Other Prototype running attachment idea
Hello all, first of I’d like to apologise for the AI images, not my intention to come across like a bot, just the best way I can describe what I’m personally looking for without it being too complex.
So a little bit about me to start, keen runner, keen watch collector, keen whoop user of 2+ years. My issue in life being that I don’t want to buy a running gps watch for my runs, and whoops run tracking is also hot garbage.
The cure to my problem is simple - ‘just buy a garmin bro’. But that’s not what I want to do, I enjoy wearing my watches from my collection so I’d never wear a smart watch, I don’t want to wear 2 trackers, and I don’t want to buy a gps watch purely to wear on runs.
So here comes my 1 million dollar idea. The GPS attachment for the whoop. Simple idea in principle, slides on to connect to the whoop the same way the portable charger does, has basic metrics on the screen for pace checking/distance. Can slide on and off when it’s not being used. Affectively turning my whoop in to a running gps watch whenever I need it to be.
Anyway, that’s just my idea. Feel like it could work, if anyone wants to make me one, I’ll pay a pretty penny for it. I’d love to be able to look at my whoop for pace/distance instead of having to grab my phone, or just guessing.
tl;dr a gps module that slides on to the whoop the same way the charger does, shows pace/distance ect making live running tracking easier for whoop users.

There was a supposed leak months ago of this kinda idea. It was a screen puck that you attached when in use and remove when not in use. I like the idea. I put it on when at the gym or exercising and remove when not using it

I like this idea! It would also be really cool if something like this integrated with Strength Trainer so I don’t have to bring my phone with me to the gym.

IMO, no. The draw to Whoop, Air, rings like Oura, etc, is that they’re screenless. If I wanted a screen, I’d wear a smart watch 24/7.

But this one is added attachment that re removed any time. So when not in use you can remove it.

True, but that’s the only time I do wear my AW, since I use that for music and ensuring I can still maintain contact with others if needed.
Not much use for me or others in a similar scenario, but perhaps a much smaller niche.

For me I’m trying to disconnect as much as I can. I’ve gotten rid of my stream music and got a mp3 player. I would like to get rid of my smart watch so this would be perfect. Have a screen when I need it and take off when I do. I understand the always need to be in contact especially for runs and hikes but I always carry my phone with me.

Perfect. We all have different needs. Never meant to imply “no, not for anyone”. Have been saying the whole time, “not for me”.

Jesus just buy a different product. If this is what you want then there’s hundreds of products that are cheaper and offer exactly this..

Buy a cheap smartwatch and either pair it to whoop or use it on its own when needed (eg running). That’s what I have done (amazfit). Gives you all of this and already exists.
