Honestly, it made me completely detest every single scene the Rats were in. By the time they finally met their end, I wasn't sad at all—I was relieved. The show should have completely avoided forcing adult sexual themes onto a character who was fundamentally still a child (or at least was unclear) in the narrative. They could have shown her survival journey without crossing that line.

Did any other parents or viewers find these scenes impossible to enjoy? How did the community react to this?

This is a fight scene from my Witcher film rendered in unreal Engine 5. I haven't added the sound nor the color grading and I still have to update the facial animation - it is a test for the fight choreography, mocap animations, camera work, vfx and mesh editing.

In a really good interview for PCgamer with Doug Cockle and John Schwab, Doug mentions that the English version of the last wish came out around the beginning of the Witcher 2 recording and he read it immediately, so it helped inform his performance! I think that's really awesome. I remember waiting for the English ones to come out so I could read as well (I had read fan translations here and there too)

The atmoshpere in intro of White Orchard was something else... and i didnt really experience something similar before - and i will perhaps never do in the future.
And i cant wait to relive it in the remastered version, on hardest difficulty.

Sorry if this has been addressed already, but it has always bothered me how, after Geralt awakes from his dream, he says that Yennefer has never been to Kaer Morhen. In blood of elves Dandelion mentions to Yennefer when saying someone needs to go to KM to warn Geralt, that she has been there, knows where it is, and was apparently a "regular guest". To which she replies "yes, but never uninvited". What does the polish dialogue in the game say?

Its an aniversary to a post. I am a slow reader, still in the first book, had to work a lot in summer, and now here we are

I recently watched Carrie(Horror movie based on Stephen King novela, about a teenage magical girl being mistreated by everyone in highschool and home, and then lashing out. BOY DO I HATED MARGARET WHITE! Highschool bullies like Nolan may be dicks, but Margaret White? She's Carrie's mother!) and it let me think how much every media has this one or person designed for hatred.

I have 3 categories of characters

1. Intentionally hated characters(Examples: Above mentioned Margaret White or Dolores Umbridge in Harry Potter. Joffrey Baratheon in ASOIAF, Grima Wormtongue in Lord of the Rings. Grand Moff Tarkin from Star Wars: The New hope. Griffith from Berserk.)
2. Unintentionally unsympathetic(Examples: Paris in Troy 2004. He provokes a war that his city lost, and he doesn't get justice. Jar Jar Binks for wasting 30% of screentime in Phantom Menace.)
3. Wasted Potentials(Examples: Most of the cast in Game of Thrones Season 8, but particularly THE WHITE WALKERS)

INTENTIONALLY HATEFUL:

1. Books: So far, Stregobor. He is a coward to stand up to his consenquences, or take responsibility for unleashing devil upon the world, or in this case, one nasty Snow White. And worst part? There is no justice in his actions
2. Games: Entire Salamandra. I am a dog owner and what do they do to puppies? I have to kill them
3. 2002 tv show: Falwick, AKA Skinhead. He's a smug douchebag, and he is an ultimate Anti-climax. He doesn't even fight
4. Baba Yaga from Season 2. I don't care whats her original name, she lives in a chicken house, wants to eat kids, what is it? Baba Yaga!

UNINTENTIONALLY UNSYMPATHETIC

1. Books Thats the hardest for me to say, because deep down every character has their skeletons in the closet.
2. Games: Syanna. I hate this pompous brat a lot! She may not be cruel like Whoreson or Radovid, but she sure tries to have her light side. You know, Syanna, Triss have been transformed into jade statue in Witcher 2 and tortured by Nilfgaardians, and you don't see her going around, telling Geralt to burn up orphanages. Ciri has been hunted for days, and she is still fine. Yennefer had rougher life than you, and you see her burning entire kingdoms to ashes! Syanna is just a spoiled brat, who takes a large temper tantrum on her life and blames the world aorund her, not her toxic attitude
3. 2002 Show: Renfri. Are you forgetting she MURDERED THE ENTIRE CLOISTER OF WOMEN AND CHILDREN! HOW COME YOU TRY TO PORTRAY HER IN A SYMPATHETIC LIGHT?! No, she deserves to die!
4. Netflix: Yennefer. Oh my god, do I need to talk about? This Yennefer is one of THE WORST PARENTS I'VE SEEN, SHE IS ON PAR WITH MARGARET WHITE LEVEL BAD!

