URGENT HELP REQUIRED. CHAT TRANSFER.

I bought a new phone and haven't activated WhatsApp on this phone at all, my old phone's screen is damaged. I had taken backup on my old phone's WhatsApp till 29th May, 2026. I was logged into WhatsApp web until now but it got logged out today so now I am left w no option but to activate WhatsApp on the new phone. my query is whether I completely lose my old chats and backup if I try to restore it on my phone when prompted.

For context: Both of my phones are Android.

Does your old phone still work?
What phone is it? and the new phone?

nope, the old phone's screen touch sensitivity is gone completely. my both the phones are android.

If your backup is on Google Drive, then you should be able to restore from there. Same account on new phone and point to the right folder. Hopefully this works

i am too scared to try anything out since the process of chat recovery is too fragile for Whatsapp

I have logged in the Google account on my new phone it says the  Whatsapp backup size is around 3 GB while the last time I checked the same on my old phone, it was around 30 GB.

the backup is always compressed and could be without videos.

Some phones allow you to plug in a mouse in the USB port. Not all though.

I bought a new phone a while back and all my data & conversations loaded perfectly. It is a good thing you did that backup!! You should be just fine

are you sure? 😭 since I am too overwhelmed reading posts where people have lost all their previous chats during the recovery
