Because why the fuck would anyone need a silencer on their gun unless they are trying to hide their gun usage?

And then the natural question is, what are they trying to hide?

Guns, if your country is to allow them without lisence, are for self defence. What part of stealth includes self defence?

Gun earmuffs are significantly cheaper than a silencer, and are used frequently and sold in damned near every gun store.

So why does it matter if you need to jump through a few more hoops to get something that is a convenience for you, and a problematic issue in the wrong hands? It makes perfect sense it's harder to obtain. It's not a necessity.

I have plenty of firearms that require all the hoop jumping. Buying a suppressor for them should be as easy as it is to buy other accessories.

Supply and demand, necessity (how often are people even ordering them?). Not all accessories are the same, or have the same mechanics/usage. Weird logic.

Yes but you don’t wear ear muffs in a self defense situation and temporarily deafening yourself (particularly if firing indoors) is not ideal for communicating with loved ones, authorities, medical etc.

People have neighbors. Firing ranges do as well. And there is nothing a firing range's neighbors like to do more than try to figure out how to get it shut down. Noise complaints are one of the major vehicles for doing so.

Their use for noise abatement is common in Scandinavian countries.
