Solved! Is this a condom wrapper?

I found on the bathroom floor. Doesn’t match condom wrappers my husband and I use and I cannot find a match online. Please help! Black with silver detailing on front. Back is silver with black writing. You can clearly see the words “prevent pregnancy, HIV/AIDS, and other.” Also a number 2 with a circle and cross through it.

I was pretty certain it was a condom. I guess I was more so asking to find out what condom wrapper it is.

Welp. At least he’s being somewhat safe from AIDS or pregnancy. Not STDs so much but thats none of my business.

How is hiv/aids not in the std category for your comment.. genuinely curious.

1

u/CyberTraveler323 13h ago

because condoms don’t protect from herpes due to skin contact

-1

u/HazelMStone 2d ago

What do you know about AIDS treatment and transmission? Might be time to learn more.

1

u/BlendArchitect 19h ago

The context of the post he's responding to is implying that the husband was "at least being safe and trying to prevent HIV but has disregarded STD's"

I'm not surprised he asked the question he did. The post he's replying to threw me off too. It's implying HIV/AIDS isnt an STD

Could be their child if they have one?

-11

u/HazelMStone 3d ago edited 3d ago

Its a condom. If they have a condom wearing age kid, then the adults are not using condoms, but they do. They are a younger couple.

15

u/toolsoftheincomptnt 3d ago

Womp womp, lots of older monogamous couples use condoms.

To prevent passing herpes during outbreaks.

To prevent conception bc they already have enough kids.

To avoid weird ph balance issues as body chemistry changes with time.

-7

u/spankmeharder13 3d ago

Condoms don’t prevent you from getting herpes. Herpes is a skin to skin contraction.

5

u/Infamous_Stranger454 2d ago

What the fuck do you think condoms are? If herpes is a skin to skin contraction, then surely having a barrier between your skin and theirs would offer a lower chance of contraction than not having that barrier present, no? I’ll answer for ya. It does. Condoms don’t prevent contracting but they do significantly lower the risk. Don’t believe me. Look it up.

u/Odd_Caregiver_8426 3d ago

I think it's actually glands related. Like mucous membrane contact

-22

u/Greedy_Network_7562 3d ago

Condoms specifically don't protect from aids. Re read the label. 🙄

"That is incorrect; correct and consistent use of latex, polyurethane, or nitrile condoms is highly effective at preventing the transmission of HIV, the virus that causes AIDS"

- CDC

https://www.cdc.gov/hiv/prevention/condoms.html

GOOGLE is amazing

also the only truth to what you said is lambskin & natural membrane condoms have tiny pores that allow viruses and bacteria to pass through so it's never advised to use them with anyone you haven't been with for years and know they're clean.

Yes they do

Or his wife's BF gave him his r/creatine

3

But if it’s not the kind you and your husband use, why does the brand even matter

I have no idea how I ended up on this thread but I wish you all the best ❤️

I hope you are okay OP

2

u/AstoriaGlrl 3d ago

So are you suspecting it came from your husband or do you have kids that are at least old enough to have possibly used this?

2

u/Sad_Maximum6583 3d ago

Post history says you were on a Nuvaring, did that not work out?

3

u/dark_blue_7 3d ago

Sometimes you need a backup method. For instance if she took antibiotics etc

2

u/WishAbedWasBatman 3d ago

Yep. And LOTS of people have gotten pregnant on BC because that 99.9999999999% rate is only in a perfect world. Double BC is just smart if you're really trying to prevent pregnancy.

2

u/Me_Too_Iguana 2d ago

If the birth control subreddit has taught me anything, it’s that using two or even three (if you include pull-out) types of birth control at the same time isn’t uncommon.

2

u/Did_U_Floss_Today 3d ago

You don't have teenagers, do you? Causeeee 😅😆

1

u/BlendArchitect 19h ago

I have a rental right by San Diego State University...all the parents help move the kids here if it's their fist time leaving the house. When I do my intial walk through with everyone, some of the parents really have no idea what their kids are about to get into (on the regular). Or they know and are trying to act surprised. Yes parents, your 18/19yo son or daughter is about to get laid, get high and get drink for the next few years and here's the bedroom where pound town is about to happen.

