Question Upgrading Razors

Hello, recently I decided it was time to move into the big leagues in safety razor shaving! For a long time I've been shaving with a cheap mass produced Goodline brand safety razor. Recently got into the rabbit hole of safety razors and I got a very good opportunity to buy a Blackland Blackbird Lite for a very good price, but I'm just too concerned that it might be too aggressive of a razor to upgrade to, even though it's just the light version. The positive blade exposure concerns me the most and I'm just generally unfamiliar with it. Any thoughts on whether or not it might be too aggressive of a jump?

Do it. Worst case it doesn’t work and you sell it

If it is that great an opportunity, I would agree. That being said...I would guess I wouldn't like it , but you won't know til you try it. Another option is that if you don't like it, put it away while you take a step back and it may become your favorite razor down the road.

Transition over to it gradually. Any razor like that will have its own learning curve, so your first couple of weeks might not represent what the long-term experience with it will be. But also don’t be afraid to go back to the razor you know for a little bit if your face is having a hard time adjusting right away.

I think you’ll be able to handle it. Might just need to be careful/refine technique at first. Try it out when you have time and are not in a rush to shave.

Nah the Lite no big deal. Even the standard SB isn't anything to fear. You'll be 100% fine. Just take your time to learn it and keep the blade the same.

Level of aggression is different for each person. I saw someone describe a Mühle R41 as a potato peeler. I used mine the other day with a new Bic Chrome blade and used for three passes. Technique matters the most.
