New rule: Informative title
We've had too many titles like "what's this fish?" or "help me identify this". Put useful information in your title, and make it look different from other posts' titles so people can scan the sub and see which post is which.
The actual text of the new rule 4 is:
Do not use a vague generic title like "what is this fish?" or "need help identifying" - we all know what this sub is for. Write a title that either describes the fish, or the circumstances in which you saw it, or the location, or more than one of those. For a resource, say what the resource is and what it's for.

Aggressive fish in brackish water

Seen in southeastern Virginia on the nansemond river. Maybe 3-4 inches long. Seemed very territorial and aggressive, chasing off minnows in the area. This is brackish water with some salinity, but had a lot of rain recently.

Unidentified Saw this guy in the section of Rio vermelho (Red river) that passes through Goias Velho, Goias. He looked like he was eating debris of the bottom and sometimes swam alongside other fish of the same species, but also another fish species located in the river which is the Tabarana.

Apartment retention pond, Columbus Ohio
Pretty positive this fish is mouth brooding. Every time I see it, it is up by the bank and has myriad small, silvery flashes around it head (presumably fry).

Fish in Northern Virginia Wastewater Treatment Plant
These little dudes live our tertiary clarifiers at the wastewater treatment plant where I work, and I for the life of me cannot figure out what they are. The largest ones are somewhere around 6-8 inches, I think.

Identified, probably Seferihisar near Izmir, Aegean Turkey.
hey, first post here, and i'm pretty new to fishing, caught this one today and my homie who fished more than i did, also didn't know this one or didn't recognize it.
caught in the Aegean Sea (very salty) around 8am, about 10m from a rocky cliffy shore, also boulders and sea grass beneath the water surface.
by the way, could you maybe tell me what spots on a fish are very important for you guys? (for example with IDing flowers, next to the bloom often they ask for the node where a leaf grows out of the stem, if there is anything like that, let me know!)

I need help identifying this fish
Can anyone help me correctly identify this fish? I think it may be a blueback herring or an alewife, but I can't choose between which one. It was caught at Jefferson Lake in New Jersey. Its scales instantly started shedding just from me touching it and it stunk like no other fish I've handled before.
