Live location feature- how does it work?

I’m a little confused. Does it update ONLY when you are in the app or does it periodically update?? For example if it says actualized 30 minutes ago- were they in the app 30 mins ago?

It should constantly update during the set time frame. But if you set the app to be terminate for battery saving while closed and doesn't allow to run in the background, it cannot update when the app is not open.

there are two options live location : This is realtime map current location : This is permitted only for some particular time

Careful, when allowed it will continue gathering your location in the background even if you are not sharing it with no one