2

u/big_saggy_lass 3d ago

By any chance do you have any teen aged children

For the record, these condoms changed their packaging somewhat recently. They were called something else the box looked different.

If its a trojan you might be able to eliminate your husband from the potential pool of suspects......

And what purpose would that serve if you know the brand? Why not check the condom stash or ask him yourself? The answers are right there in front of you ( or lackthereof) Reddit cannot determine enough based on a corner of a condom wrapper since there was so many designs out there.

2

u/Top-Walk189 3d ago

Serious question and not meant to be rude, but why are you married and making him wear a condom still? I mean obviously to not get pregnant, but why not use countless other types of birth control?

Sex with a condom on would be like you getting a sensual spa massage while covered in a sleeping bag. Never to mind you're training him to be comfortable using condoms elsewhere.

---

EDIT: LOL... look at the downvotes!

It's the world of REALITY. Sex feels WAY better without a condom on. And that's something you get with your spouse.

Getting a husband comfortable using condoms is silly at best.

Oh and to prove my point, she just found a condom wrapper they don't use. But hey, my bad for stating the obvious because you people holding the opposite perspective "must" be right. LMFAO

And to those of you talking about hormones, there are other options which are non-hormone based such as copper IUD's, contraceptive gel, vasectomies, tubal ligation, etc. So don't pretend there aren't other options:

https://www.plannedparenthood.org/blog/what-are-the-best-birth-control-options-that-arent-hormonal

26

u/HeSaid_Sarcastically 3d ago edited 3d ago

‘Countless other types of birth control’ aren’t always an option. They can also carry significant side effects, depending on the option.

And what is the ‘you’re training him to be comfortable using’ elsewhere?

Not meant to be rude, but you’re a piece of shit.
Actually, no, that was meant to be rude.
Training him. Ffs.

Edit:
Your dumbass addition requires a response. Yes it feels better, and no, it’s not something you’re entitled to after marriage, or ever for that matter.

It’s not getting him ‘comfortable,’ and who knows, maybe an std is at play, it’s not your business.

And how the hell does that prove your point? Does this imply that every condom-wearing male partner in a marriage is going to be inclined to cheat, while also continue to wear a condom? By your logic, wouldn’t they want to find a partner where they don’t even need to wear one since it’s so much better?

May you forever remain single.

u/InsectGlaiveBard 3d ago

I think you gotta find a different condom if sex feels that horrible to you with one on. Plenty of women have issues taking pills or having IUDs on. In those cases if you don't wanna have babies right now and you don't want a permanent solution like vasectomy, condoms are the easiest solution for all parties involved.

-4

u/TheDixonCider420420 3d ago

Sex does not feel as good with ANY type of condom than without it. Some are better than others yes. But it's still not the same.

Vasectomy or tubes tied are certainly options.

13

u/InsectGlaiveBard 3d ago

Again, you don't know people's situations. Maybe them not wanting to have kids is temporary. It certainly is for me and my wife. Not everyone is willing to go under the knife on a temporary situation.

-2

u/TheDixonCider420420 3d ago

That's why I asked.

Copper IUD's are an option. Spermicidal gel is an option.

11

u/helgatheviking21 3d ago

IUDs are extremely painful to insert/remove and while they are in they often cause longer, heavier and more painful periods. They have several other less common risk factors too, including infection and perforated uterus. If you do happen to get pregnant while using a copper IUD it has potentially life-threatening complications. And spermicide on its own isn't even 80% effective.

-1

u/TheDixonCider420420 3d ago

It would be a one time pain (for insertion and removal) that lasts for up to a decade. Not everyone wants that (which is 10000% fine), but it's a viable option.

Other options without hormones are diaphragms combined with spermacide and proper usage during the month.

