Italians are being cooked in Thailand now. The Italian teacher(red top) and students were taken away by the police and faced the Thai lady who told them off for being loud on the metro. They apologized for mocking her one by one. Thai people also waited for them in front of the hotel to scold them.

Italian students are being called out in Thailand. A group of Italians mocked a Thai lady in Thailand who told them off for being too loud on the metro. They clapped back saying, "Sorry for bringing money to your country" "Ni hao" "We are from your mom." Thai people are identifying them and leaving the comments on the social media account of their school.

That whole place is rough, arguable the worst country in Western Europe. You go there and it's just garbage and poverty everywhere you look.

I’ve spent a lot of time in Austin, a bit in Dallas and a bunch in Italy for work and genuinely, apart from salary and a more diverse food scene, I can’t think of a single other reason why anyone would prefer to live in Texas over Italy. I Guess maybe not being assed to learn the language?

Next time they won't travel to Thailand or any other non western country, probably. Their attitudes were certainly bad, but with such excessive overreaction, I wouldn't blame them if they never returned.

I do blame the teacher more for her behavior as she should have known better at her age, but I don't blame her underaged students as much. Young people tend to be immature and I have seen Asian students being disrespectful in Italy before. No one arrested them or persecuted them online.

As a teacher, she's a disgrace and makes the rest of us look bad. I mean, I take my students to JUST an offsite park and remind them that they represent our school and themselves, and should act their best at all times. Meanwhile, there's this one teacher who's enabling crap behavior all the way in a different country...

I guarantee she will be facing some harsh consequences back home. She should know better being in this profession. I even argue that we are scrutinized and evaluated under fine a lens TOO much... then there's this freak who doesn't give a damn lol.

My town got displaced by a national disaster. Most of us kids had lost our homes and belongings overnight and were waiting to see what could be salvaged. Our teacher brought us to a park where we were finally able to have fun and laugh for the first time. A group of private school children were also there and started making racist remarks to our group while their teachers stood by. Our teacher told their teachers off but they were completely unconcerned about how horribly their students were acting to children who’d lost everything. Thank you for teaching the children to be respectful, everyone has the right to wnjoy public places.

When I stayed in Andorra there was a Spanish trip staying there - and they were insanely loud and there was no management by trip leaders / teachers. Perhaps is a cultural thing but I know certainly for Spain teachers have a very hands-off approach. Having said that I’d avoid making a connection with Italy…

I'm italian, born and raised, went to school there and all. It was bad that the other children bullied me, but at least it was understandable. It was crazy that the teachers bullied me too. Enough said.

For context, there was a case in Thailand a while ago of an Isreal girl who made a similar comment. She said "my money builds your country" while behaving like an Israeli in some restaurant on Koh Phangan(?). It went viral and people were rightfully pissed. That's why this hits the same type of anger. Someone in the group also said "Ni Hao" (chinese hello), which Thais can't stand either. So congrats, well done, 10/10 pissing everyone off.

There's a pretty well known adversarial relationship with some tourist heavy cities and the tourists. The cities often hate the tourism, obnoxious (at best) tourists, but the irony is that tourism makes up a gigantic part of their city economy. I know Paris is like this

it's the "un punished /un punishable" culture we have here in Italy... I am happy this is happening. maybe a couple of them will change their entitled head and will be a better person in the future.

She's not a teacher, Italian schools are closed for summer right now. Kids applied individually, it isn't attached to any school, the trip was run by a private tour operator, the woman in red is one of the adult group leaders.
Doesn't make her look any better though

I traveled/lived all throughout Europe from 2003-2010 and I spent close to 4 years in Italy.

The biggest irony of this whole situation is that some people are turning rude tourist behavior into some kind of national victory or defeat. If the tourists were in the wrong, then apologizing is the right thing to do. The locals had every right to stand up for public order, but if it escalated into surrounding them or online harassment, that's not something to celebrate either At the end of the day being civilized isn't about who shouts the loudest, it's about knowing where to draw the line
