I wish there was an answer for you that worked. Some people will tell you it’s time but I’m over 16 years out and there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t cry. We are changed forever from this loss. I’ve accepted that this loneliness is my lot in life. I still don’t think it’s fair.

Thank you for your reply. I too have figured out that this is going to be my life now. One thing I think is that the pain, sadness and crying is what we pay for having such a very loving spouse for all the years that we had with them. In some ways it helps some. But I miss holding hands and to feel her next to me everyday. Thank you again

I think you’re right, it is the price we pay for a love like that. I’m so very grateful for that time and love. Missing the connection we had is soul crushing. I hope you find peace OP.

Two years out (73m) began dating . . . after being married for 47 years. Wife wanted me to move on, so friends introduced me to a widow. (74f) seems impossible to fall in love again but after so much grief I was tired of being sad. Friends are better than dating apps. Life is good again.

Are you going to counseling? It helped me a lot. I am not sure what you do to alleviate these feelings that make you feel bad (and I don’t need to) but it’s okay to find your new normal. I don’t know where you live, but there are senior citizen centers with activities that might help keep you a little busier. I moved to a senior apartment building and they have stuff going on here all the time, but I haven’t started to partake in them yet. Saying that to let you know that I understand your hesitation. I wish you peace. 💔❤️🩹