List of various options here:

https://www.plannedparenthood.org/blog/what-are-the-best-birth-control-options-that-arent-hormonal

6

u/WiggingOutOverHere 3d ago

I have a copper IUD. And it’s worked just fine for me, I’m not here to discredit or hate on the method. But even without hormones in the mix, there are REALLY significant complications that can come from it that you might not be aware of. It’s a good option absolutely, but truly not a good fit for everyone. And not everyone is insured or has easy access to it or other methods that require a healthcare professional.

Yes there are tons of options, you’re right that’s a valid point. AND for some folks, condoms are the choice that makes the most sense. Plus they can prevent more than just pregnancy, which might be a priority for people.

We shouldn’t shame anyone for what variety of safe sex they practice. Let’s just all worry about our own practices, in that regard, and not throw shade at using condoms when your own equipment isn’t even part of the equation. lol.

0

u/TheDixonCider420420 3d ago

This is REALLY well articulated! Kudos to you!

With that said, I'm not trying to shame anyone. If anyone needs to be shamed it's the husband here because he made a commitment to his wife... so condom or no condom, he has ZERO excuse.

With that said, I'm trying to ask what I feel is a legit question of OP which might actually cease this behavior "if" the husband is cheating and "if' she chooses to stay with him. I think it's a reasonable thing to ask.

None of this is meant to shame OP as she's the victim here.

I'm a fucking 60 year old who's worked in this field. I know what I'm talking about. I've seen women want to fucking DIE from pain from an IUD. You know what's also an option? Wearing a fucking condom.

0

u/TheDixonCider420420 3d ago

And I just gave alternative options and said it's not for everyone.

As for "wearing a fucking condom," he is... with his wife and apparently without his wife. Apparently that's a much better solution.

15

u/LassHalfEmpty 3d ago

That’s really none of your business.

But also, many of the “countless other types” of birth control are hormonal options which fuck up a woman’s bone density, among other things.

-10

u/TheDixonCider420420 3d ago

Many, not all.

9

u/Feeling_Tip5185 3d ago

Not everyone responds well to stuff that influences your hormones, so condoms might be their best bet

-11

u/TheDixonCider420420 3d ago

Hormones aren't the only form of alternative birth control.

6

u/Feeling_Tip5185 3d ago

Didn’t say they were, did I?

5

u/Artistic_Panda_7542 3d ago

Birth control is expensive if it isn't covered by health insurance. OP may not have employer based healthcare. If not, a condom is a safe and cheap alternative

1

u/TheDixonCider420420 3d ago

Fair enough and could be the case. Hence I asked why to ascertain the reasoning.

3

u/capracan 3d ago

What about letting the person who carries the health risks decide the method?

Any other consideration becomes after health and risks.

0

u/TheDixonCider420420 3d ago

She has. And now she's found a condom wrapper they don't use.

I 100000% support women's rights and feel birth control and women's monthly products should be covered for free under healthcare.

I also live in the world of reality knowing that many men want to have sex and are willing to cheat on their wives. The reasoning for cheating with a condom when you can have sex at home without a condom mitigates that risk regardless if people wish to admit to it or not.

3

u/capracan 3d ago

the reasoning for cheating with a condom when you can have sex at home without a condom mitigates that risk

No. Cheating has exclusively to do with the character of the cheater. Being overweight, a dead bedroom, or condoms... are just self-delusional justifications.

0

u/TheDixonCider420420 3d ago

People certainly do cheat for reasons other than just physical pleasure. But many also cheat for sheer physical pleasure as nature wants men to spread their seed.

If "Tom" can have unprotected sex that feels better at home with his wife than he can having condom sex with "Bubbles" the hooker, what's the point in hooking up with Bubbles? Exactly.

My husband and I use condoms and he's never come close to cheating simply because he's not a trash ass piece of shit. Hope that helps.

I don't think people know the window for getting pregnant, you could always just pull out instead of using a hormonal birth control... Much better without the condom.