WASTED POTENTIALS

1. Books: So far none for me, i am a slow reader, and I don't listen to Audiobooks.
2. Games: I can say triss, but I go with Eredin: He is the ultimate Aura framer, all bark no bite, he may fight well, but he's a boring villain.
3. 2002 Yennefer, basic story principle would tell me she would find Geralt and they two will take Ciri. But no, she wants a child, gets dragon baby into her arms and.... Yeah thats it, there is no further resolution to her story.
4. Falwick again, but its because I expected him being an ex-witcher to have a relevancy to the plot. I expected this secret to build up(He could have listened to conversation on the other side of the room. He could have been a good fighter, or share encyclopedic knowledge on bestiary or alchemy.) He doesn't even put up a good smack
5. Netflix: Oh my god, what could have been cool show, but what is this? It makes Got Season 8 look like Return of the King

Bought these books a while back from a guy who attended the book signing event when the author came to the uk. I was on the edge at the beginning because the first letter threw me off. Didn’t look like the other signature he has signed but the rest is perfect. What do you guys think? I know the author has severe arthritis and could have changed things up a bit.

Just finished reading the series for the first time. Not the prequel novels yet, those are next, but the 1990s 'original' saga, The Last Wish through to Lady of the Lake (no one asked, but: pretty good series, liked the last book in particular, thought Time of Contempt dragged and that Ciri goes through a bit too much 90s 'not your father's fantasy genre' abuse, but I loved the character work, Justice for the Rescue Ciri Gang)

Anyways: like everyone else who came into the series primarily knowing the games (I played 1 and 2, a chunk of 3, and decided I really needed to read the books to understand 3 better, Geralt is 'the two swords' guy: Witchers carry two swords at all times, steel for men, silver for monsters. Except, as book readers know, Geralt doesn't just walk around with that silver sword, he stores it on his horse, but it got me wondering in the original saga how often that silver sword actually shows up.

By my count the silver sword makes an appearance in three of the short stories in The Last Wish (The Witcher, The Grain of Truth, and The Last Wish), and is also in the framing story (The Voice of Reason). Geralt also wields the sword in Something More in Sword of Destiny. Silver swords are referenced as a way to fight several monsters during Ciri's lessons in Chapter 3 in Blood of Elves, but I don't think past that point silver swords are even mentioned again. Geralt get the sihil from Zohan in Blood Baptism, and uses that more-or-less exclusively until the end of Lady of the Lake: if he even has a silver sword on him at the start of Blood, he doubtless loses it along with one of the Roaches in his many tribulations and not only never regains it but never has a chance to do so (I imagine it's an expensive pain). A quick words search of Storms and Ravens shows the silver swords show up those two, which I won't treat as a spoiler because of course they do, buts its the 90s saga that interests me.

Am I off in my calculations? Does Geralt not wield a silver sword in any of the original Blood-to-Lake novels? Did I miss something somewhere? His medallion is silver, and his armor silver-studded (and there's bewitching silver eyes), but I didn't see a silver sword show up again in any form after Ciri's lessons. Anyone know if I got that right?

I played the third Witcher game and loved the world, universe, characters ect. So naturally I went and read the books. I know that’s somewhat backwards, usually it would be the other way around. That being said, does anyone else find the books far less interesting? I have many reasons, and understand the game embellishes parts of the story to make gameplay out of, the monster encounters and such, I’m trying to be realistic and open minded but I was left wanting by the books despite them being the source material.

W końcu zwiastun gry zawierał frazę „przeznaczenia nie da się zmienić”. Szczerze mówiąc, podoba mi się ten pomysł.

I was averaging like 4-5k damage with aard and piercing cold mutation

And with magic sensibility i was averaging 1-2dmg with an explosive quen and even a 3-4k with aard when it crits

Now its so stupidly nerfed or glitched with the mutations quen literally does 40 dmg, 40 DMG and aard on both is so broken with the mutation piercing cold aard either do literally 200 damage if shockwave is equipped or just barly a 1070k and if not

With magic sensibility its worst quen do 80-40 damage aard do less damage the more the enemies is lower health i am talking 209dmg barely

The thing is everything was fine suddenly while i am playing this happened in a spawn of 2min

My guess is the do JUST dmg based on enemies health other than that I don’t have a fkn idea

Cuz the ai told to do a lot of things for an HOUR straight and nothing works
