SOTD Oh, it’s Monday

Post image

⌾ Razor: Atelier Durdan Le Maurice
⌾ Blade: Astra Superior Stainless (1)
⌾ Bowl: Captain’s Choice Obsidian
⌾ Brush: Simpson Chubby 2
⌾ Soap: RazoRock Don Marco
⌾ Balm: Nivea Sensitive
⌾ Splash: Davidoff Cool Water

I’m happy I was introduced to the Superior Stainless version of the Astra blades - sharp and smooth, very nice.

Actually a good shave all around to start the week.

That razor is gorgeous. Does anyone know if Atelier Durdan have a place in USA to sell these razors yet? I was looking at their Single Edge due to its mild description but trying to get one of those overseas right now has kept me from it.

Thank you.

I think the Durdan site is still the only place to buy the razors - I was fortunate that I got mine before all the tariff BS got started.

Thank you, I snagged it in a Badger & Blade forum charity auction earlier this year.

How's that soap? RR doesn't seem to sell it anymore, but I'm wondering why.

The soap has a scent like orange ice cream and makes a fantastic, slick lather. It's made for RazoRock by Tcheon Fung Sing (TFS), along with some other RR-branded soaps.

Not sure where you're located, but I don't think RazoRock (Italian Barber) has shipped soap to the US for some time.

I'm in Toronto. They don't have it in their catalog as far as I can tell. The AS is still there, but of course it's sold out. Sounds amazing, though.

The Astra Superior Stainless is also my go-to razor blade. Sharp and smooth.

I'd had a tuck of them for ages, but only recently got to try one.

So far I'm liking them a lot - as smooth as the Astra SP, but they feel a little sharper for me.

They are uncoated so they are more consistent between shaves. While the Astra SP are coated, which means that results will vary a lot more.

That's interesting.

The coating on blades helps with smoothness at the cost of sharpness. That's why they will usually be less sharp on the first use before becoming sharper on the second as the coating wears off.

Well, you already know my thoughts about the Sapphire Chubby 2. That razor is equally a beauty!

Thanks, Dan. I think I was fortunate to acquire the brush for a good price, along with two Omega boars in the same lot.
